I bought this converter/DVR to replace an aging DVD recorder. Unfortunately it is unable to use an analog signal from a cable converter box. Converter of this type work with over the air/antenna systems. Most if not all of these signals are now broadcast in Digital format. I live too far away from most broadcasters to use an antenna and what I wanted to record is cable channel. This device would work wonderfully for the purpose it is intended but not for what I needed it for.

I bought this Mediasonic Digital to Analog TV Converter Box because I needed a TV tuner for my Vizio TV. I needed to buy one because my Vizio TV does not come with a TV Tuner. This box does it all and even records using a USB stick.

Great picture quality. Poor Guide. It has a strong tuner, so it can pick up weak signals.

Would not scan all of the previous OTA channels that I had so went back to Best Buy for technical assistance. No one could help but suggested trying to scan the tv again, change cables, different hookups, etc.So far nothing has changed and I will be trying something else that was suggested.

Works as an OTA DVR. It works ok but the operation is confusing and not simple like a normal cable DVR. Menus and buttons are not explained well and you really have to take time to figure out how to do what you’re intending on doing. The program guide is slow to populate and not always correct even when the TV itself has the right info. It could use updated firmware to make it easier to use…..

This machine takes a little bit of figuring out to work optimally but once you figure out it's settings it great. It is an antenna and a DVR in one. Recorded my football games on here and it worked great with a flash drive.

This product works just as it says. Easy to use by being plug and play. Only issue the remote buttons do not respond immediately. Sometimes, I have press them repeatedly to do what I need.

Picture through this from OTA is great, HDMI and coaxial out connections. Recorded video to USB stick plays back wit great picture. Using the remote the response time is very slow and has to be pointed at a particular angle User interface is clunky

I have not been able to pick up channels I had before despite using various methods of antenna pick up, including that used previously with prior converter. Also awkward to attempt to optimize reception when trying to dial in channels. Unfortunately this device not as good as the one it replaced & I need more successful options. Advise?

Replaced my OTA converter box and DVD-RW, perfectly, without any monthly fees. No more DVD-RW disks with about half failing to record over time. Great choice for OTA TV viewing.

Not great, but is reliable and gets the recording as scheduled. It has a very difficult user experience. The remote is Horrible.

I have not used the USB port yet so I cannot review that portion of the tuner but I have use the tuner to pick up channels with a roof antenna on to a projector and it works excellent highly recommended

All is good, but the remote is slow reacting. The volume you really need to adjust with the TV remote.

Worked fine to support VHS recording of a digital broadcast signal. Probably will not have a use for the thumb drive recording capability, but time will tell. Gave us an option for recording CBS programs until AT&T Direct TV agreed to renew CBS programming.

Works great, my vcr finally quit so I'm now digital. Helps boost the signal and accepts large USB drives. Easy to program too.

Great hdtv broadcast converter . Easy to use,. The DVR is nice. Connections for most any need. USB port allows for Pics, movies and other media to load and be veiwed.

This works for what I needed it for. I am able to get an HD signal now through HDMI. My coaxial input broke on my tv so this is great!

it works fine, but sometimes it slips programs, I don't use it that often, but I'm pretty sure I can find a way to make it work if I need it more often. Also, it requires a bit of work to get several programs to record.

I took cable off my 1998 Sony Wega 27" TV, which still has a great picture and works! This box and an antennae allows me to enjoy almost 30 channels for FREE!

Nice unit for recording program then playing them back and skipping through the commercials
