I absolutely love my Microsoft Surface Book. It is user friendly, compatible with my school programs, comes with a pen, turns into a tablet and a notebook. I own a iPad, Apple Watch and an iPhone. I am team Apple BUT hands down this Surface is so much better. I’ve even synced my phone and my laptop. Students you won’t regret buying this.

Great Lap Top, Still room for improvement

I bought this laptop for my fiance. I spent hours reading reviews and wanted to get a good 2 in 1 laptop for her. The performance of the laptop is great. The battery life is great. plug it in at night and it will go all day for her. It is not quite as intuitive as I had hoped. It took some time reading up on how to use features of the stylus and switching between tablet and laptop mode. We have found that if you hit the disconnect button, but do not remove the screen. You have to completely disconnect and reconnect to get it back into laptop mode so you can use the track pad. Overall she loves the laptop and it is proving to be worth the money. However, for the cost, I think there is still room for improvement to make it more intuitive. That is why 4 stars as opposed to 5.

I finally got around to updating my laptop and I couldn't be happier with choosing the Surface Book. Great battery life, amazing graphics, good response, facial recognition, easy 2-in-1 usage, fast and efficient. The pen works really well and easily recognizes the pen vs. your finger. The detachment button is weird to get used to, but I love how you can switch it around for studio use. The stand holds up well when using it to draw or write on with the pen. Not the biggest fan of the touch pad, sometimes unresponsive and I have issues zooming in and out (either too far or not enough, and sometimes laggy) but I usually use a mouse anyway. Relatively light-weight for its size and build, and much easier to transport than my 15". Wasn't sure how I would like the gap, but it honestly doesn't bother me anymore.

First off, I'm a newbie to Windows because I've had a MacBook for the last 7/8 years. I like the design of the device but I have had the laptop for 2 weeks and have already had a few issues, but nothing TOO serious to make me give this sleek little thing up. I think my issues may just be Windows 10 instead of a device malfunction though. Microsoft has been releasing regular software updates and Geek Squad has great protection options if you purchase a one or two year plan (I would recommend the 2 year Geek Squad Plus plan) so I'm not very worried about the issues right now. Overall, l do recommend this computer if you want a good tablet/laptop combo. I'm hoping for how pricey it was that it will last several years. Best Buy will price match many competitors though, so that saved me $300-400. Just have to do your research.

I love the surface book. More as a laptop than a tablet as it is a little bigger than a regular tablet. Beautiful design, feels light in the hand and very versatile as the keyboard detaches. The pen is great. As I use lightroom for photo editing, the pen helps with precision. The only concern is the mouse pad, it doesn't have the right and left bottom so it limits some moves if you are not using the pen. The keyboard sometimes show attached or detached notifications when you touch the screen and can be very annoying.

My old Toshiba laptop finally quit working after 5 years (RIP) so I decided to just "browse" the new computer selection with no intention of buying that day. I had heard so many good things about Macs and everyone has one so I asked a few sales reps about them. Based on what I wanted and comparison of products, I ended up at the surface book. I was really hesitant because of the price but after only an hour or so I ended up leaving the store that day with a brand new surfacebook. I simply was unable to find another product that was as good or better than it. Now that I've had it for a little while I absolutely love it and I am so happy I purchased it. I love how lightweight it is and it actually feels just like a Mac. The pen or stylus is awesome. I love being able to flip the screen around to turn it into a notepad or drawing board and take notes in class with the pen. I also like I can just unhook the screen and make it a tablet. the touchscreen is great and I am at ease knowing it has such strong glass in case I would ever drop it. I could literally go on and on about this product but I am not a computer expert. I am simply a college student who needed a reliable, awesome quality, and versatile laptop. I would absolutely 100% recommend this product to anyone and I would go back and purchase it all over again if I had the choice.

The Surface Book is perhaps the greatest 2-1 device on the market & one of the top ranked laptops in general. You can detach the screen, making it truly a tablet-like device. However, for when you need extra battery, attach the screen backwards on the keyboard and fold it back... its like the normal 2-1s in that aspect but without the annoying keys on the back. The build is much sturdier as well, especially compared to the other laptops and ultrabooks/laptops on the market. I know that when I hold this device, it isn't gonna break on me - the weight does mean well built and sturdy which I thoroughly enjoy. I give the Surface Book a nod over the Surface Pro 4 because of the laptop-style configuration - translating to a much more comfortable experience on the lap. The base model of the Surface Book with its 8gb of ram, 128gb of storage, and i5 processor will work for most everyone. I don't expect to make hour long or more 4K videos or make movies - I plan to do some photo editing, create/edit documents, have multiple tabs open in Microsoft Edge, and play some games, which this device will do without any problems at all. If you get this device for 1250 (black Friday special) - you will not be disappointed!

I use this for all of my professional stuff, and I LOVE it. So light, compact, function, design, everything has been stellar. I never really never liked a piece of technology this much. However, my screen has been burning-out/discoloring, around the edges since JUST after year one. Sometimes it is very clear to see, other times not as much. I take excellent care of it, there is no reason this should be happening. I am also noticing the screen/keypad connection area is getting loose. The sound for "connection" can happen as times when I haven't even played with moving the screen off/on for weeks.

I'm a college student who is focusing on working in the NBA and the Surface Book is amazing for what I need. Extremely fast and easy to set-up. I had no issues getting everything to power up and the SSD really makes a difference. Keyboard feels great and the Microsoft Pen is a game changer, especially when it comes to taking notes. Yes it is a little pricey but the benefit outweigh the cost of the device. Switched from an iPad and I will never go back.

Up front, this computer is pricey for the specs. That said, Microsoft makes everything work perfectly together that makes for a fast and smooth machine. I bought this because I'm constantly writing memos, making PowerPoint presentations, spreadsheets, etc.. The keyboard is well made and the computer balances well on my lap and stays cool. It also plays well with DoD sites' poor design and setting it up for CAC use was easier than in the past. The battery life is great and the screen is really clear and keeps my eyes from hurting after long hours of staring at this thing. The detachable screen makes for a huge tablet, but it's actually pretty comfortable when I'm ready to just relax and get lost on the internet. Watching movies is great on the beautiful display. Writing on it is a little funky, but I think that's mostly due to the stylus. It's really accurate and customizable, but the tip moves more than I'd like. I'd give up pressure sensitivity for less tip travel, but I'm pretty picky about by ink pens too. Overall, it's a light, thin, and well made laptop that works great for people who work on the go and is versatile in table mode. I love it.

Microsoft Book comparing my HP Split x2 was a tough one. But when it came down to the nitty-gritty went with the Book due to extra features & longer battery life when used as a tablet, also taking notes on screen. Tad pricey but I've always been one to get what you pay for? Although I usually don't jump on a first year model.

I bought the i5, 8GB RAM, 128GB HDD version on Black Friday after salivating over them ever since they came out. I loved it, super portable, and beautiful. Touch screen and pen work better than I imagined. But then, there were quirks. Screen auto dimmer is a little hyperactive, constantly adjusting the screen brightness. I had one instance where I booted it and it immediately ran out of disk space.. weird. I rebooted it and it was fine after that. Those are some normal quirks that one may see out of a low end machine, not a $1500 "Premium" machine. I finally deduced that I wasn't satisfied with the quirks since I had paid a small fortune for it. I took it back and swapped for the HP Spectre x360. It has double the processor, RAM, and SSD and with money back on top of that. It will do everything I wanted the Surface Book to do for me (I wanted a machine that would allow me to take notes for school in OneNote and is super portable). However, If you are buying a machine for creative purposes, drawing, photoediting, the Surface is for you. And If money were no object to me, I would still have the Surface Book, but with the i7, more RAM, and the biggest SSD.

When the surface was first announced, I was skeptical that it could live up to the hype. One of my customers brought one to me to configure for them. I got my chance to check it out, and see what I thought. Within 2 hours of receiving the SurfaceBook, I was on the BestBuy website ordering my own, and I couldn't wait for delivery, I actually picked it up at the closest Best Buy (65 miles away). There have been a few glitches here and there, but the firmware upgrades that come in via Windows Updates have fixed every issue. This is the best laptop that I've ever owned, and it really is in a class by itself.

First, I love Windows 10! I wanted to upgrade my Lenovo Yoga Pro 3. It was a few years old. It still worked perfect, but I like to upgrade every few years. I read on line reviews and You tube video's and that was it! I went to Best Buy and purchased the Surface Book. Best Buy met the price of Office Depot! I bought the Surface Book and not the 2 because the difference was not enough to spend hundreds more. The Surface Book is all that the reviews said! WOW, all my Windows apps and photo's, files transferred over wifi. I was up and running quick. The Hello facial recognition is a wow too! The Surface Book is fast, and the included pen is amazing. The Book 2 the pen is extra! The fulcrum hinge is excellent. The detachable tablet is convertible and can turn around to watch video's. The scree is big and bright and the battery has lasted over 12 hours for me consistently.

I purchased the surface book for work. Most of the problems I read about have been fixed with updates. I didn't buy the SB until May 2016. Updates seemed to have fixed the problems. I did return two units that had major issues. This is the third one I picked up I am reviewing. My first reaction was to return it and get my money back after purchasing two bad ones. It is such a great Laptop though I really didn't want to return it so I exchanged for a third one and I am so happy I did. This is the best Laptop I have ever owned. Yes it is expensive but it is well worth the money. The battery lasts about 11 or 12 hours with email spreadsheets, word, the usual business applications. Even using remote applications like LogMeIn or RDP I get about 9 hours of continuous use, I have to applaud Microsoft. They did a great job. I would recommend it to all who use a laptop for work. Its lightweight, portable and lasts an entire day of work.

This surface book meets my expectations. I use it for some photo editing and the resolution is very nice. The machine is fast enough to perform all the tasks I have asked of it. It was very easy to set up and I got started using this as my desktop replacement. It is a bit pricey but I plan on keeping this for some time.

Overall quite good. There are some things that could be streamlined or made easier for efficiency's sake like in the Mail program. Sometimes finding the right setting adjustment location is difficult. The thumb tap is ultra sensitive. Like the portability and ease of both the tablet by itself and when attached to keyboard. Great graphics. Battery life good!

I've had the Surface Pro 2, Yoga 2 Pro, then Surface Pro 3. I tried out the surface 4, but found it flaky and, honestly not much better than the 3. The Surface Book is another story. Battery life is incredible, screen size is perfect, keyboard is top notch. I actually find myself reversing the display and putting the surface book on my lap while touch web surfing and playing a few games...don't need to support it at all. The tablet part is about the same weight as the surface Pro, but the screen is larger, so it seems like it's lighter. Battery doesn't last long in tablet mode, but as I said I tend to keep it either as a laptop or reversed where the battery is wonderful!
