    Beautiful screen, steep learning curve

Vivid and pleasant screen, but for me at least there was, and still is, a steep learning curve. In addition to the screen, I like the light weight and the flexibility (can use on its own, with a keyboard that serves also as a cover, or theoretically with an independant keyboard). I was unable to set it up satisfactorily until my son who is an IT specialist came for a visit and did it for me. A neophyte will get on a screen and have no idea how to get out of it - no escape button or back arrow or even sliding - have to know to tap the logo printed below the screen. I have only been able to use it for the 2 days since my son's visit, and tried to do a kenken puzzle on it. But the screen did not always respond to my taps which was very frustrating. Even worse, it froze twice on me during two successive attempts to do the first puzzle. I hope there is an answer to these problems, which my son will show me, or my rating would go down to "poor". So far, though, despite these problems, still worth the $150 I paid (bcs it was the old version).

This Microsoft Surface is beautiful and amazing. I loved the color, design, features, and the tablet is very light to carry. Moreover, the price is very affordable.

The tablet kickstand transforms this into a desktop, immediately. No need for a tablet stand. It just works. The battery life exceeded my expections. It is draws much less power than the tablets I'm used to using. Office Suite is provided. No need to purchase. Boot up time is less than 10 seconds. Screen is sharp and clear. The keyboard, an additional purchase, protects the screen, is an excellent keyboard and turns the tablet into a laptop, without the weight and with twice the battery life. The magnetic connections for both the power cord and the keyboard are elegant in design. The functionality is superior to any, I repeat, any tablet out there at this price point. I am fully aware that there are cheaper tablets out there. Fine. The cheaper tablets are great for reading e-mail and watching the Internet. Get a Kindle for that. Is Office available on IPad or on Android? Plus, with Blue Stacks, Android comes to Surface. Sweet!

I had been wanting to get an I-Pad but just couldn't justify the expense. When I saw the Surface 2, I loved that it came with Microsoft Office as well as having a USB port. It is extremely easy to use. I'm still learning and getting familiar with Windows 8, but adjusting to it quite nicely. Love the compact size and portability. Also really like the charging cable and how it is magnetic attach, etc.

The Surface is a great overall tablet, especially when productivity is concerned due to built in Microsoft Office. For some, Windows RT is a bit confusing, but I found it to be an easy transition from using a Windows Phone device. Really the only things that are somewhat lacking is the app selection and the screen resolution, especially when compared to the iPad and Nexus 10. Don't get me wrong, though. The screen is nice and crisp with great viewing angles, and you will fund sufficient apps in the market place. There a some major features present on the surface that really makes it stand out from other tablets, and those are the micro sd slot, mini hd display port, full size USB port, and last but not least the kickstand, making the Surface RT an awesome tablet.

I like the product but little concerned with the fact that less than 32 days old had issue trying to turn screen on. Great for surfing the web, basic typing software, great screen quality. Light weight & small.

I purchased this as a companion for my business travel. On my work laptop I am limited by corporate policy, with the Surface I can check personal email, and view websites that are blocked by work. Not being an Apple fan, I am thankful Microsoft offered the Surface. One feature I do enjoy, is the Windows Office. This allows me to upload work spreadsheets and documents for viewing. I added a 32gig card so I can upload music, videos, and pictures. The internal memory is for apps. If you are an app junkie, you will want to keep check on the available memory. Not being a previous tablet user, it took a day or so to fully learn how to turn it on and off, and by the end of the first week, I was whizzing through the screens and apps. When you purchase yours, make sure to spend the extra and get the hard body keyboard. This will protect your screen. Batter life is good, I charge my Surface about every other day, or daily if I have been on it all day. If you are needing a business tablet, upgrade your dollars and get the pro with included network security.

I needed a light-weight laptop or tablet for travel, but wanted the familiarity of Microsoft applications such as excel and word and powerpoint, rather than approximations. I also needed a real keyboard. The Surface did the job, fairly painlessly. I really like the new Windows 8 touch interface, although it takes abit of getting used to, and fortunately, there is a convenient desktop mode you can revert to for Windows 7 experienced users. The keyboard was of course smaller, but good enough for productivity. I was a bit disappointed that the display only props up at a single angle, and I am taller than it seems to be designed for. I was able to cope though. Setup was fine, and I expect that the Windows Appstore will help as well, but I have not used it as yet. Start up time is very fast, and battery life seems good so far.

Slight learning curve, but overall a good little tablet PC. Not as fast as an Ipad, but more suited to productivity than entertainment. USB port is nice and overall battery life is acceptable. Responsive touch controls and vivid screen.

Got this tablet mostly to take around on - on the go presentations, and try to squeeze other work tasks while traveling. It really hasn't replaced my laptop when it comes down to actually getting things done. I am a heavy chrome user and utilize various productivity apps and add ons that I came to find out were not able to be installed. Regardless, it's still manageable and allows me to travel light. Overall, I think its a nice tablet especially for the price that works really well, for the exception that while I love Microsoft, it tries to force you to use ALL of their software without allowing you to customize it as you would a regular Windows PC.

I have been using the surface RT for well over a month now and I love everything about it except, it is running windows rt. This means you can only download apps from the barren wasteland that is the Microsoft store. you are unable to download traditional programs. as far as the surface goes, it is just a tablet! I was expecting a laptop but no its a tablet. This is a FANTASTIC tablet, not a computer. I really enjoy it. The Surface came with ms office pre installed which is nice. the usb port is also a life saver is, like me you don't want to spend $120 on the touch cover thing. I purchased a wireless keyboard and mouse and have been using that. Please disregard the unformal formatting I used while typing this. in all 4/5 great little tablet!

I bought this for school and it works great. It is easy to take with me where ever I need to take it. The battery hold well no complaints. What I like the most about it is you can have a tablet or a computer at your fingertips. The only thing I would say is a downside is there is not many apps that appeal to me.

The screen is very clear and responsive and I like that I don't have to charge it every day. The only thing I really dislike is that you can't use iTunes. I love that it fits right in my purse and isn't very heavy. It is exactly what I needed for class!

At first I loved the Surface. It looks cool, it has a beautiful screen, the keyboard that "clicks" to the tablet worked great and I didn't keep accidentally erasing stuff I typed. But the more I used it, the more I realized how many apps I had gotten used to having on my Android tablet and phone, and I just didn't want to be so limited by the Surface, especially when you consider how much of the 32GB is taken up by the operating system and THE COST. I am a happy Android user, so I decided to buy the Asus Transformer Pad (TF-300) with the matching keyboard. The keyboard is not as great as the Surface's, but once you're used to it, it's fine. And the Asus has a beautiful screen, gorilla glass, and the full Android market of apps AND Flash support!

Overall, I'm very happy with this device- it has all the perks of a small device, with lots of apps, but also word-processing capabilities. There is no CD/DVD drive, nor does there seem to be a stand-alone device that I can get to plug into a USB port... and my printer doesn't like this version of windows.... but these are the only problems. The battery life is good, and I love the detachable keyboard!

It is frustrating to bring home a new product and not be able to navigate without further instruction, to be informed that you are to use your microsoft mailing address, bing and skydrive, none of which you want to use. Then you try to open a file from Dropbox and have to figure out how to get the content to and from office--a pain! Keyboard works great. Touchscreen sometimes seems a bit recalcitrant but it may be getting used to it. Still haven't figured out how to close windows; unpin some items from screen, use store, get non microsoft apps. Other than my frustration, - I love being able to use Office (the reason I bought it), it's light feeling and easy switching from touchscreen to keyboard. I'd buy it again but I'd like better instruction.
