Great Fitness Band With Smartwatch Features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had my band for almost 2 months now and I am very pleased (I'm using it with an iPhone 6). The fitness features all work very well and the band itself is comfortable enough to wear all day. I did note some skin irritation near the heart rate sensor for about the first two weeks, but it went away after that. The smartwatch functions are great, and I even noticed that notifications come in immediately when the phone gets them. My old Pebble would have a sometimes 20-30 second delay. The app works great - no issues. I have had a small issue with the Bluetooth LE not reconnecting if I get too far from my phone and come back, but it's not happened a lot. I highly recommend that you get a screen protector on it BEFORE you use it. The display part of the screen seems to be pretty scratch resistant, but the bezel is NOT. The battery life is good - I get about 2.5 days on a charge, using watch mode all day and turning it off at night when I get home and using it to track my sleep. Overall, it's been the best smartwatch/fitness band combo that I've used or seen, especially for the price. I wish Apple would allow other apps to respond to text messages, but that's a pipe dream. I can justify paying $350+ for a watch that barely gets a day of battery life.

Excellent
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Microsoft Band is an awesome device. I wouldn't call it a Smart Watch, but it isn't just a fitness tracker. It doesn't do everything my phone can do, and I think that was kinda the point when Microsoft made this. Who want's to be trying to view webpages and viewing shrunken down things on their wrist? There just are things that a phone is better at. As far as the smart watch functions go, I get all of my reminders for work on it, emails come across, I can see who is calling, and I can use the little keyboard to respond to text messages. It also uses cortana, so it adds quite a bit of versatility to what it can do, such as sending emails and adding things to my calendar. In terms of a fitness tracker, I believe it is one of the best fitness trackers out there. I find the heart sensing relatively accurate, and the calorie burn as well as sleep tracking are more accurate because they use the heart sensor. I should note that, despite it's size, I find it quite comfortable. It isn't any more uncomfortable than a watch. I love the clasp. Also, the battery life is exactly as advertised. I used it 24 hrs a day for 2 days, including sleep tracking, and it needed a charge at that point. I even have the watch mode on where it displays the time 24-7 unless you go to sleep. As usual, I researched the Microsoft Band in depth before purchase, so it's shortcomings were pretty well known, which aren't many (Needs a screen protector, 2 days of battery life). The good thing about Microsoft is they are constantly updating and adding features.

Great fitness tracker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been doing fitness tracking since 2011. First with a Jawbone Up, Up24, Garmin Vivosmart and now this Microsoft Band. Also I use other apps such as Strava and MyFitnessPal. Given that I am not exactly a Microsoft fan I was a bit skeptical about the band. I have to say that this band really blows away the others. It tracks sleep better than the Up and it tracks Rides better than Strava. The steps and distance seem accurate. I've not tested the pulse measurements for accuracy but they seem to be in the right ballpark. The band does a good job of estimating caloric burn for given a exercise. The battery life is actually exceeding the estimate given for the product by Microsoft. As far as the other functions such as phone and message alerts, work well but you have to tone down what alerts are shown in the settings or your wrist will be constantly vibrating. I also wish they would integrate better with MyFitnessPal. The screen is very legible in all light. I like that you can set the band to either show the home screen constantly or only after pressing the on button. If the band continues to function this well I intend to drop the use of Strava. I am actually shocked at how good this product is.

Great product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned the Microsoft Band for almost 6 months now and I couldn't be happier with it. I run and/or workout 5 days a week and it always provides me with accurate details about my distance and heart rate tracking. It has stood strong against sweat and rain and is comfortable to wear. It may not be the best fitness tracker or the best smart watch, but it is by far the best hybrid of the two. I wanted something that would track my steps, calories, etc., while also provide me with GPS and heart rate tracking of my runs, and still function as a watch that could do basic texting and alert messages from my phone. I had laughed at the idea of using it to text, but after several months I am surprised at how simple it is to send basic text messages either by talk to text or by using the keyboard -- which is surprisingly intuitive and simple. My only real complaint is that it is not waterproof. But most of these devices aren't. It's listed as water resistant, and so far it's stood up to hand washing, sweat and rain. The only other feature that I wish it had was the ability to store music that I could transmit to my Bluetooth ear buds during workouts, eliminating the need to still use an iPod. If you want just a fitness band that you only wear while you work out, or you only want just a smart watch, you can probably find better products for you. But if you want the best combination of both things in a watch you can wear all the time, I would highly recommend the Microsoft Band.

Best Fitness Band/Smartwatch Available
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Band is great for fitness fanatics. Most accurate device I have used for tracking your heart rate during work outs. Notifications on your wrist are a plus (texts, emails, calls, and general notifications). I have used it for 10 months with no problems and am looking forward to upgrading to the Band 2 when it is released! Just remember to get the screen protector for it and charge it at least 30 minutes every day to keep the battery going. Definitely a must buy when it's on sale! Best part: it works on Windows Phones, Androids, and iPhones!

Technology still needs to catch up
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I give this four starts since average is three stars and the Microsoft Band is above average compared to the other fitness bands out there. I’d give it three stars if rated solely on performance/technology/comfort. I’m heart conscious due to past heart issues and desire to keep track of heart rate while working out. I’ve tried other fitness watches as well as phone apps and I really don’t care for chess straps so this Band appears to be my ultimate answer. Once technology can deal with sweat this will be a sweet product. Pros: - Best product out there for functionality. - Works most of the time. (others fail frequently) - Windows based. (Come on face it, Android is too clunky and Apple is too controlling) - I appreciate the apps and summary’s with the band and how easy I can review workouts between my phone and Surface. - For the price there is not a better product out there with the functionality of the Band. Cons: - Fills with sweat requiring to clean the sensor while working out, this can be a real pain while going 60-70 rpm’s on an elliptical. I work out 5-days a week and this occurs (currently) about every ten work outs. - The touch screen has a hard time working when covered with sweat, trying to pause or end a workout can be a real pain. - Not very comfortable for casual wearing. I wish I was one of the lucking ones that could find that “sweet spot”, but can’t. The comfort is just fine for workouts but not so for casual wearing. I find the sleep function interesting but with the band not being very comfortable while sleeping it actually interrupts my sleep. I’m glad that’s not something I really care about but would use it if the band was more comfortable. - Occasional glitches syncing with my windows phone (Nokia). Not a huge deal since after sometime the two will sync and I haven’t lost any workouts. I’ve been using the band for about four months now and have been finding the filling with sweat problems starting to occur more often and hope it doesn’t get worse. My biggest regret is that I bought my band when it was available only from Microsoft. When they come out with an updated version I will wait so I can buy it from Best Buy.
