The wire connection could be made stronger as this is where my previous set failed. I give it 4 stars as it lasted about 1 year before it died.

I wanted a headset with controls like the older Xbox 360 headsets, where these controls are attached to the controller. This is the headset that offers this feature. I also like that an amber light illuminates on the mute button to indicate that the mic is muted.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good headset, I like to watch TV or listen to music alot while I game and this headset is perfect for that, but cheaply made and will break/wear out quickly I go though two or three of these headsets a year even though i take good care of them..to bad they don't make a wireless one ear piece headset it may last longer?...good headset but be prepared to replace it often.

I never removed the previous by the cable, always used the base, but it still failed after 10 months. You couldn't take better care of it than I had, let's put it that way. Added bonus, the warranty is only 90 days. Beyond that, it serves its purpose, but I wish there were an alternative (wireless please) headset that's just for chat and not game audio as well. Only reason I would recommend is because they're isn't an alternative option as Microsoft felt the need to make their headsets proprietary, instead of allowing bluetooth or standard 2.5/3.5mm stereo mini jack like the PS4/Wii U.
