Customers are saying
Customers are positive about the Elite Series 2 Core Wireless Controller's high-quality build, excellent battery life, and comfortable grip. Many appreciate the customization options and the controller's overall feel and weight. However, customers are negative about the prevalence of stick drift issues reported by some users, as well as concerns about the durability of certain buttons and bumpers. A great Xbox Controller
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son says it's the best Xbox controller he's ever used. It seems a little heavier but the button options are great and it's nice that the case can be used as a charging dock.

Great Controller With Unfortunate Quality Issues
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a complicated relationship with Microsoft's Elite controllers. On the one hand, I love how solid they feel, all of the replaceable parts and customized settings. They feel like the last controllers you'll ever need to buy, which would hold true if they didn't have so many quality issues. Despite all the problems I've had I do still love this controller, but I'd recommend getting the Geek Squad protection if you're thinking about it, which offers a little more peace of mind than Microsoft's paltry 90-day warranty. The packaging for the Series 2 controller is excellent. The charging base can be used to charge the controller inside the case, but can also be removed and put somewhere else. You get a couple thumb stick options, a thumb stick tension tool, a swap-able D-pad, spots to store the paddles, and a nice braided USB-C to USB-A cable for charging. It all fits very nicely inside the case, though I feel like the upper mesh compartment that stores the cable could be a little bit bigger; when the cable is in the case it feels like it's pushing down on the sticks in a way I worry could cause issues. Overall great package though. The controller itself feels super solid and is really comfortable to hold. It's the primary reason I purchased it in the first place and I don't even really get into the customization options that much. It feels like it's just the right weight. I'm not a huge fan of the paddles and more often than not was pressing them accidentally, but they're easily removed. The stick tension can be adjusted with the included tool, but it's again something I left alone as I don't miss the 360 stick tension like some others do. There are also 3 levels of adjustment for the triggers if you want shorter travel on those. It truly does feel like what it costs when you hold it. The app for customizing everything is intuitive and easy to use on both Xbox and PC, though again my desire was never really for customization and I just wanted a nice controller, so I can't comment too much on it. You can set up 3 unique profiles on the controller (4 if you include the default configuration with no profile set) and pressing the middle button is all you need to do to switch between them. It opens up possibilities even within the same game where you may prefer a different layout/setting for certain activities. Also new to the Series 2 is the addition of a built-in battery and Bluetooth, which are both nice to have. It always struck me as odd with the first one that such an expensive controller would not include a rechargeable battery, so I'm glad they fixed it in Series 2. Now, onto my issues. I owned the original Elite controller and loved it for a while until I started experiencing stick drift. It was outright terrible, but it makes playing games that require extra precision like Celeste pretty much impossible. Unfortunately those issues came into play well after my warranty had expired and I was never quite able to figure out Microsoft's website for getting it repaired. I knew this was a well-known issue, so when they announced the Series 2 I was hopeful that issue would be addressed, but weary of my initial experience I went ahead and bought the Geek Squad protection with the Series 2. It's disappointing that Microsoft doesn't extend the warranty to at least a year for something that requires so much more investment than the standard controllers. Things were fine with my Series 2 for about 5 or 6 months maybe until I started noticing stick drift again on the left stick. It wasn't bad enough that I wanted to use my Geek Squad replacement yet, so I held off on doing anything about it until one of the switches that adjust the triggers broke. Fortunately the process for replacing it through Best Buy was super easy and I received my replacement today. Hopefully this one will work better than the last, but it makes me sad that something that could be so great is still hampered by these issues. I still think this is the best controller you can buy for Xbox and is even one of the best for PC, but it's hard to ignore the issues I've had and I probably wouldn't recommend it to most people. If you don't get any sort of extended warranty plan I would recommend watching yours in those first 90 days to make sure any issues that pop up get fixed before the warranty runs out. Note: I purchased this on its original release date in November and just recently had it replaced.

BUY THIS CONTROLLER IF YOU WANT MOUSE-BUTTON
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far, the stick-drift hasn't killed the first one I've bought. The ability to configure and change the buttons to how you want is great. The mouse-button-click for the triggers are the best for me. And they are considerably cheaper than controllers with the same king of ideas/implementations. I do wish that Microsoft offered more colors than just 3, or the ability to change the faceplates to the color(s) that you'd want.

Feels much better than the standard controller but
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I owned the original Elite controller, which I loved, and bought this on a whim while picking up my Series X. The weight and texture of this controller gives it a much higher quality feeling than the standard one. Its features including the ability to adjust the tension of the sticks, the included magnetic charging stand, etc., are awesome, however, like many mine wasn't flawless out of the box. I almost returned it due to my A button not working every time I pressed it (worked 7-8/10 times testing it), and I decided to fix it myself using the tape method. It's worked flawlessly since. I didn't want to gamble exchanging it for another one. I also priced out DIY modding a standard controller with a new shell, rechargeable batteries and stand, quick triggers, and more but it wouldn't have cost all that much less than this item when I bought it on sale, and still would have a few features missing. Overall I'm happy with it considering all it's bells and whistles, the feel vs the standard controller, and the sale price I bought it at, but 1 star subtracted for having to fix a brand new and still expensive controller.

Don’t think I will be going back to dual shock after playing with this remote. Buttons feel great and feels amazing in the hands.

Xbox Series 2 Controller
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Solid controller, works well. The replaceable thumb sticks are cool, but unfortunately this controller doesn’t come with the paddles, so you will have to buy them separately.

Great controller takes alot of normal gaming abuse
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the controller. I have had everything except the scuff controller. I am a heavy gamer and use the controller for games like Fortnite, destiny and gta5. The response is snappy and I can change out the joysticks at any time depending on what game I play. The p1-p4 buttons on the back are comfortable and even if you drop it the don't fall off. The settings for the controller on the Xbox are simple for anyone to understand and yet as complicated as you want it. You can adjust the curve set presets for different games and many or other people. I only gave it 4 stars because the click on the left joystick just went out on me. I have been gaming for 5 months between me and my 3 kids for probably 5 hours give or take and it held up better then any other controller I owned. It is covered under warranty so I am getting it fixed but I would definitely and I am going to buy another.

Expensive but fun addition to my console.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first thing I noticed was the heft of the controller. This thing is rock solid. I will say, playing with all four paddles didn’t let me get as good a grip as I wanted, so I only play with the top two (I have large hands and the lower ones got in the way), but I enjoy the advantage of being able to keep my thumb planted on the right stick. There is slight drift in the right stick out of the box and adjusting the stick tension did not fix it. That being said, it is so slight it’s so far only registered when looking at the map in Warzone. It otherwise has not affected my play. The short-throw trigger setting is great for any repeated with the trigger motion (e.g., semi-auto shooting). The paddles let me crouch and jump while aiming in CoD like the PC players, replace my stick presses for added finesse in NHL, and make some fun paddle shifters in Forza. Definitely a fun addition to my One X and happy to know it is forward compatible for the transition to the Series X. If you have the money to burn, it’s a fun addition, but not a necessity.

Great controller
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really enjoying this controller. I love how you can change light color on the center button light and the paddle buttons. Makes playing fps games easier to play. Plus I like the trigger sensitivity control levers so I can just barely press aim and trigger buttons to shoot faster. The battery life is awesome, barely have to charge it.

Quality control issues with buttons
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great feel but still suffers same issues from the first elite 2 controller. I’m a competitive gamer that used this controller pretty heavily. Within 5 the months of use, the R1 and L1 bumpers experienced loss of function. Pretty frustrating. I did get the insurance and got another one for replacement. It did fall under the Microsoft warranty but in the past, I didn’t have a good experience with them. Takes days to receive the controller and they didn’t even fix the problem. So if you plan on getting this controller, I highly recommend getting geek squad insurance. They’ll replace right on the spot. Still a solid controller for gaming.
