I had my Surface form the Microsoft Store since its introduction. I just wanted to point out that the Surface RT is very business friendly and can be a real asset to any small business. It professionally networks, prints, runs Office, and remote desktops, just like any Win 7 machine. It has real world file management capabilities, which is a must for any operating system to be used in the business world. It allows multiple user accounts, a big plus for businesses also. The Wi-Fi signal is really strong outgoing, and very sensitive receiving. It also works with any $10 keyboard or $5 mouse without any adaptors.

I purchased this tablet for 2 reasons: it had MS Office, and it allows for multiple log-ins. One thing I hate about my current phone(Android) is the fact the kids have all of their games and apps littered all over my apps. With this tablet each user gets their own login, so you don't have to see the kids stuff on your screen. Also is great since my wife and I can have different emails and calenders when we login. Also I can limit what the kids can do my website,app. Also how long they can play. The market is still developing. If you are looking for a tablet that has tons of apps, this is not for you.

The surface is extraordinary. It is great for writing papers for school, fun to play games on, and after owning this device for almost 8 months, I can safely say it works incredibly well. The surface is faster than an Ipad, is more useful (as far as ports and being able to login to remote desktop at my job), and can be plugged into an external display and used like a desktop with a wireless mouse and keyboard. SkyDrive integration is nice because I can pull up my files on any computer in the world. Overall the surface just works. It works for school, it works for work, and it works at home. It is a perfect device for anything you need it to be.

Let me start by saying, if you have the extra money you should definitely get the surface 2. That being said, this is one of the best tablets you can get. Comes with a full version of Microsoft Office for free, has a full sized USB port to connect things like external hard drives and flash drives, and a built in kick stand, just to name a few things that this tablet has over its competitors. I will absolutely be upgrading to the Surface 2 when I get some extra cash.

At first it was simple to navigate around... Then we started to run into problems with the App Store For one... Facebook. states that the device does not meet minimum requirements for the Facebook APP. After 6 hours of updates... followed by the new OS 8.1 install Everything now works fine & we can install Facebook and add the tile to the start page & works great! Now the Pinterest wont allow us to log in. but we can through explorer So there are defiantly some issues that I hope in time will get resolved.

I almost listened to the guy at the store 3 told me that this wasn’t quad core. It is quad core and faster than the others. Works great with my windows 8 phone as well as Xbox and my laptop. I synchronize all 4 items as well as my desktop for certain items. Way better than my wife’s apple mini and iPhone this just kicked apple to the curb glad I waited for this

This was probably one of the best purchases we made in a long time. It is easy to get started and very convenient. The keyboard just snaps off in seconds and the tablet is just the right size. It was so nice that the software was already loaded too!

I have been looking for a tablet that could sit in my lap while I interview people at work. I wanted accurate handwriting recognition. I had original tablet PC and liked but large and recognition accuracy not up to par with what I wanted. I had the Ipad on day one of its available to see if it could do the above. I have spent LOTS of money on apps to try and achieve this both on apple and android (gallexy S notes) products. They just can't match what microsoft does in this area. I think this is a much better product than the press has lead up to believe. It is also so stream lined and simply designed that I am hoping that my father in assissted living in anothe state will be able to navigate it on his kitchen table to video conference me out of state. Let you know how that works out.

Bought this and the Type Cover 2 on Good Friday thinking for the price it would be fine, but there are enough negatives and even the price isn't good enough to make me keep it. Everything about the tablet hardware is excellent, however Windows 8.1 RT needs to be dumped and all efforts devoted to making Windows 8.1 forward all it can be. I must add my BestBuy Sales Associate was Amazing in every way on this of all days. Although the store was overrun with shoppers, she never rushed me taking time to answers any questions and address issues with "My BestBuy" account....Thanks!

I bought the Microsoft Surface from the Microsoft store, when it was first release. The features and the durability of this device was astounding. The Microsoft Office (minus access) was ideal for school and work. The touch cover that I bought with the bundle was very ideal. I later found out that this device was missing java, which is an issue for me, since my school uses java to connect to the network. with this device you can only apps from the windows store, for the time being, it is disappointing, but soon it will get better. The only reason why I didn't give this item a 5 star, is because it doesn't have java.

The Surface has been great so far. I am a small business owner and will be using it while traveling (which I've done a little so far with the device) wifi connection is great, battery life is top notch and the build quality is fantastic. We purchase a second surface for my girlfriend who isn't as computer literate as I am. She had no issues settings up the device and connecting all her accounts.

Bought for my daughter and she loves it so for! Very easy to use and compact for her to bring to college.

I ordered this tablet as a Black Friday deal for $200. I just got rid of my iPad first generation and was looking for a replacement because I was really missing having a tablet. This tablet blew that one out of the water. I love Windows 8.1 RT on this device, and I would never go back to iOS for a tablet. The only issue that I can see is that the Windows Store is still a little barren, but I know that is on the grow. You cannot go wrong with this beauty.

Anyone looking for functionality at a great price should grab surface. I too have multiple tablets in my home but the surface is the only one I can actually do work on ans well as log in to VPN. This is a steal for Elite Plus members who can get this for $100.

Much better than the iPad we used to own. Includes Microsoft Office which is very useful for school or work. The only downside is that there aren't many apps out for it.

Its a truly 50/50 item. I hate that when I don't have the keyboard attached, the on screen keypad does not automatically appear when I need to use it (like filling in online forms# and its hard to access it when you are running a program in full screen mode. #All programs). A lot of the features take a WHILE to get used to, like your multiple tab browsing. Office 13 RT Preview isn't bad, but misleading, it makes you feel like its a trial you are going to have to purchase the full version of later, which you do not. All in all it is a good product. DO NOT BUY IF YOU HAVE SHORT PATIENCE. This is a product for the tech person who enjoys the next big thing device and does not mind learning through trial-and-error and waiting for updates to iron out kinks. Also, the camera is awful. The guy at the store promised me it would be great. It is not.

The Microsoft Surface is the best tablet on the market by far. The others are just toys, this is a toy AND a great tool. It comes with Office 2013 installed and can easily connect to printers therefore is good for students. Microsoft truly did a fantastic job with Windows 8/ Windows ET. IE9 and IE10 are very quick and beautiful and I've recommended it to many friends and family members.

So I got this not only at a great deal but it came super fast. I was surprised, think it took just a couple of days. Its definitely easy to use. My wife loves it and the kids like watching movies on it. I would recommend this

Average guy take, I am in my forties and need to replace a Galaxy tab 2 10.1 with a cracked screen. There is one feature I really needed on a tab and that was access to my broker for trading. Yes there was an android app I was using but some features I really needed do to vision discomfort weren't available. So options...Atom Windows 8...another plastic tablet. Ipad...same app available. Windows surface pro... use broker wndows application, but pro price little steep. Took a chance on RT since you have a return period. I have a winner. My broker's FLASH site works without a hitch!!! ( u must fully update your surface for performance and flash features.) The RT is solid tablet and is sturdy....T]hey type cover is not bad for moderate typing and I am using to write this review. The speakers aren't too bad and have descent average volume. Apps...well they will come pardon the pun. As with any piece of hardware or software you have to get used to it. With that being said navigation on the RT is pretty cool and I never have to use the windows button. Just swipe away to your hearts content.

the only tablet u will need it's fast smooth all the apps i need are there. and the best part.. it works really..... i went tru 5 droids to get to this .....money will spent.....oh it s solid unit...the others tablet are cheaply made.. u can feel the the quality from soft...
