Customers consistently note the product's great overall performance, excellent battery life, and extensive customization options. They frequently praise its comfortable feel, good weight, and comfortable grip. However, a significant concern raised by users is the issue of stick drift, which appears to develop quickly. Additionally, some customers have experienced problems with button quality and found the price to be a point of hesitation.

    WORST STICK DRIFT EVER

    Posted .

Loved the adjustments on the triggers, and the rear paddles were very nice. The multi-direction D-Pad was also very nice, but this controller developed the WORST case of stick drift I've ever personally experienced. I only had the controller for maybe 3-4 months before it became such an issue it wasn't even worth playing with anymore. I would definitely not recommend you waste your money on one of these over priced pieces of trash. You'd think for the premium you pay for one of these over a standard controller, they'd have a little higher standards.

Loved the controller, hated that it was open.

Loved the controller. Did not like the fact that I received it open. The stickers keep the box unopened, were cut off.. definitely making me suspect it was an OPEN BOX order when I bought a NEW controller. Employee stated they received all of their elite controllers OPEN from the warehouse. Bestbuy CS couldn't verify it for me if that was true or not.

I was really excited about this controller. However, my expectations were almost immediately deminished. Within the first two weeks my controller began to have stick drift. The buttons werek clunky and after a few months two of my back buttons practically didnt work. I take great care of my things so i know it wasnt from neglect. This is just a poorly constructed controller, I will never buy another xbox controller again to play fps games at a high level.

PC Gamer? Read this! "Pricy and unreliable"

Windows 10 PC gamer here. I've been using a PS4 controller for a couple of years and had the itch to try something better, as I'd recently picked up a handful of games better suited for a controller. This bad boy looked like a fantastic option that crosses every T. While it does feel high quality and wonderful, I think the internals tell a different story. I owned this for one day; I couldn't get the Bluetooth connection to reliably hold. Like the hundreds of complaints you'll find online, the wireless connection is lost upon plugging in - this forces you to remove/re-add the device. After I was able to finally maintain a Bluetooth connection a few times, regular interruptions would occur every three minutes or so. They behaved like a heavy CPU load took over the machine, halting any game I tried to about 5 frames/second for roughly one second. The controller would feel less responsive or sluggish immediately before these instances. I have read using the wired connection or buying the wireless USB adapter from Windows solves this issue, but why should we have to do this after spending $180? Why doesn't the Bluetooth hardware just work? I can tell you it is not my machine, as the Dual Shock 4 from Sony never exhibited similar behavior ONCE. I won't go into details about my PC specifications; after further research, I noticed many Intel Z3X0 (Z370, Z390) chipset users had experienced these issues. Within that first day of use, I also noticed the "A" key was less responsive than the other face keys. It would not release as quickly as the others did, and you could audibly hear it finally bounce back, a fraction of a second later than it reasonably should. Regarding this, I read it is very common - the bumper keys also have sticking issues. Alcohol swabs or otherwise tampering with the buttons reportedly fixes it. I didn't try. Both of these issues have been consistently reported to Microsoft via official forums, Reddit, tickets, etc. SINCE LAUNCH. This means my issues on Dec. 1, 2020 have not been resolved since they flooded channels starting in November of 2019. If they haven't fixed it yet, I doubt they will - nor that they care to do so. I returned the controller, begrudgingly. I really would have liked it to work. It is, after all, wonderful feeling and highly-tweakable. Instead I grabbed the Razer Wolverine Ultimate and do not regret this decision whatsoever. It is a much snappier and precise controller, and I do not need wireless functionality. That is the route I would recommend.

For the price point it is set at the durability is way beyond subpar. I purchased mine in holiday season of 2019, it is now July 2020 and the joysticks drift, the left stick gets stuck on itself sometimes, and it disconnects from my xbox during gaming at least twice a night. When it worked properly it was the best controller I had ever used, however that was a very short lived phase. I would 100% reccommend you buy a scuf controller or anything not from Microsoft, as they will have better customer service and warranties on their controllers for less or equal price. Will not be buying another microsoft branded elite controller, build quality was not their for the series 1, and unfortunately it still is not there for the series 2.

    Amazing Controller, Terrible Bumper Issues

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is the best controller in gaming, however, it still has the bumper issues that plagued the first gen model. I have gone through 3 of these and my current is having RB issues again but is out of warranty. If the overall controller weren't so fantastic I'd have switched by now. Be aware!

I know they have been many complaints with earlier models of this controller, but I have not experienced any issues since I bought it three months ago. Works well, lays well in the hand and is definitely an upgrade over the standard controller that comes with the Xbox.

I love the controller. It preforms amazing when it works correctly. Unfortunately my first elite series 2 came in broken. It’s face buttons (x,y,a,b) all were sticking and occasionally not sending a signal. So I returned it. I then ordered another one. It worked better, but still had fave button issues, but I decided I could deal with the issues of this one. Come to find out, the dead zones on both joysticks are screwed out of the box. The “brand new controller” came with joysticks that looked like Kyle didn’t clean his controller for 2 weeks. I ordered a new controller. What I got was a messy, barely working, slight upgrade, to my falling apart series 1. So I didn’t return it because it was an upgrade, but now, two months later, and two controllers later, both bumpers aren’t working. Great job.

Best XB controller, but too many issues for price

This controller was amazing when I initially purchased. The feel is great and it feels like a premium item. However, just a few months in there was significant stick drift issues. I was able to send it to Microsoft after they extended the warranty, but within 2 months of receiving it back the LB started completely failing. Luckily I could use a paddle as a replacement, but the RB is now also starting to fail. If you don't play any intense games I'd highly recommend as the extra features are great. If you're playing games requiring advance movement look elsewhere. Microsoft's ability to build long lasting components is abysmal. You only need to do a quick web search to see countless issues experienced with this controller. Invest your money elsewhere.

Overall, the controller is excellent. I like the design and feel. But, the left thumbstick drifts a tiny bit. I kind of hoped this had been fixed on this series of controller. This should absolutely not be a problem on a $200+ controller.
