I bought this for the kids to use primarily for homework after laptops got old, infected. I'm pretty sure it will serve that purpose but I got so frustrated with trynig to adjust security settings and download updates that I almost took it back to the store. Compared to my 1st Gen iPad....well this really is no comparison at all. I still havent figured out how to do things like clear cookes and history, set up private internet browsing, etc. You'd think it'd be under Settings, right? NOPE, no luck there!

This Bose system is awesome! No bad thing about it.

I hate it, its slow and lags like hell. Its also really complicated to use. The Camera will not take video for some stupid reason

I am extremely unhappy with the purchase. We bought it in a New Orleans Best Buy store during our visit before Thanksgiving. We Purchased 2 Toshiba laptops for Granddaughers at the same time. The Surface overheated immediately and screen cracked within 8 days of purchase. Microsoft was called and they recommended it be returned to the store. We learned the Best Buy return policy left our daughter no options. She was told we should have bought the extended warranty or Geek Squad policy. WE WERE NOT OFFERED these options on any of the 3 devices that were purchased that day. We bought software, cases, a printer, ink cartridges as well as the 2 laptops and the Surface. We sent the Surface to Microsoft and their response was we should have bought the extended warranty. We could pay $220.00 to have the Surface repaired, but there would be no warranty on the work. Great we paid over $349.00 for a device that lasted only 8 days. I am extremely disappointed in the service at the Best Buy store. Granted there were 7 of us in the computer area and the children were excited about their new computers that day. Everyone was gathered around the check out counter and talking about their choice. Why were we not offered the warranty options? Based on the purchases made that day we would have bought the warranty if offered, but didn't think about until later. Later, as the store associates pointed out we should have bought the warranty. Expensive lesson learned.

Generally I like, but I am having trouble transferring from use of a laptop. And I guess I was hoping that the accessories would not be as needed or as expensive.

Exchanged original Surface was not keeping a charge. Also when trying to install Windows 8 upgrade received several errors. Second Surface working much better.

Cannot get iTunes or apps that Microsoft won,t allow when I do try to download popup says my internet connection too slow. Do not have this problem with iPad

I had to give it a lower rating due to the difficulty with accessing my email accounts. It is also not as user friendly with the apps as the apple iPad.

I liked the design and typeable cover but could not download the spyware product Best Buy sold me for it and I returned it and bought a laptop instead.

This was a gift to my significant other who had her iPad stolen. She wanted a tablet that had the capacity to project Power Point Presentations for her work. The result was disastrous as Windows 8 is not nearly as intuitive and the Windows 8 in this version is different than the version in the 64 GB Surface. She is a legal professional and is used to PC laptops but this one confounded her. We took this item back to exchange it for a Mac Book Air and she is delighted.

This product was handy and reliable; however it was not what we were looking for so we returned it within the 14 days and purchased a laptop instead.

Like the ability to have both kindle books and nook books Don't like the how the apps are still running and no way that I can find to terminate one

Just not practical. I ended up using my laptop. I'm taking back. Word is messing up when using. Keyboard clicks can't seem to keep up with fast typer.

I've been using a different computer for the last 7 years, of which I have become totally used to. It has taken quite a bit of time to figure out the basic operation of this unit, and I'm still learning. I was used to being able to more readily able to figure out how to operate the other unit that I used when I had a question. I am finding it to be more of a challenge to locate the information I need to answer my operation/program questions.

I absolutely love this tablet. I really can play and work at the same time with ease. I got it so I could use it for college. I found out that the surface had Microsoft Word, PPT and Excel preloaded, (as long as you purchase the RT), and I was stoked. IPAD's require some kind of special whatever app to open a word, ppt or excel file, with the RT you just open it like if you were on a PC. I can do everything I would normally do if I were designing a power point or building an Excel database. LOVE LOVE LOVE the ease of this tablet. My favorite is OneNote, I can take notes (Write them out) on the tablet and tell it to turn my writing to typing! No more paper notes!!! And they are clean and legible. The only downfalls I've seen so far is that there is no modified app of Microsoft's Silverlight, so I can't watch my Verizon cable stuff and Verizon hasn't acknowledged the Surface yet, so I can't connect it to my Verizon account. I can still watch Netflix and Youtube....so not really a big loss there. There aren't as many apps as say on a droid tablet, but the apps available are really great quality and lets face it, it's only a matter of time before programmers catch up on the Surface. I also don't like where the developers put the "Window" button, but that's easily fixed by turning the tablet upside down and moving it to the top of the tablet. I do wish they would make a Publisher RT version though. On a brighter note, it is so simple to use that my three year old has mastered it! Love that. It keeps her busy when I need a break! Suggest this product to anyone who goes to school or needs something for work. It's not SUPER fast, but I imagine if you want super fast you can upgrade to the 64 GB and it will be just fine. Move out the way IPAD!

Surface tablet is very useful because we can use it as windows Machine as well as tablet. Having office pre installed is very useful

It's great as a mobile laptop but can't get alot of android/ipad compatible apps, doesn't support chromecast or the optimum app.

Very hard to figure out when you first open it up, had very hard to trying to figure out the system and all the side tab pulls.

I bought this item and returned it due to its poor performance and poor screen resolution.

I should have gotten the pro the surface RT is just another tablet with cool tricks !
