When I first got a Xbox One when they came out, one of the first things I did was get a play and charge kit. The batteries would stop charging after 1-3 months. I had faith in Microsoft’s quality, so I kept replacing them for the span of one year. After going through so many play and charge kits, I was finally convinced that Microsoft Xbox as a brand was one of the worst when it came to quality. I told myself I would never buy a Microsoft branded Xbox battery or cable again. I began using third party batteries without issue. Fast forward to 2022, I began to regain hope. Since Xbox has came out with the Series X, they must have their stuff together now, right? No, they don’t. I purchased two play and charge kits for my son and I and it’s even worse than before. Right out of the box, the batteries do not charge. They were placed the correct way in the controller, and my Series X was brand new, so it wasn’t a controller or console issue. The charge icon comes on but the battery never charges. I’ve been keeping it plugged in for over a week and whenever I unplug the cable, the controller stays on for 1 minute and turns off due to no power. Save yourself the headache and get some rechargeable double As or an aftermarket kit.

I have had bad luck with these the entire time they existed. The last one I owned for XBOX ONE X would not hold a normal charge and I had to return them. This time with my new Series X I was excited to get the rechargeable pack with new USB C. Well this time the controller disconnected randomly ALL of the time. Once I went back to regular batteries, it stopped. Another dud..

Mine crapped out after a month. I don't leave it on the charger for extended periods of time so it’s not like burned out. It just quit. Only works when you keep it plugged in. I replaced with a 3rd party brand instead.

Two months old and barely holds a charge.. must have got a defective one? I literally have to charge every day

Didn’t hold a charge after 7 months. Loved our prior rechargeable pack, bummed about this one.

Purchased in December 2023. May 2024 it no longer holds a charge. Wish I had read the other reviews that indicated that this problem appears to be very common.

Wouldn’t take much of a charge at all! Would last maybe 10 minutes after hours of charging. The Xbox dashboard would only show the battery low on charge. Probably just a bad battery but still wasn’t happy! I ended up purchasing Energizer rechargeable batteries and using those instead.

Only lasted a day or so will not charge, seems to be a recurring thing for this piece.

The battery itself only lasted two weeks. If it's not constantly plugged in, the controller dies immediately. I could have still returned it if I didn't throw away the box. Lesson learned!

Lasted six months, then promptly stopped accepting a charge. Now, this little baby is officially the most expensive paperweight in the house! I'd try a 3rd party brand as this thing is clearly a piece of, well you know what.

Basically garbage. Would not charge. I threw it away and bought a PAIR of knockoff controller batteries that have been working greak for over a month and cost less that the branded one.

No matter how long it's charged, this product does not keep a charge. After about 30-45min, the battery dies - even after charging overnight and with minimal gaming. Of course, this issue began AFTER the timeframe to return it. I wish this item could be swapped out or refunded.

Wish they built in with the controller i will rather paying more than buy them separately.

Comes charged out of the box, but once it’s drained there’s no charging no longer happening. I had a rechargeable battery pack I purchased with my Xbox One and it lasted 9 years. This product clearly isn’t as good as the 2014 model.

Crap. Don’t buy it. Lasted about 2 months and won’t take a charge anymore. You’re better off buying rechargeable batteries.

The previous generation charging kit was so much better. this battery pack dies every 30 mins even if I charge it overnight, it’s so frustrating and i’m tired of company’s not putting fourth there efforts anymore to make a good product truly disappointing
