Have had a number of issues with this charger including it refusing to charge properly when the controller is fully assembled. I had to remove the battery case to get the battery to charge when it is connected to the cable. Absent that inconvenience, it beats using a bunch of Duracels.

Works fine, but a recharge kit for two controllers is a better value.

I just opened the box for the play and charge kit tonight, even though I bought it in August. I waited until the batteries that came with the controller died. Big mistake. Though the controller “rumbled” when I plugged it in, no lights came on to let me know if it was charging (amber for charging and white for fully charged). And though my Xbox showed that it was plugged in, it didn’t indicate a charge. I had a similar experience with my XBox 360 play and charge kit, but thought to myself, “Hey, you couldn’t be unlucky enough that two kits would malfunction out of the box.” Now I’m beyond the point of being able to exchange it.

I just replaced my xbox one rechargeable controller battery. It seems not to stay charged for very long. I always keep a spare Xbox controller with good ol' batteries near by. They just don't seem to last as long as the old Xbox 360 batteries.

Be careful purchasing this product. I previously purchased an Xbox One Play and Charge kit and it worked fine. I decided to buy another, however, this product turned out to be defective. The fifteen day return period had already passed and if I had only tested the charging capability before then, I'd be able to return this. Given the typical frequency that I do use this product and play Xbox games, the first charge lasted me until after the fifteen day period. Advice to buyer - test charging capabilities before the return policy time frame runs out.

    Lousy Battery, Nice Cable

The included cable is very nice, but doesn't make the purchase worthwhile. I've had the battery for less than 4 months now, and it's completely dead. My Xbox One Elite controller must be plugged in at all times now!

Even after charging this battery it still won't keep my controllers on for very long. I have to keep turning my controllers back on after about 20 minutes of use.

    Long lasting charge

    Posted .

Charges within 3 hours, charge last 2 days with heavy game play (10+ hour days a day). When batterie is about to die it gives ample warning before you actually have to plug the controller into charging cable so no disrupting gameplay in strategic places, It's a bummer to die right before you kill a Boss due to your controller batterie dying. I didn't turn on my Xbox for over a week and when I next used the controller I was able to squeez some game play out of the controller before plugging it in. So yes I'd defently recommend this product, I've had mine for over a year and the batterie is still going strong a still holding a long charge. Only con: if you're not careful the end connection while not plugged into controller can be easily damaged as it's small and fragile.

Allows me to sit away from console, but does not hold a charge. Has to be plugged in always. This occurred the first time I used it. Did not hold a charge, but operates fine as long as it is plugged in!

Do Not Buy - Horribly Glitchy

I was really looking forward to saving money on not having to use batteries in my Xbox one controller. However to my dismay this battery pack is so not worth the money. It does not hold a charge and it actually caused a common glitch where my Xbox one controller wouldn't connect to my Xbox without being plugged into the charger. So basically my controller stopped working without being plugged in. I threw the charger away. A hard reset to my Xbox and fresh batteries in my controller solved the problem thankfully but I will not be buying another one of these battery packs.

Hello Vik9933. Microsoft warrants the Xbox One or Accessories will not malfunction under Normal Use Conditions for 1 year from the date you purchased it; and for Accessories, means 90 days from the date you purchased it. Please contact us directly so we can assist you with a possible replacement at: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/browse/xbox-one . We apologize for any frustration this has caused and hope this was helpful to you. Microsoft

A little underwhelmed with this product to be honest. Battery time does not last very long, around 2hrs, even after hours of charging.

Stopped charging past 5 % charge after about 8 months of use. When plugging it in, it shows that it’s connected and begins charging like normal. After a few seconds it stops charging like it already fully charged. As soon as I unplug the controller, It shows the battery completely depleted and shuts off after a minute or so. I still have original PS3 controllers that still maintain a charge after years of use so this is just pathetic.

    Best Play and Charge Kit

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is by far the best play and charge kit that Microsoft has had for the Xbox. This new xbox one version fits inside the controller and does not require a new battery cover. The aftermarket versions require you to replace the battery cover with one that has a cutout for the charging cable to connect to the battery. The Microsoft version uses a micro usb that connects directly to the controller and charges the battery while still allowing you to play. The battery last a long time and charges rather quickly. Invest the extra money into this product instead of paying a bit less for an aftermarket product that will not last as long and requires replacement of the battery cover.
