Customers are saying

Customers commend the Portal Go's sound and picture quality, ease of use, and convenient touch screen. Many appreciate its portability and good battery life, along with the added benefit of the Bluetooth speaker. While some found the price to be a bit high, the positive feedback on the core features outweighs this concern.

    Nice Device for Facebook Users

The Facebook Portal Go will please a lot of people who use Facebook. If you normally use your cell phone to contact people you may find the capabilities lacking. This device uses the contacts from Facebook primarily. However you can load the Whatsapp app on your cell phone and it will call anyone in your phone contact list who also has Whatsapp installed. I think if the device simply gave you the option of calling any contact in your cell phone, in a simple way, it would be a big improvement. You can link your cell phone via Bluetooth to your Portal Go, however then any request for info for example when you talk to your phone will send the audio to the Portal Go; you may not want this. So that are a few cautions up front, but you can work around them. Installation was very easy. The sound from this device is top notch. I loaded ‘iHeart Radio’ and this provided me with a very nice selection of songs that I can bring up just by using the ‘Hey Portal’ voice command. Facebook users will love the ability to establish a video call easily to other Facebook users. The Portal Go has a very clever camera system that will follow the user around and keep putting the user in the frame. Another useful and important feature is the ability to carry the Portal Go from room to room using the molded in handle. You should return it to its charging base from time to time. The construction is excellent and the soft durable fabric surface is a nice touch. You can ask the Portal Go for weather and some other simple requests, however it gets lost if you request fairly simple requests that you would expect other ‘voice search methods’ would handle. This is where you need to understand that you can use the built-in Alexa. Now instead of saying ‘Hey Portal’ you just say ‘Alexa’ and you will be fine with any request. In a similar way you can use the built-in browser to investigate anything. An improvement would be to put the smarts in the device so you would just use the same voice-awake command all the time i.e. ‘Hey Portal’ and it would internally use Alexa or the browser to get you a response as needed. There are other features such as StoryTime that are geared toward family/friend usage, and this is a very nice special feature. You can utilize other features to see your Facebook photos, upload your cell photos or even get your photos from Instagram. You can use other apps like Zoom, WebEx and GoToMeeting. It is fun to explore the versatility of this unit, but you do need to do some homework to understand the details. A nice upgrade in the future would be an interactive interface with an index to facilitate all the options. But this unit is an excellent interface for Facebook users. I found this particular device to be a nice add-on to other types of voice command devices and of course this is focused on Facebook and your friends there. I enjoy keeping it right beside my TV and can easily check weather without pulling out my cell phone for example. Since Alexa is built-in you end up with quite a versatile unit with excellent audio output. I do highly recommend this unit.

    Super Fun Calls

The Facebook Portal Go is an amazing device. I often do video calls, and with a toddler its hard at times with my phone at hand. I love the Motion tracking camera, it's able to capture every moment and movement. I'm amazed of how well it works. The volume of the speaker is loud and clear, so listening to music is a must. The Portability makes this 100% times better, you can take it anywhere with a convenient handle it has in the back. The charging dock is small that it will fit any place. The outer part of the device is wrapped in fabric, which could be kinda messy if kept near the kitchen. The Apps are limited to this device. It comes with Pandora, Iheart Radio installed already and of course Facebook Live and Facebook Watch. I really wish it had more options to download other of my favorite Apps without going to the browser and searching every time. You can add your Instagram account and slideshow all your photos. The Effects are really cute and fun when chatting. My toddler sure loves them. The Story time feature is cute, especially if you have little ones. But in my opinion its just a feature you visit probably one time while using the Portal. I just got a great idea of making cooking videos for Facebook live, this portal would be amazing at capturing everything. Overall this is a great device to have. Makes calls super fun. It helps you keep in touch with those love ones that are far away. This Facebook Portal takes video calls to a different level, making it feel as though like you were talking face to face rather than a video call.

The Facebook Portal Go is exactly what I have been waiting for! The features of the Portal that can move around with me as I do weekend chores etc! Great sound quality for music or videos, and the best way to have recipes handy when cooking! The only think I wish was that it would work as a doorbell chime for my Blink doorbell or sync with it at all which it sadly does not.

The juice runs out fast. It’s better that IT is always plug in SO that there would be no worry for recharging.

We love our original portal and use it to talk to relatives all over the country, even more so since we empty-nested. This one is very similar, but much like a laptop you have a built-in battery that lets you move room to room without losing connection and "follow the action". We've yet to run the unit until the battery was empty, but we were pleasantly surprised at how long it did hang in there. Display, just like the original is exceptionally bright and sharp - it's the closest thing to being there without actually being there!

Love the fact my son could bring his grandparents everywhere he went around the house. It was so convenient. However it just ended up dying and no longer turn on. Wanted to replace it but they no longer make them unfortunately.

    Great Way to Video Chat

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my son and his family. They live out of state so we video chat a lot. I thought the portal would be a great way to see them all better instead of a phone. My son loves it! I didn’t know about all the other features such as Alexa which makes it even better.
