Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the Elite Series 2 Core Wireless Controller's high-quality build, excellent battery life, and comfortable grip. Many appreciate the customization options and the controller's overall feel and weight. However, customers are negative about the prevalence of stick drift issues reported by some users, as well as concerns about the durability of certain buttons and bumpers. The positive feedback on features like customization and feel is frequently offset by negative experiences with controller longevity.

High quality construction. I like that you can buy the accessories separately. Charge lasts a long time. Great custom options.

I loved the V1 controller - except the rubber grips that separated, and not because of water, or sweat, or oil, or anything else, they simply separated due to poor construction. This one seems to have addressed that issue, the design is different for how the rubber is attached. As for the rest, I didn't use all four bottom paddles on the original, I didn't like their placement, but the new one I'm using all four happily, but I don't know if that's simply because I became more accustomed to bottom controls using a Razor wired controller, or because these are arranged differently. Control is spot on. Unlike the Razor, I absolutely love the buttons here, no mushy feeling like the Razors (I had both versions of the Razor with the buttons on the bottom, the 2 button and the four button one), they're crisp and sharp, you can feel the click and know it engaged. Sticks are great, the default tension was good for me so I didn't have to adjust that at all, but now you can if you like a looser or tighter feel. Only one taller stick is included, so if you want higher sticks for both, you'll have to buy another stick from some source. No issues with pairing, no issues with this not turning the Xbox on anytime. Battery life has been amazing, I can do day long stretches of Destiny for days in a row before I have to connect - and the USB C charging is way better, I can use my laptop's cable while I play if needed when it runs low as I'm using it. The included little charger base works well. I've always loved the Xbox One controller form factor, it's my favorite of all consoles (and yes, I have every one out there other than the PS4 pro). Nothing fits as naturally in my hand, and this is right there, that wonderful "Feels like it's part of your body" contours that make it comfortable for extended gaming sessions. Shoulder buttons and triggers are responsive and I almost never accidentally hit one of the shoulder buttons, so that's a bonus compared to the Razor... I like the adjustable trigger travel as well. My downsides - I'm not a fan of the grip. Yes, it's designed better than the first gen, and shouldn't come apart, but it's more plasticy, not as grippy, so I wish it was just a bit tackier to the touch. Second issue, I wish the batteries were replaceable at the user end. But all told, definitely a solid follow up on what was the perfect controller until it came apart.

This XBOX Elite series 2 core controller pairs well with PCs. I tried using my PS controller and it gave me a hard time. I would definitely buy another one.

I really wanted to like this controller, it felt very solidly well made, except for just one annoying thing: the rubber or latex or whatever material the black side grips are made of made my palms very itchy. Im not sure why. If it did not do that, i probably would have happily kept using this controller. Heres hoping microsoft uses a different, non itchy material for their future elite series 3 controller, if and when they release it.

Owned two now i love the premium feel but at the same time its made cheap my first one got stick drift (when will these multi billion dollar companies start using hall effect) within 3 months and my right bumper stopped working and had cracks all over i think from gripping it to hard as for the one i got from bestbuy its still holding up 7 months later maybe i got unlucky with my first even if they are made cheaply they still have nice features the battery life is very good and the paddles are aswell (i bought some off amazon for cheap) you can re map buttons etc i personally can not go back to a basic controller they feel extra cheap in comparison i recommend the elite core but only on a sale with a warranty

I got this controller because the original controller that came with my series s stopped working. I was unsure at first to pick this up because of the price and I heard cases of these pro controllers drifting and not working. But a friend had one and said it was great. So I took the risk and so far this controller works fine and I love the little features it has like adhust the tension of the sticks and the trigger stops. Overall a solid controller

Poor quality materials, will not last

I have owned this controller for 3 years give or take. I have never thrown or dropped this controller. I have always kept it in its case, on my desk. It has never traveled or been taken anywhere. It has never had a single drop of liquids touch it. I had to have it replaced twice due to manufacturer defects. I have babied this thing, because I have cancer and cannot work, I cannot afford the astronomical price to replace it. But after hearing the rattle of something small moving around inside the controller for a few weeks, I decided to open it up today. What I found should be an absolute embarrassment for Microsoft. Upon further inspection, it became obvious to me that the plastic that is used to make this controller was deteriorating on its own. The grips were peeling off, several chunks of thin flimsy plastic had somehow broken off on their own on the interior of the controller. Again, this controller has never, not once, absorbed any kind of shock. There has not been a single event or instance that could have caused even a single piece of the controller to break. Yet somehow, there are several broken off pieces and parts. The only conclusion I can come to is that Microsoft uses extremely cheap materials to make them. And for a $200 controller, that is shameful. And with the warranty only being a year, its pretty clear that Microsoft is 100% aware that this controller will not last. And now here I am, clearly a fool for trusting Microsoft to make a quality, top of the line controller. What a huge letdown. When it works correctly, I loved it. But between stick drift and constant bumper issues, along with the very cheap materials used, I cannot recommend this in good conscience. I have a 3rd party Xbox One controller that has seen at least double the use, been dropped, thrown, tossed, had soda, water, coffee, etc. spilled on it (it is used by my kids), and is also 2 years older, that works flawlessly still to this day and cost 1/5 of the price. I feel a bit scammed. This controller has so much potential, if only Microsoft put some care and quality craftmanship into the manufacturing process. Instead, they are trying to fool us into having to buy a new one every year or 2.

Definitely worth the buy if you previously had an elite controller. If your old expensive elite 2 controller broke and need a replacement? Buy the core and take the parts off your old controller and voila, you have a fully functional elite 2 controller with all the bells and whistles at a fraction of the price. Don't forget the protection plan for when you get stick drift.

Had the controller for 6 months, worked great, then R1 stopped being responsive. Now it takes a huge amount of force for it to register. Overall, the gamepad is ok, but besides the materials i think a regular series controller is better than this.

This is the best controller on the market that isn't the full Elite Series 2. I have one of those that's out of warranty which has issues with the bumpers, so I picked this up as a cheaper replacement. Since I already have the full Series 2 system, this is all I need. Very comfortable, easy setup, works great.

Love the controller. Got a second one because I didn't buy an extended warranty on my first. I highly recommend putting the 2 year service on it. I used mine daily and it started to break down after about 8 months. By 12 months (about 8 days past warranty) the left stick got all kinds of wonky. Anywho, i had everything I needed from the previous controller. so I bought this one with 2 year service and saved a bunch of $$$.
