Awesome controller. I love the sturdy feel and being able to customize a ton about it. Especially the tension on the sticks.

    An engineering masterpiece for gaming

I've wanted an Elite controller for quite some time and when Microsoft announced this one, I was even further tempted. I decided to wait for a bit to see how well it reviewed before I decided to buy it if I was going to at all. I could write a very long and in depth review of this controller but I'll try to keep it brief. The very first time you grab this controller you know without a doubt that it's an extremely well-built device. Some players might not prefer this controller due to its weight because it's pretty heavy compared to most. I don't mind this personally, I prefer the weight. The variety of options on offer are great. There are several bits and pieces included allowing a player to situated the controller as desired and quickly make the swaps when changing games. The triggers have three positions and have haptic feedback. This is great when playing something like Forza because you can feel the resistance from the car when accelerating or braking. The back paddles can be remapped to any of the buttons on the controller and quickly swapped out or removed entirely. At any rate, most of these features are in the description but are some of my favorite aspects. I love the included case and charging dock, even more so since you can charge it while it's in the case. USB-C is greatly appreciated and should be the gold standard to which all devices are engineered now. The charging cable is long and very well made. The entire package is simply amazing. I purchased this to use with my gaming PC (do not currently own XBox One) and it's been a greatly welcomed addition. This leads me to the only potential sticking point for some. In order to remap the buttons, you need the XBox Accessories app for Windows 10. The app nice because it allows you to program up to three profiles for different button mappings that can be switched on the fly via the button in the center of the controller. However, as of the time I'm writing this, it doesn't allow for programming button combinations or macros. I've read that this will be later added to the app via a software update. Additionally, you can connect the controller via Bluetooth but unless you use the cable or the Xbox Wireless adapter, the app cannot detect the controller and you can't use the built-in headphone jack. This is pretty minor point since many will use the cable, may not use the headphone jack, or (like me) will purchase the wireless adapter. Buying the wireless adapter was an easy decision for me since it also allows for multiple controllers to be connected to the same PC, in addition to detecting the controller in the app and use of the headphone jack. So, yea, it's expensive, but uncompromisingly so. If the price point works for your budget and you're on the fence, rest assured you're going to get your money's worth should you decide to buy it.

      Hey there,

Thank you for sharing your in-depth experience with your Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2. We're thrilled that you consider it to be an engineering masterpiece and that you're enjoying its many customization features. While it does support Bluetooth, investing in a Xbox wireless adapter is an excellent suggestion to take advantage of all its features on Windows 10 PC. We hope you continue to have a lot of fun with your Elite 2.

      Happy gaming,
      Chuck

This is an excellent controller and entirely customizable for personal use or even special use cases in games you want different control styles. It is built like a brick s-house. The problems arise when connected to PC to game as advertised. The connection drop outs using bluetooth are infuriating. And yet, even with the cost, I refuse to use anything else. I even bought a second one for the game room in the basement. They are just that good. Certain games will have connection drops, such as Halo Infinite Campaign, AC Vallhalla, and Cyber Punk 2077. Some of those titles have somehow fixed the issue (or it has stopped happening to me at least) but some games persist in dropping connection. And its not a battery thing, or a pc problem. Its the actual controller signal. Heres the thing though, its worth the few headaches. I cant imagine not using these to game. They also have a great feature to allow more than one connection. You can connect it to your PC and if you want to quickly swap to an already connected xbox series x then you douple tap the tiny connection button and it should swap control to the new device as long as you have previously setup that connection. Well.made, accurate response, smooth triggers that can customize travel distance, extra paddles can be installed on the back, shoulder buttons are the best you have ever used, and the sticks have zero dead zone issues. Its an expensive beast, but it is worth it. You wont ever pickup the base contoller again once using the elite 2. Plus, it charges using usb c

I recently upgraded to the Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller, and I have to say, it’s an absolute game-changer! The build quality is exceptional, and you can instantly feel the difference compared to a standard controller. The customizable paddles and thumbsticks are a huge plus, allowing me to tailor the controller to my playstyle. The interchangeable D-pads and adjustable tension on the thumbsticks provide a level of precision I didn’t even realize I was missing.

This controller is definitely for those heavy gamers out there because of the amount of customization you are able to do with it! I was actually a little overwhelmed at first cause I've never had this many options, but holy heck, it's insane! This one is especially excellent for FPS and MMORPG games in my opinion

    The Gold Standard

This remains the gold standard for first party controllers. It's pricy, there's no denying that, and while it is very good, it isn't going to turn you into a "MLG pro" gamer if you aren't one already. It is a refinement of the already very good Elite series 1 controller, and it fixes a lot of the niggles that came with that controller. I owned the original Elite controller, and while I didn't experience any of the mechanical failures that plagued the original model, many of the people I know who owned one did, and my rubber grips did eventually give up the ghost despite my taking very good care of the controller. Other improvements include the addition of a built-in chargeable battery and a charging mat inside the included case, the inclusion of Bluetooth for mobile and PC gaming (though you'll get best results pairing it with an Xbox wireless receiver for PC), a pleasing texture on the grips that wrap around more of the controller, and an additional customizable profile for swapping between controller configurations on the fly. It's not quite perfect yet, though. I'd have preferred the inclusion of a Play and Charge kit instead of the non-user-removable rechargable battery we got. The joysticks, while delightfully grippy, tend to also grip onto dirt and dust no matter how hard you try to keep it clean, so in short order, the sticks will look a bit grimy. Nothing I've found so far has managed to get them clean again. It lacks the new feature of the Series S/X controllers that allows it to swap between console and Bluetooth, so if you want to switch between using it for the Xbox and connecting it to your mobile phone, you'll have to manually re-pair it with your console. Physically, it feels a little smaller and noticeably lighter than the original, which, at least for me, was a lot of the appeal of the first model. These are all minor quibbles, and they don't detract from the overall package, but if you're spending 2/3 the price of a new console, it'd be nice to have to negatives whatsoever. On the whole, then, it's still the best controller I've ever owned. Can you live without it? Absolutely. But once you've used one, and gotten used to the features and the little extras, it is very hard to go back to the standard Xbox controller. I do not regret buying one for even a second.

I used my Elite Series 1 for years and wore it out, even changed it's housing/buttons over time, still works to this day. Loved every minute of it, and the successor is an even more reliable move forward. I love the case/charger combo, makes putting down my controller and always having battery so much better. Less to think about. Super responsive controls and the customizabilty is extremmely flexible

This has been my favorite controller to use ever. It’s such a game changer being able to swap thumb sticks. The controller itself has cool features like paddles and the metal feels nice to touch as well as the rubber grips sitting nicely in my hands. It feels reassuring to also have a case with my controller that also has compartments to hold my separate parts. I’ve had the controller for ~2 years and the only problem that has occurred is a tiny piece of the rubber is peeling off next to the right bumper but that could easily be glued back if I cared to do so. I would say the price point is definitely too high. In the end it’s just a controller after all

This is a great controller. Internal battery is nice. A single charge lasts a long time, the responsiveness is outstanding. I love the hair trigger option and the 3 different paddle setups for different play styles. Its so versatile and easy to switch between console, to pc, and even to my phone during trips. Comes with extra parts too. Definitely a good purchase

I've really been enjoying this controller. The rechargeable battery was something I'm glad this came with. I like the old 360 thumb sticks which this comes with an assortment of different ones. The D-pad pictured in the advertisement is nice for fighting games but you can switch that out too. The only real issue I've had is with the paddles on the bottom. You'll need to train your muscle memory to accept them. Overall, they are the better way to play. Do yourself a favor and disable the x y a b buttons in the menus on the XBox/PC. The controller is heavy compared to the standard ones. It's solid and the grip is awesome. You'll need to relinquish that death grip most people play with in order to get accustomed to the paddles. Another thing is that the paddles are great for reassigning buttons like the Thumbstick - To - Run assignment most Call of Duty games have. Sea of Thieves does this. Again it's relearning how to walk, run, and jump. When you finally get it, your K/D ratio will increase dramatically, ie you are no longer taking your thumbs off the movement sticks to hit buttons. Some of the more advanced features are not explained like cording several buttons together for special commands.

The quality of the gamepad is unbeatable. So unbeatable that I’ve opted to replace 3 different ones now (buying the insurance each time) because the button receivers on these eventually go bad. My first one lasted me around 8 months before the RB receiver went bad and started failing intermittently. Second one lasted me about 8 months before a faulty LB receiver went bad and it had to be replaced. My third one lasted around 6 months before the left stick button’s receiver went bad and had to be replaced. Overall - awesome controller and I refuse to use any other game pad… just make sure you buy the insurance. Hopefully a series 3 will bring receivers that last the long haul a bit better.
