For the old version, you had to remove the battery pack and recharge it on a separate station. Now you leave the pack in all the time and recharge with a USB cord which really limits gameplay interruptions.

It's white, so i purchased the Xbox controller battery, its lasts a very long time, and charges less than 4 hours, and when playing as well, its charges to full under 4 hours... its a great buy!!!
