mix feelings about this product

Not for competitive PC players (get anything else)
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No matter how much I tweaked the thumbstick tension and spent time "breaking in the sticks" or adjusting thumbstick curves in settings, it just never gave me the level of responsiveness that some stock controllers do (Dualshock 4, Dual Sense, Gamesir G7, Wolverine v3 TE, 8bitDo Ultimate 2). AND those controllers are a fraction of the price. It's unfortunate because the feel of this controller is above and beyond all others. It has a nice weight and overall feel in the hands. The back paddles are also excellent. It's just a shame that the actual responsiveness does not match.

Excellent function, but unreliable
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This controller is excellent from the standpoint of functionality, ergonomics, and customizability. It has everything from multiple profiles, customizable triggers, adjustable stick tension, swappable D-Pads, and 2-4 paddles depending on user preference. It's also basically plug and play on PC. Where it falls short is build quality. Despite being quite an expensive controller, it has only a 1 year warranty, which admittedly is up from the 90 days offered on the Elite v1. I have returned 7 of these in the last 4 years - they do not last. Stick drift, sticking triggers, and unresponsive bumpers (typically R1) are the most common issues. I don't think any of them have lasted a full year. They're also the same issues I had on the Elite v1. Given that it's almost a decade since the original Elite was released, I think it's clear the manufacturer isn't willing or able to address the quality control issues. This is underscored by the fact that a bare bones version (the Core) was released without the Series 2 accessories. Presumably this was to offer a lower cost option to people whose controllers had failed, and were out of warranty.

Great controller!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really happy with the quality. The components are each mag based and they are extremely easy to swap out. My only negative comment is the lack of a dedicated screen capture button. It can be mapped as a shift function but i miss the single button ease of use. Otherwise it's a great controller for fighting games and FPS's like Destiny 2

Expensive, but worth it
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Been hankering to get one if these for months, and because of that I was a bit wary going in. You never know if a purchase is going to live up to the hype you build for it. I'm happy to say that to me at least, this does. When you first pick it up, you don't really notice much besides the weight (which is good and heavy; I can't stand lite cheap feeling controllers), but after a few hours in I started noticing subtle details. The sticks are suuuuuper smooth, and every button has a good solid click. The triggers are weighty and responsive, however the trigger stops detract slightly. I usually have them at the shortest pull when playing rpgs or shooters, and it almost feels like I'm going to break the stops. Other than that one detail, I haven't found anything about this controller I don't like. Very happy with my purchase.

Great functionality and feel, average durability
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great controler, good feel and functionality, have had many now and always seem to get bumper issues or stick drift just after the warranty ends.

It’s a controller
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It does what a controller is supposed to do control a game but wait it has extra buttons! Kidding it does the same thing as a cheapo that comes with your console and if you are sweaty enough to need the ability to adjust your joystick resistance or your trigger engagement/pull distance than this is 100% for you

Great Controller for PC Gaming
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was using a PS4 controller wired to laptop. Found this “PRO” controller and knew I needed to give it a try. Hated the wire and wanted back buttons. This is a excellent controller which feels and looks great. User configurability is great. The buttons and sticks that can be changed out are super easy to do. Battery life is outstanding. I use it mainly for travel and the protective case isn’t overly huge. Only had it for a short period so can’t comment on longevity and problems others have had with buttons and sticks going bad. Can’t say one bad thing so far about this controller. I price matched and paid $139.99. Standard Microsoft warranty now 1 year suggest paying an extra $20 by calling Microsoft Xbox tech support to extend warranty for a total of 3 years. I believe you have 45 days or so after purchase to add this extended coverage. Also recommend using the Microsoft wireless adapter ($25 extra) instead of the Bluetooth connection. Heard you can have connection issues using standard Bluetooth. All in all great controller upgrade and at the moment would recommend.

This could be the greatest Microsoft Controller
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So let's address the elite series 2 controller. It does what it should... when there's not issues. It feels great and heck even wanted me to change the thumb sticks. Never thought I'd do that & can see why the underside paddles are great to use. Those things are what make this controller THE CONTROLLER! (3 stars). HOWEVER there SHOULD BE A RECALL! brand new out of the box the A button has a dead zone, if pushed in a way it becomes obvious. I did the swab of a normal controller & noticed at any pushed angle of the button it stilled worked. Not with the series 2 controller though. If I didn't want to blow $200 I'd rip it apart to fix it myself. But it's almost as if the button doesn't line up with the logic board inside the controller when pushed at some angles. Which should never happen, should still work like the cheaper controllers. That's a major failure on Microsoft's part. If it was not for that everything else worked fine, no issues. The joy sticks are cool you can swab out sticks & tune the stiffness or loosen them with provided key. Switch d-pads, etc. You can read the specs. The other picky thing which I can see past is the top grips are a little too much, I personally started getting sweaty palms after one round in a shooter and then the controller almost has this slight sticky feel when warm from just holding it. But it quickly goes away if you air it out between rounds. Wasn't enough to not keep the controller more so than the A button not working. Would love to give this a 5 stars for the product. if it had no known issues, this would be the greatest controller. @ $180 Microsoft your products shouldn't have issues right out from the box. I gave this 3 because it is worth tuning and resolving the small issues for an amazing product that it could be. Now I'm keeping mine, unless it's a total lost after services fail to resolve the issues for me. I've got until May 15th or 18th (got it mailed). Bought this on the 15th from Best Buy, can return & still get the money back. We're talking a defect on Microsoft's behalf not Best Buy. I've got options in services via geek squad or Microsoft's 90 day warranty. Geek squad protection is worth getting on this. Because let's say there wasn't issues and after a year the button and stick got worn out from use. Geek squad will fix or replace the controller. so $40 to keep that $180 feel or in this mess save from owning another $180. GET the 2 year coverage. I normally don't but I knew about the issues other people where having & planned for it. Other than that Best Buy was a total win this time. During this COVID-19 mess they still got my package in the two day window. Great job BB & postal services. I waited until getting my product in the mail before getting the geek squad protection. Only had to make a simple phone call and give my order # and boom the protection was added on, no hassle. Go to any Best Buy for repairs or services. Great! Will be needing it, as it looks. The employees I talked to via the phone or live chat on site. Informative and helpful & knew about the bugs on the controllers, lol must be getting returns on them. I'd give Best buy a solid 5 stars in services. Which impressed me normally it's about eh, they tried. Conclusion: The controller isn't a magical device that makes you a greater gamer but is a NICE controller to own... when it's working that is. That's what's so annoying you want it to be the greatest controller which hopefully Microsoft does too. If you are wanting to buy this WAIT. Allow time for Microsoft to hopefully fix these problems before you buy one and get stuck seeking help to have it fixed yourself. If you manage to get one now, there is limited stock. Get the 2 year coverage, so your not out $200 or more in service repairs & reshipping costs. Hopefully Microsoft comes through and replacement controllers come out. Other than that return them don't waste the money. Like I said I'm only giving it until my return window period.

A great Xbox Controller
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son says it's the best Xbox controller he's ever used. It seems a little heavier but the button options are great and it's nice that the case can be used as a charging dock.

Solid FPS wireless controller
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The customization is really nice with the additional 4 back buttons. Thumb stick selection is nice, but a tall stick with a fat head would be better for FPS games for accuracy. Build quality seems sold, and weight feels premium. Wish it came with a wireless dongle. Picked up one up which adds to the total cost, and have only connection 1 drop so far. The D pad sucks. It is not responsive for fast paced games that use this like 2D platformers. I switch to a PS4 controller to play them. I use this for COD Warzone & picked up the warranty as reviews of it failing seem a little too frequent, and COD is harsh on controllers. I prefer the shspe & size of the PS4 & PS5 controllers a lot more, but the lack the buttons on the back. Removing those from the back is easy if you only need 2, or have larger hands and bump the wrong ones too much. It's definitely a med to large hands controller. Software works, and set up is easy

Great controller get a warranty.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this controller. It looks and feels like a quality piece of kit. Sadly as good as it is I find it breaks often. Definitely recommend getting a replacement warranty on this controller. I expect a controller to fail eventually but this thing always has a failure within a year. I’m by no means hard on my controller either I in fact take great care of my stuff. For nearly $200 I’d like this thing to not have a back button that fails to register after 6 months of use. I still rate it high because it is arguably one of the best controllers ever made but it seems they cheaped out on some components.

Great Xbox controller
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the design. Ended up buying this one as my original Xbox elite controller was getting old although nothing wrong with it the new controller is great like that the battery is internal however curious on how long the recharge ability will be in the coming years as opposed to swappable batteries
