Good, but PC support issue & no service plan

Pricey but high quality and good feel. I use it with a PC via Bluetooth, Definitely an upgrade over my 360 controllers. Unfortunately the customization of the paddles on the back isn't working after I switch from USB cable to Bluetooth, so taking off a star for that. It essentially makes the paddles useless for me. So minus one star for that. Also I'd hear there was a drift issue with these so I asked if I could buy a service plan, but the clerk told me I had to pay for a Best Buy membership to buy a plan. So no plan, hopefully I can use the warranty if there is an issue. Odd when people won't take your money. I won't deduct a star for that since it doesn't reflect on the product, more of an issue with Best Buy.

The Ultimate Controller for Precision Gaming!

I recently picked up the Microsoft Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC from Best Buy, and it’s hands-down one of the best gaming investments I’ve made! The premium build quality instantly stands out—its weight and textured rubberized grips feel sturdy and comfortable, perfect for long gaming sessions without any slip. The customizable features are a dream for any gamer. With interchangeable thumbsticks, D-pads, and four back paddles, I can tweak it to fit any game, from shooters to racing titles. The Xbox Accessories app makes button mapping and profile switching a breeze, letting me save up to three custom setups for quick changes on the fly. Performance-wise, it’s flawless. The adjustable-tension thumbsticks and hair-trigger locks give me pinpoint accuracy and faster response times, which have noticeably upped my game in competitive titles. The 40-hour battery life is a huge plus—no more worrying about recharging mid-session—and the included USB-C cable and charging dock keep things convenient. Whether I’m playing on my Xbox Series X, PC, or even via Bluetooth on other devices, the connection is seamless with zero lag. This controller is a total powerhouse for anyone serious about gaming!

First Impressions: Sleek, Minimal, and Purposeful The "Core" in the name is significant. The controller arrives in a sleek white finish (with a black option), presenting a minimalist, almost sporty aesthetic compared to the full Elite Series 2's included carry case. Don't mistake "Core" for "stripped-down" in terms of build quality. The moment you pick it up, you feel the heft and premium construction. The textured grips provide exceptional hold, ensuring it stays firmly in your hands during the most intense gaming sessions. The core components—the high-grade buttons, triggers, and hybrid D-pad—are all here and feel exceptional right out of the box.

    A button not registering

    Posted .

I have bought 2 of these controllers within 4 days of each other, both of them from Gamestop brand new out of the box. Unfortunately both of them were plagued with the same problem. The A button would not register 100% of the time as I discovered while playing Halo. My character would not accurately jump. I went into the controller settings on the dashboard of the Xbox to watch the button feedback while the buttons are being registered. The A button would appear when pressed and disappear while also pressed. All of the other buttons would remain registered and appear on the screen. The A button was the only issue I had with both of these controllers. I'm hoping I was just unlucky and purchased a bad batch. Its a very comfortable controller.

My bf loves this controller! I buy him one every Christmas! Although it could probably last 2 years or more, my bf plays almost everyday. Multiple hours a day, and he sweats A LOT but it holds up quite well, especially when he gets mad and violently taps on the buttons quite often XD

If you are a gamer, you have to get this controller. It is really well built, it is slightly heavier than a regular controller which makes it feel more serious and not like a plastic toy. The interchangeable parts add to your experience and the paddles offer new ways to play. Battery life is unbelievable, it can easily last for more than 40 hours compared to the maybe 10-15 I get on a PlayStation controller.

Love the controller. I have had everything except the scuff controller. I am a heavy gamer and use the controller for games like Fortnite, destiny and gta5. The response is snappy and I can change out the joysticks at any time depending on what game I play. The p1-p4 buttons on the back are comfortable and even if you drop it the don't fall off. The settings for the controller on the Xbox are simple for anyone to understand and yet as complicated as you want it. You can adjust the curve set presets for different games and many or other people. I only gave it 4 stars because the click on the left joystick just went out on me. I have been gaming for 5 months between me and my 3 kids for probably 5 hours give or take and it held up better then any other controller I owned. It is covered under warranty so I am getting it fixed but I would definitely and I am going to buy another.

Really good controller the quality is very good and the feel of it is nice. Would recommend. The battery life is long and the controller charges quickly. The buttons are very responsive and the paddles in the back are also very responsive and customizable. The triggers are also a nice thing on the controller and the trigger stoppers are good for fps games. Very good controller over all worth every dollar.

After about 2 years of use the RB and LB buttons would not work consistently and the rubber grip started to pull away. After some light research, this is a common issue with these controllers. I do love the weight and how much I can customize the controller. If you want to spend the extra money to get this over the standard controller, get the coverage.

I love this controller and I've been through a couple. For me it's less about the panels than the sheer weight of it which seems right in my hands for all the gaming I do. Elite controllers have earned a reputation for falling apart over time, especially having sticky buttons, rubber grips that unglue, etc. Best buy has made this so easy with their two year protection which I definitely bought this time on both the controllers I bought. And I'm glad I did because about 15 months in I'm about to bring mine back to the store. Because there's nothing worse than having sticky buttons on a dragon's about to decimate you.

    Better than the default controller!

The Red Microsoft Elite Series 2 Controller serves as a budget-friendly alternative to the premium Elite Series 2 model. While it lacks the additional accessories included with the standard version, it features a plastic-coated body with rubberized grips, rather than the full rubberized texture found on the premium model. Despite these differences, this controller is a noticeable improvement over the standard Xbox controllers. For a slightly higher price, it offers an impressive battery life and the convenience of built-in recharging. If you're looking for an affordable entry point into the Elite Series 2 lineup, this is a solid option. However, I personally prefer the texture and included accessories of the default Elite Series 2 controller, as they provide a more premium and comfortable experience. Overall, I’d rate this model 4 stars: it’s a great step up from the basic Xbox controllers but falls short of the comfort and quality of the black Elite Series 2 controller.

This is an amazing controller. I had an elite series one and Xbox did an amazing job on taking the best from the first series and making better for series two. The grip is better, has more options for customization as well as included battery with great life. Controller is a little smaller than first and feels great while long gaming sessions. Really worth the upgrade. Also uses a type usb c cord for charging as well as corded game play.

Very comfortable, and a lot of customization features. If you're a fan of the first one then you will definitely enjoy this one. Only downside is that it doesn't let you download controller schemes already created by other people like the first controller did. Also I had for a year and the RB button is starting to fail. Will have to be replaced

I like the new additions to this controller over the first Elite controller, but there are a couple things I don't like as much as the first Elite controller. Such as the buttons are a lot louder the both my Elite v1 controllers. Second and most annoying is that on the Elite v1 controller you barely have to tap the A button to get it to register on the V2 I had to return the first one I received because the A button half the time would not register and the second one is the same way if not a little worse. You definitely have to push the A button all the way down and sometimes it still don't register. The last issue is that it like many other people (mainly YouTube reviews) have mentioned it continuously disconnects from my Xbox One X. Battery life seems to live up to what is stated of 40 hrs. I do enjoy the grip of the V2 more than the original even though I had changed my back grips on my V1 with Scuff. I do recommend for those that don't have the Elite V1, but if you already have the V1 I probably would not recommend spending the money for the upgrade.

This is a great controller and has great features, but the price is too high. Yes, the grips are better and the extra buttons are cool if you remember to use them, but i always forget. I had 2 others that i had to return cause the Bluetooth would disconnect all the time and had to plug in. The switch in the back snapped off my other one. I am on my third and hope its the charm. Nice long battery. You can change the buttons and how it turns. If it was 80 bucks cheaper, it be perfect.

Overall, the controller works well. The paddles and extra thumb sticks that are included are a nice plus. Setting the controller up is incredibly easy. The best feature is battery life. I have been using this controller for a year and even while playing 15-20 hours a week I’ll never have to charge it more than once a week. The controller can also be used wired while it’s charging, so you don’t even have down time between charges. The only reason for a 4 star rating versus a 5 is because of stick drift. After maybe 3 months of regular use, I started getting stuck drift in the right analog stick. It has a warranty, and Microsoft will fix it, but you have to send off the controller for who knows how long. For a $200 controller, stick drift should not be an issue. And if it happens outside of the warranty window, you’re stuck with it. Microsoft at the very least needs to sell new pots for the analog sticks that you can replace yourself. With that being said, you can counteract the stick drift by changing your dead zone settings. Overall I’m happy with my purchase and will probably buy another one whenever this one finally bites the dust.
