Metallica always had a sense for mixing melody and distorted guitars, and their self-titled album showcases those talents -- only now in slower-tempo songs. The band's previous four albums are heralded by so-called hardcore fans as their best, but the black album fits perfectly into their top works of art. My friends and I used to listen to this album on tape when it came out in '91, and buying this on CD means it will hopefully not suffer the same fate as fragile cassettes can when they are not cared for properly.

Enjoy listening to these legends. I’ve been to their concerts in AZ and really enjoyed the performance in Tucson at the Rodeo grounds. It was like the concerts of their greatest and most popular hits!! Thank you again. Good music while driving.

My brother had this on cassette when it first came out. I listen to it back then, but was really not into Metallica at the time. Fast forward to today, and I enjoy listening to this CD on road trips. Also, it was in the cheap bin when I bought it.

I am not usually into this genre of music but having heard the big hits from this album often, and obviously liking them as I bought the album, I thought i'd give the whole album a try. This is considered their masterpiece and it is easy to see why. The whole album is as good as the songs that were hits. Not something I'd play every day but certainly worth the price to have it when you're in the mood for something heavy.

It’s a crime cds aren’t being sold in store anymore, I got this for 5 dollars. Solid buy for a classic must have in anyone’s music collection. I gave it to my son to pass on the joy of owning great music.

Although I prefer the earlier stuff this is still really good. classic Metallica. I listen to this in my truck on almost a daily basis. High quality CD and packaging only $5.99 .... A no brainer! Pick up your copy today, you wont be sorry.

I know this is the album where Metallica supposedly sold out, but in my opinion it still has their signature powerful sound and great bass lines. Definitely a little more radio friendly but still packs a punch. Great album for the gym!

This is an "kick azz" album. If you love rock, even if you are not into metal, this is a must to have album. Awesome metal album. A masterpiece. This marvelous work is something that you can enjoy from beginning to end.

This is the record that made Metallica main stream. Most fans only know Enter Sandman but dig deeper, this is a great CD. It isn't thrash/speed like Kill em All or Ride the Lightning but it is a solid metal album.

This is one of the highest selling albums of all time. The "black" album as it is called is Metallica's most popular album. Everyone knows "enter sandman", but there are so many other great songs on this album. Buy this now!

This album is a masterpiece. One of the best works of Metallica and that is saying something. if anyone is interested in rock or heavy music this album is a must. They need to listen to this album

I love this band and their music. There is nothing better than listening to a great band on a great quality cd, in order to get the best sound. Best Buy has great quality products and affordable prices.

I grew up listening to Metallica and although I'm not a super fan I still love them. I forgot how freaking awesome this album is, wow! Start to finish I love it. Never listened to Metallica? Start with this album!

This was the last Metallica album which I can listen to start to finish without skipping any songs. It was an important album for Metallica, but I feel for their fans it was the last really great album.

Saw this album in your bargain bin and thought I'd pick it up because I had a bit of money left over on a gift card. One of my favorite albums by Metallica right along with S&M.

If you are Metallica fan you don't need this reviewed. This is their biggest album with most radio hits. Much different from Master and other earlier stuff, Which I also love, but more radio friendly.

It really threw me. Not the direction I hoped, I wanted my Metallica thrash. After all these years I can say though this album is amazing and made metallica biggest band on the planet.

Although Metallica purists would disagree, this is a great CD. This album was softer from Metallica standards, but more mainstream. It's a great CD for rock fans even if you're not into Metal.

This CD was a rare find to find in the store. And now they have gotten rid of all the CDS that htey used to have in the store.

The production and sound engineering are superb on this CD. As a drummer, I can hear and feel every hit Lars plays! From the slightest ghost notes to the snare crash bursts on "Enter Sandman"
