No ghost drift
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of all of my Xbox controllers, this one has managed to last the longest without developing the dreaded ghost drift issue that plagues regular controllers

best controller in the market today
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.my all time favorite controller, well worth the money, everything about it is premium, the only bad thing about it is that it will eventually get the stick drift, I've gone through 3 elite controllers but I keep coming back, best to get the warranty, if people are asking why I think its the best controller even tho it has a major flaw, my response is this, a lot of other controllers now have the same issue, the difference is that this controller is just built better overall

Great out of the box choice
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.High quality and feels great in my hands. One star off because I think there the paddle position is close enough that occasionally I’ll press the bottom paddle if my grip is off at all. Also a star off because it came out of the box with stick drift, which is a common complaint with this model. Great overall with minor imperfections.

Low cost elite 2
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great controller with a good feel and tunable joysticks. This is a great lower cost replacement if you already have an elite 2 and can swap all of your paddles and accessories over. I get about 2 years of heavy use out of each and the core option saves me money. Glad microsoft de ided to release them.

Poor quality materials, will not last
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned this controller for 3 years give or take. I have never thrown or dropped this controller. I have always kept it in its case, on my desk. It has never traveled or been taken anywhere. It has never had a single drop of liquids touch it. I had to have it replaced twice due to manufacturer defects. I have babied this thing, because I have cancer and cannot work, I cannot afford the astronomical price to replace it. But after hearing the rattle of something small moving around inside the controller for a few weeks, I decided to open it up today. What I found should be an absolute embarrassment for Microsoft. Upon further inspection, it became obvious to me that the plastic that is used to make this controller was deteriorating on its own. The grips were peeling off, several chunks of thin flimsy plastic had somehow broken off on their own on the interior of the controller. Again, this controller has never, not once, absorbed any kind of shock. There has not been a single event or instance that could have caused even a single piece of the controller to break. Yet somehow, there are several broken off pieces and parts. The only conclusion I can come to is that Microsoft uses extremely cheap materials to make them. And for a $200 controller, that is shameful. And with the warranty only being a year, its pretty clear that Microsoft is 100% aware that this controller will not last. And now here I am, clearly a fool for trusting Microsoft to make a quality, top of the line controller. What a huge letdown. When it works correctly, I loved it. But between stick drift and constant bumper issues, along with the very cheap materials used, I cannot recommend this in good conscience. I have a 3rd party Xbox One controller that has seen at least double the use, been dropped, thrown, tossed, had soda, water, coffee, etc. spilled on it (it is used by my kids), and is also 2 years older, that works flawlessly still to this day and cost 1/5 of the price. I feel a bit scammed. This controller has so much potential, if only Microsoft put some care and quality craftmanship into the manufacturing process. Instead, they are trying to fool us into having to buy a new one every year or 2.

The Gold Standard
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This remains the gold standard for first party controllers. It's pricy, there's no denying that, and while it is very good, it isn't going to turn you into a "MLG pro" gamer if you aren't one already. It is a refinement of the already very good Elite series 1 controller, and it fixes a lot of the niggles that came with that controller. I owned the original Elite controller, and while I didn't experience any of the mechanical failures that plagued the original model, many of the people I know who owned one did, and my rubber grips did eventually give up the ghost despite my taking very good care of the controller. Other improvements include the addition of a built-in chargeable battery and a charging mat inside the included case, the inclusion of Bluetooth for mobile and PC gaming (though you'll get best results pairing it with an Xbox wireless receiver for PC), a pleasing texture on the grips that wrap around more of the controller, and an additional customizable profile for swapping between controller configurations on the fly. It's not quite perfect yet, though. I'd have preferred the inclusion of a Play and Charge kit instead of the non-user-removable rechargable battery we got. The joysticks, while delightfully grippy, tend to also grip onto dirt and dust no matter how hard you try to keep it clean, so in short order, the sticks will look a bit grimy. Nothing I've found so far has managed to get them clean again. It lacks the new feature of the Series S/X controllers that allows it to swap between console and Bluetooth, so if you want to switch between using it for the Xbox and connecting it to your mobile phone, you'll have to manually re-pair it with your console. Physically, it feels a little smaller and noticeably lighter than the original, which, at least for me, was a lot of the appeal of the first model. These are all minor quibbles, and they don't detract from the overall package, but if you're spending 2/3 the price of a new console, it'd be nice to have to negatives whatsoever. On the whole, then, it's still the best controller I've ever owned. Can you live without it? Absolutely. But once you've used one, and gotten used to the features and the little extras, it is very hard to go back to the standard Xbox controller. I do not regret buying one for even a second.
