Customers are saying

Customers highly value the Surface Book 2's ease of use, battery life, and lightweight design. Many appreciate its performance and the versatility offered by the tablet mode and screen size. While some find the price to be high, other criticisms focus on occasional heat issues and the hinge design. Overall, the positive feedback on usability and performance outweighs the negative comments.

I used to have a Surface Pro 4. While it was a great machine it was always lacking a little "umph". This machine is fantastic. It is quick. Has a bright screen. The battery will last me at least a full day of solid use, sometimes more. The ability to switch the position of the screen from forward and backward is awesome. I am still a bit old school and like to write things down and this allows me to do that. I have mine connected to an external screen using a USB-C to HDMI adapter and have not had one issue. I love the stylus. It really is a solid machine and I can't say something about it I dislike.

    Best Laptop for College

This is my first laptop, I'm a freshman in college, and I was between this, the macbook pro and air, and the lenovo x1 carbon. I am so happy I chose the Surface Book, I have had some little issues, like the screen not detaching right away, however it's not a big deal. The battery life is awesome, perfect for a college student, I normally get through a day with 40% left. This is with light usage, keep that in mind, note taking, web browsing, and light multitasking. About the note taking, if you get this laptop buy the surface pen with it if you plan on taking notes. I can use my laptop in my classes, and with this I convert it into tablet mode, sit it on my lap and its like writing in a notebook. The screen is also great, very crisp in clear, and the speakers are good for a laptop. The keyboard is great, good key travel and is tactile like I like. My girlfriend has a 2018 MacBook Air which I've used plenty of times, and I am so glad I chose the Surface Book 2, as the only thing I feel like it loses out to the MacBook on is portability, with the Surface Book 2 being about a pound heavier and much thicker, though that's due in part to the space the hinge creates when closed. Overall though, this is easily the best laptop for college in my opinion, amazing battery life, great screen, great keyboard, and the ability to act like a notebook when you need to take notes which is essential in my opinion for a college student so your study load is a little bit less.

The laptop is built great and offers a premium feel. I love the ability to remove the screen and use as a tablet. I would buy again but a lower price point is needed for a laptop with these specs. Also, the design is looking a bit dated now compared to some of the newer laptops out.

I have been an Apple person for years.I have had Apple pros, airs laptops and tablets and decided I needed a pc format for my grad school studies.I looked at the best of the best in premium laptops.I could not find another comparable brand that matches this laptop. It is beautiful, fast, the keys feel great and it is versatile.I know I made the right decision.I highly recommend this laptop to ex-pat Apple pro users.

I used the Surface Pro for work over the past couple of years and loved all its features (portability, touch screen, computer to tablet, etc.), but had to use a separate larger keyboard/mouse/monitor hooked into the Surface Pro to really feel comfortable for any long hours. My daughter needed a laptop for school, but the Surface pro keyboard felt small to her. The Surface Book 2 has all the features of the Surface Pro but a little more sturdy feel and more comfortable size for longer use. We bought the 13.5 inch for portability. Great student laptop!

I've wanted the Surface Pro for AGES. However, I kept finding reasons it wouldn't work--small hard drive etc. This time when I had to replace yet another worn-out laptop, I decided to bite the bullet. Working with this thing is a dream. Everything integrates nicely, keeping my huge files on an external (something I began with my last laptop) means that the smaller hard drive isn't an issue at all, and I've not had anything hiccough at all. Not once. It's pricey, but it's worth every penny because though it has the same specs as my last laptop, the elements work together better to create a faster, smother user experience.

I purchased this computer after much deliberation and research. I own a quickly growing construction company and needed to computerize to become more efficient. My computing needs were minor, but i needed a machine that I could use to showcase designs for customers during sales, then check and monitor productivity in the field. The battery is awesome, I have it in a case for added protection, but this is solidly built. The touch screen is a nice addition, especially with contract and change order signing. I couldn't be happier.

Purchased to replace an Dell Inspiron 17 that I had for too many years. Started school, so had to get something updated. Like the fact that it functions as a laptop and can turn into tablet. So far I have not used it as a "tablet", mainly just as laptop. Only thing that bothers me is when I am pressing the touch pad, it feels like it's somewhat hard to press. It could just be me. Nothing I can't work around. Other than than, speed it fine, like the vivid colors, easy to navigate and I am able to use for work and school.

This computer is great. It has great storage space and is easy to navigate. It has great battery life and the use of the pen (sold separately) is an added bonus. It is currently used for school, work, and personal use. The only thing I would criticize is the weight. It is not too heavy, but does have some weight to it.

Great buy and great addition to my home office. This computer has one of the best screens I've ever seen on a laptop. I love the flexibility to be able to disconnect it for a tablet experience. The battery life last for my entire work day with around 20-30 percent left. You can't beat that. And it's fast!

No complaints about this machine. I held out on buying the Surface Book 2 model with the 7th gen processor but when it was upgraded to the quad-core 8th gen processor, I went for it--I've been really happy with this purchase. It provides consistent performance and the processor combined with 8GB RAM is more than enough for most people. I can easily run my statistical software. I also love that Microsoft doesn't bog down their devices with bloatware. I also love the tablet functionality, but if you don't think you'll use it, take a look at the Surface Laptop 2.

I have been waiting to get one premium laptop with windows operating system. The surface is the best choice. Build quality and the performance is at par with a high range of Mac series. Charge back up is beast. Love the detachable feature of the screen. Overall, satisfied with Surface from Microsoft.

Recently started grad school and needed a new laptop. I researched many different ones, wanting something that would be tablet able but also serve as a desktop replacement. This has met every expectation so far. I love that uou can detach the screen yet it has a solid keyboard. Sure it's bulkier than a surface pro, but youre getting the best of both worlds in have a traditional laptop and a larger size portable tablet. I was concerned about the limited size of the hard drive, but it has not been a problem, especially that most of my storage is done on the cloud and is mostly document files, however it has an sd card slot built in for ease of file transfers. Would definitely buy again

This laptop is very versatile as it’s convertible to a tablet. Performance has been beyond my expectations and it works well for different needs from working on MS office, watching shows, and doing simple play with a kid. Only downside is weight. It is still okay as a laptop but feels heavy as a tablet.
