SOME QUALITY ISSUES FOR A MAYTAG
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We chose Maytag because of the brand reputation. We also chose Maytag because the product is Made In America. The price seemed like a value when compared to brands that made waffle makers, irons, toasters, TV's and the like of everything (Samsung, LG) as well as appliances. Maytag makes appliances only. The dryer I am replacing is also a Maytag that served us for almost 30 years (really true). Talk about quality back then. Another real plus was this model has Analog controls instead of digital. They last longer and they are very simple to use. This Maytag isn't at the quality level I was hoping for but still a solid 3-stars. My initial issues are the screw-on hard-plastic feet you'll need to install (they also act as levelers). They're cheap and plastic and have a great deal of resistance of movement for adjustments. The plastic feet are also hard slippery plastic so the dryer slides with ease when touched. You'll need to place one hand on the dryer and one hand on the door when you open the dryer door. Expect the unit to slide with ease when the door is opened. It isn't built with any quality weight (thin metal). Install is easy. Power cords are NOT INCLUDED. It take either 110V or 220V power cords. There is no 'Strain Relief' bracket included for the power cord. You really do need one so plan accordingly (the strain relief bracket supports and protects the very heavy 220V power cord). The manual with instructions for install are average-at-best with multiple directions. They are generic so I would highly suggest you view a YOUTUBE video first for the electrical installation; especially when working with the high voltage of 220V. When you are ready to finally plug your unit into a 220V outlet, please go out to your breaker box and first turn-off power to that outlet. Then come back inside and plug it in; eventually going back outside and returning the breaker to its engaged position. *BE CAREFUL*, 220V is dangerous and unless you feel skilled enough, hire someone to handle the wiring aspect of your Maytag dryer. The lint trap is nicely elevated on the top of the machine for ease of access. All controls are large and well marked. Easy to set and as said, thankfully they are analog controls! Drying is fine. In my head, a dryer is a dryer is a dryer (I am a novice) and I thought it dried very well. The drum is massive so clothes movement is excellent.

An Attractive and Affordable Workhorse
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old dryer basically fell apart due to old age. After several days of reading reviews and doing comparison shopping, I chose to purchase this unit from Best Buy based on price and their availability to deliver in a relatively short time frame. After several months of use, I can confirm that this is a well made unit. It has a large drum which is more than adequate for drying loads generated by my family of four and can handle a queen size comforter with ease. I typically utilize the "sensor dry" feature and have yet to have a load of laundry which didn't dry completely upon completion of the cycle. As for the aesthetics of the unit, it has something of a "retro" look which I find appealing. The only drawback of the unit, and this is a minor complaint, is the placement of the lint filter on the top of the machine. A small amount of lint falls onto the top of the dryer whenever you remove the filter for cleaning. A small annoyance at worst, but nothing which would prohibit me from recommending this machine.

Takes 2+ dry runs to get clothes dry
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Solid dryer. It will never dry a batch of shower towels or cotton clothes in one running. I can watch 6 towels or a dozen tshirts on sanitize (highest heat setting) and run it for 70+ minutes (highest tie setting) and I cannot get everything dry. It always takes 1.5 - 2 runs so typically when it is halfway done, I just turn the time to a full load again and it works but this is not ideal and not huge. I have owned this dryer since 2020.

Not impressed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not been terribly impressed. It dries clothes okay, but we have had problems with the 'start' button detaching, and now the timer has broken. I should not have to repair a dryer that is less than 2 years old!

Works great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Has been a great dryer. Works well. I noticed the inside of the drum can discolor. Not sure if it’s just because it’s white. All our previous dryers were stainless.

Maytag Dryer model MEDX655DW1
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely the WORST dryer ever. Not even 2 years old and it has been repaired 7 times. The warranty company just gave me a buyout for $611. Time to find a new dryer. Don’t buy this dryer. It is a nightmare especially if you have a large household like us.

Stay Away
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This dryer never gets hot enough to dry clothes. We tried multiple settings and times, but we always had to run two cycles to dry clothes of any type. Then, four months after it was installed, the dryer stopped generating heat at all. It spins and spins, but never gets hot. It took 10 days for a repairman to look at the dryer, and he determined that the dryer's timer is faulty, and it will take seven to 10 days for the replacement part to arrive. That is a minimum of three weeks with a useless hunk of metal sitting in our laundry room. We bought this dryer because it has a 10-year warranty. I guess we'll be using that a lot. It gets a star because zero stars is not an option.

Don't kid yourself
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When we moved into a new house, they did not have a gas installation for a dryer, so we were told that the electric version was just as good. Sales people told us that, other people who had no business doing so told us that. I was doubtful, and rightfully so. It takes twice as long, sometimes longer, to dry the same amount of laundry as it would have taken if we were using a gas drier. It simply does not get get as hot as the gas version. I imagine that the electric bill will be a real fright too.

Maytag dryer fails after 1.5 years.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Dryer is full heat anytime dryer is running, even on cool down. Full heat is also on during Air Fluff setting. My Whirlpools lasted over ten years, but this Maytag is junk. 10 year warranty on two things, but 1 year on anything else. Coupled with the silly uncontrollable water levels of the MVWB765FW washer, I'm not impressed with Maytag quality.

Dead after 22 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I guess when you skimp on appliances, you get what you pay for. I bought this less than 2 years ago and it's already getting replaced with a sturdier make and model. I'm not willing to dump $400 in repairs on a machine this unreliable. We only do 1 load of laundry per week and it's already dead - needs all new fuses and thermostats. Just not worth it.
