Bought this on sale for $40, does exactly what I want. Records HD 1080 from OTA antenna via coax in. HDMI out to my digital 4K TV. I hooked up a Samsung T5 500GB SSD via USB and formatted it via the on screen menu. Amazing how hard it is to get your hands on one of these units, its almost as if "they" don't want us watching free TV via an antenna and recording the shows LOL.

I bought this to replace a Digital Stream DTV9980 converter box because it's remote died and couldn't find a replacement....did not want to waste time trying a universal remote. This Media Sonic converter box has a nice remote, BUT it doesn't turn the TV on or off! What's the point of a remote if you have to walk up to the TV to turn it on so you can then use the remote and then walk back to turn it off? Sad, because all of the other features are great.

Works with any USB hard drive allowing unlimited data storage. The maximum single drive storage is 8TB much more than any other. Swap drives for unlimited storage. 1080 videos are very sharp. Saves movie files in a common format that can be played on windows media player or converted to other formats. With 1080 over the air network channels having several sub channels each no need for cable TV or satellite TV, over the air with this DVR is good enough.

I purchased with box mainly for recording. So far it does good job keep the shows on a USB stick. I am able to view it on my laptop as well. great invention, great price!

First - you can only record 1 item and then turn the tv off or why record because you cannot watch on one channel while recording another. I thought I received a defective remote control so I purchased another one from Amazon. The remote is temperamental and works best with 2 brand new AAA batteries (not included) and if you are standing directly in front of machine - within 3-4 inches. Yes inches. Cord cutters this is not the answer.

When the product turned on, it worked as intended. However, the user interface is very slow and not well organized. After having the product for a couple of months and only having used it a handful of times in the theater, it no longer will turn on. This was plugged in to a surge protector, which leads me to believe it is a defective product. I paid full price for this ($49.99) and would not recommend this product to anyone. There are better OTA digital tuners out there for cheaper prices.

I had another DTV converter for last 2 years. It was bit buggy. This one works great and much improved over what I had before.

When I connected this converter box to my LG model 32LC5DC TV, The TV immediately stopped working. I cannot turn TV on now even when converter box is not connected. BEWARE OF INCOMPATIBILITY PROBLEMS WITH THIS DEVICE.

Sound out of sync with picture on all channels. Tried the troubleshooting suggestions to no avail. Couldn't get all the chanels I got with the old Zenith one.

Worked fine for 11 months and then it wouldn't turn on any more. User's manual says zero about a Warranty.
