So, I bought this in really high hopes. and I was not entirely disspaointed. I'm a developer, and although I prefer working on a Linux system, with a few tweaks I can manage pretty well on windows. plus I wanted something light, thin, with good battery life and 'alright' gaming performance. Here comes the Surface book! I feel it's a bit over priced, yes. however. that 12hr battery life tag, does hold up pretty well... in battery saver. which to my surprize was still fast enought to handle normal tasks. like, email, browsing, music, and a bit of coding.. all at the same time. Were it fell short was with the heat. when playing games on it you could probably fry an egg on it's back lol. no, seriusly, it get's that hot. I ended up having to buy an external fan for when I play games on it. Totally recommend for everyday users. though, do yourself a favor and get the 256GB. I'm driving up to BBY in a day or two to exchange mine for the 256... 128 is not enough.

This is the best laptop I ever had so far, awesome keyboard, great battery life (while in laptop mode), pen works better than my regular ink ones and it is very portable and gorgeous. Only bad part is the battery in tablet mode, but I barely use it.

The battery life, design aesthetic and quality is exceptional. In some ways this laptop is almost a 3 in 1 computer - tablet, laptop and tablet/laptop combination. It is really is great the screen itself can be used as a tablet by itself. It is lighter and less cumbersome than for example the Lenovo Yoga 900. It also has great battery life - it certainly approaches the 10 hour mark consistently. The only downside is the price. We are talking about the fact it is comparable to Apple's offerings with regard to price. However, the fact it is a 2 in 1 hybrid makes up for some of that. And of course it runs Windows instead of Apple's unfortunate operating system.

Worth it, as a all around laptop for College stuff

It's versatile enough to handle most all of the day to day college stuff, and the pen and detachable keyboard make note taking intuitive and fun. I could have gone with a cheaper option from ASUS without all the fancy stuff, but I'm glad I went with the Surface Book; the extra stuff is very practical and I can't see myself without them.

Let me start off by saying I originally went with the Pro 4. However, I feel the Surface Book is more for me. The screen is one of my favorite things about the device. The screen is absolutely amazing. Even when I try, I cant see pixels. Next, this is the first time I can truly say a windows trackpad actually competes with the MacBook's trackpad. I don't care for Macs but I do love their trackpads. With that being said, this is the BEST trackpad I have EVER used on a windows machine! The battery life is GREAT! I average about 11 hours per charge. The pen experience is also amazing. It really feels like I am writing or drawing right on paper. Overall, this device packs a bunch of power into a tiny, highly functional, portable, tablet/laptop hybrid that complete rocks. Way to go, Microsoft!

I recently left my office computers behind to work from home--so lost tech support. Geek Squad was great and the Surface is very fast and user-friendly. Multifunctional, light, easy to write on, and fast.

    Innovative Laptop/Tablet Combo

This laptop/tablet has a lot of different forms it can take, such as simply a tablet, whether attached or not to the keyboard, or a classic laptop with keyboard facing at you. The pen makes for cool feature for drawing, making/taking notes, designs and more. I am not very computer savvy so I will only speak to what I know. I have noticed the battery life is not the greatest, it claims 12-11hr at maximum capacity charge but I believe it falls short of this. Also, it is not the most user friendly when using just tablet (detached or keyboard facing away from you, screen facing you). Other than that, the pen feature is great and comes in handy, great touch screen perception, keyboard is nice to type with as well, not bulky, and decent weight for a 13.5 inch screen.

I've own many laptops, 2 in 1 for may years. Majority of them are Apple MacBook, MacBook Pro and and latest MacBook Pro Retina. I like the minimalist and industrial design of them. What drew by attention to the Surface Book was the design. I love the fact that it is a 2 in 1, the hardware build is exactly what I expect of a premium laptop/tablet. I've had the Surface Book for almost a month, I am very pleased with it, basically the Surface Book revived Windows for me! For a while I was strictly using by MacBook Pro Retina, but now the Surface Book has been my go to laptop. I could go into more details but I would be writing for a while..lol. For those who are on the fence about getting a Surface device, I would definitely recommend spending extra money for the Surface Book and skip the Surface Pro 3 or 4. You won't be disappointed!

This computer blows way the standard 2 in 1's with touch screen...it is a little heavier but well worth the extra in battery life. I get 10 hours plus. Love the way you can turn the screen around for presentation mode or watching movies on the plane! If you are a PC user this has a ton of great versatility and the Pen is flawless! I use it for presentations. One long press of the pen and my presentation is up an running...so smooth! Great job Microsoft! I took the better price and went with the 128gb. I have everything in the cloud now anyway so big savings. I thought I may need the powerbase with the extra graphics but so far...not a hitch!

I was a little weary on getting a new computer, but I finally decided I was tired of my HP laptop taking me twice as long as it should to do some of the things I am doing now much faster. I only bought the Microsoft surface book only yesterday, but I am so amazed!! The touch screen and pen are awesome, the keys light up, and lots of more amazing things that I can't possibly add to this post. I bought this computer to help me edit some photos in Photoshop, I haven't gotten that far yet, but I am sure this will do wonders!! I highly recommend this computer to everyone!! Super fast, lightweight, and very attracting.

Great all around computer that lives up to the hype. Added features like mechanically detatchable keyboard can be used in a variety of positions. Super quick starting SSD almost eliminates need for computer to sleep. Lack of memory is easily augmented by an external hard drive.

Heard bad reviews of battery life, but this laptop has exceeded our expectations. Only if you are running streaming 1080p video will the battery die in 3-4 hours. Fast and reliable so far, definitely a good buy for kid or person in college needing something light and quick!!!

I mainly use this surface book for graduate school. This is much lighter and easier to carry to class. I take notes in class with the pen and it automatically types it for me. This feature is amazing at saving me time. I highly recommend this product.

I did my research on several PC's and with different retailers on-line. I really wanted the Surface Pro 4 but started considering the Surface Book after a visit to Best Buy. The biggest negative in the reviews seemed to be the frequent freeze ups of the OS. Since some of the reviews were old so I chalked this up to something Microsoft would have fixed by now. I ended up buying the Surface Book and sure enough the freezes started almost immediately. After spending over and hour with a Microsoft technician an update was loaded and a missing driver was installed. The tech also did a burn in on the processor which gave me additional confidence that I would have problems later. So far so good! And I have an e-mail to contact the tech if I have additional problems. Performance-wise the Book is fast and does everything I would expect. Adding apps for my printer and connecting to the internet was easy and fast. One suggestion would be to have the Geek Squad load all of the updates when you purchase the Book. It will save you time and frustration later.

I own a Yoga 3 Pro and in the past have owned laptops from Dell, Toshiba, Apple, Microsoft, and Acer. My wife uses my new/old Acer 14. I was thinking of upgrading. I loved the Yoga's lightness and convertibility. The hardest thing for me was the tiny shift key which made it more difficult to get right pinky to it, the battery life needed improvement, and I wanted a larger screen. So, I was still looking for a newer Lenovo 14. After I explained all my pros and cons, the sales rep pointed out the new Microsoft Surface 2 in 1. I loved it! Though a 13.5, the screen size stretched vertically rather than horizontally, so it appeared more like a 14 inch screen, then the screen resolution, wow! The keyboard is comfortable, larger shift key, nice finger pad surface, love detachable screen, thin and light gives me more page surface than my iPad and the battery life of 11-12 hours is nice. I use it mostly in laptop mode.

I bought this computer with the purpose of school in mind. It's wonderful for taking notes in class. My preferred method for note taking with the stylus is to turn the display backwards and close the laptop. The design allows the tablet to lean towards you, making note taking easy. It also allows you to utilize both batteries. I consider this design to be the future for all computing devices. However, it's still in its early phases and has a ways to go. While the product is excellent, it is quite expensive. Especially if you plan to go for the upgraded GPU specs.
