They have many faults. Please test your control and if not, return it.

Had a few sticky and non responsive buttons already within first week of using it. However, this controller worked seamlessly with my PC and was very easy to setup and customize.

Unfortunately it seems Microsoft spent more time and money on the feel and accessories than the reliability. Using Bluetooth on Windows 10 the controller constantly disconnected and required me to repair to reconnect. Updating to the latest Firmware did not resolve the issue. Then after less than 10 hours of game play the left analog stick completely bound up. For a controller that retails for $180 I would expect it to last more than just 1 week. I'd love this controller if I could trust it would last. This is under warranty, but I can't justify exchanging this for a new one knowing that this design has these kind of reliability issues. I will be returning for my money back and getting a standard 'non-elite' controller.

Well today I was using it and no reponse when I pressed any of the buttons. For being a $180 controller it should last longer. I have an $60 PowerA Fusion Pro that is still working. If you buy the Elite Series 2 make sure you get the insurance you will need it.
