WAY too expensive for its capabilities

This tablet feels great and looks beautiful. If for some reason you are looking to spend around $700 (with a keyboard) to only surf the internet than this is definitely for you. I was so excited to get this tablet, and I understood apps were limited, but I figured that would be ok because I could download programs online when needed. I was wrong... Nothing can be downloaded onto this tablet that does not come from the Windows store. The PRO version allows 3rd party apps to be downloaded, but it's $900 for the tablet alone. (Run you over a grand if you want the keyboard).. My Samsung Galaxy III does a better job than the capabilities on this sucker... Oh ya and the sound at full volume is like a whisper. I will be taking this back first thing in the morning for the ASUS Transformer.

I great Windows tablet that includes almost everything in a laptop. It has Word and Excel, a USB port and Apps, but it is a small touch screen tablet. I did have to buy a keyboard because I am so used to using one.

I am happy to have purchased this tablet for $199! This is my first tablet and will be used for personal use. I was able to pick up two of them at my local Best Buy at 7:30am on Black Friday. We recently bought a Windows 8 computer, so I am ahead of the learning curve. I look forward to using this product.

    Great Start for Microsoft

The Microsoft Surface is a great start for Microsoft. The tablet features a very nice screen that you will notice when you inbox the device. This tablet does run Microsoft new operating system Windows 8 RT. This is a operating system that only runs apps from the Microsoft app store that's approved to work well on your device which is good. So that means you can't run your native desktop apps. That's good because the new metro UI that was designed for touch..

    Better than the Ipad

Nice graphics, syncs to my Xbox and doubles as a remote for it. It can almost replace a laptop as it operates as a computer. I actually like Windows 8. If your looking for a tablet to play games (apps) then the iPad is your best bet. But if you want to get some work done, the Surface is the choice. I own an IPad n IPhone and they are good but I really like the Surface. I love the arrow keys too.

    Best tablet in the game

I-pad looks like a half a tablet after using this. Must buy if you're a student or work. I-pad is a sports car and this is a luxury SUV with which you can do so much more. Love the split screen and the customization abilties and how it can do so many things an I-pad can't. If you're debating between the two just know every I-pad owner I've showed it too wants one. I-pad owners-Open your eyes and see whats on the other side thru Windows and no I don't work for Microsoft just an objective consumer. Don't forget to update it when you get it. I'm a Surface fan now

    Great Device with some flaws

I love my surface. Its the perfect device for work and play. Xbox music is a great alternative to other music services like Spotify. Office comes preinstalled which is a huge plus considering how expensive the software is ala carte. All the services I use, Netflix, YouTube, twitter, Facebook,etc... all have great and intuitive metro style applications. Their are some great games also, I'm talking to you Halo Spartan Assault. While some hate the desktop on such a small device, I welcome it with open arms. The ability to view my files in the same manner I would on a regular PC, is awesome. I can just pop in a flash drive and view PowerPoint files , pictures, words documents, and who knows what else. This thing has replaced my traditional computer despite the fact it can't wrong old windows application. So I guess if your anything like me, a student who just needs office, and some tablet styled apps, I would definitely recommend you give the surface a look.

The Tablet For Work & Play

For those that don't need the full PC power of the Surface Pro the Surface RT fits the bill. It comes with Microsoft Office at no additional fee plus over 100,000 apps available in the Marketplace and a great keyboard accessory. My mother who is not great with computer was able to start using the Surface RT with no issues, which surprised me considerably. If you are looking for the best picture quality and new 2-position kickstand than go for the Surface 2 for an extra $100, otherwise the Surface RT is still a great option a year after its release.

It functions like a regular PC .It's easy to operate and so I feel like i'm in control(as long as it doesn't crash), because of easy access to the controls. When it's nor crashing or freezing I'm in love with it.

I bought a Sony tablet on December and after two week of using it i went back and change it for a Surface tablet.. The problem with android tablets is that you have to wait a lot for OS updates.. On Surface tablets.. that's not a problem! everybody have the same OS version. A lot of people argue that there is no app for social sites.. but, why would you need an app for a social app when you can have the whole application/site open on the web browser....

I am surprised that there is not more buzz about this. I had a hard time even finding it in the store. They had it by the phones and not the tablets. I think it is fantastic!

I was really cautions about getting the table. But I bought it and wish I had done it before. I have three family members with ipads and they cant stop staring at my surface rt. Has a little of a learning curve, but when you get use to the basics you get to love all the features....specially now with the 8.1 version and the new search features

If you want iTunes, go with something else

So I wanted to purchase a laptop for my girlfriend for her birthday. She enjoys the touch screen functionality of her iphone but also likes having a keyboard so I thought the Surface RT would be perfect. I read a lot of positive reviews and went ahead and purchased it. Well, what is not mentioned is basically the only functions related to Microsoft 8 with this tablet are the Office programs, forget about downloading iTunes or other programs/files from the internet because you will get errors saying that you can only use the Microsoft apps from their app store. So basically this turns the tablet/laptop with Microsoft 8 into a basic tablet with an attachable keyboard. I was especially frustrated because I specifically asked the guy at Best Buy about the functionality with the iPhone because I told him that she had an iPhone and all the guy said was "All you need is iTunes with it and you just need to download it"......you would think the employees at Best Buy would have known that you can't download iTunes on this device. So my overall opinion is that if you are wanting a simple tablet then this could be for you, but if you are looking for something that functions more like a laptop and expecting a Windows 8 experience then STAY AWAY.

I got this to replace my Hp touchpad and I am enjoying the surface tablet so far. I can be pretty productive on the tablet since it has Word and I have the touch cover. It's easy to carry around compared to a laptop and works almost just as well as a laptop since it's windows RT.
