I upgraded to the surface dock 2 from the first one due to getting the Surface Book 3. This is more powerful and is only for certain computers. So, check the specifications for the surface dock 2 to work with your surface device. There are USB ports on the back along with more USB-C ports. I have it connected to an external monitor and then just quickly connect my laptop to the surface dock and I am good to go.

Works perfectly for my Surface book. Has all the connections I needed and supports my two 27" monitors. Highly recommend

For the most part is works great. Sometimes glitchy.

For the price can see why people would go with another product. This dock though works really well and have no ran into any issues.

It works with USB-C monitors. The Dock1 does not. Works great with Surace Laptop 4.

I purchased the Surface Dock 2 to connect external monitors to my Surface Laptop, expecting a seamless experience. Unfortunately, it has been anything but reliable. From the beginning, the connection was unstable, frequently dropping the signal and getting progressively worse over time. After less than 30 days of use, it became clear that the device was faulty. I reached out to Microsoft Support, and they agreed to send me a replacement. I promptly returned the defective unit, and my UPS tracking confirmed that Microsoft received it. However, instead of sending my replacement, they closed my case without fulfilling their promise. After multiple follow-ups, Microsoft assured me they would rectify the situation, but I am still waiting for a resolution. While the concept of the Surface Dock 2 is great, the poor reliability and frustrating customer service experience make it hard to recommend. If you’re considering this dock, be aware that you might face similar issues with performance and support.

It's a great dock for a Surface Book 3. High quality. Wish there were two less USB-C ports and two more USB-2/-3 ports. Most of my peripherals (which are new) are still not USB-C and with USB3-to-USB-C adapters they can only power, can't transfer data so the dock is a little more restricting than I like. It's a much better value when you can find it priced at $170 sometimes (not frequent).

I tried to use other docks with my Surface Book 3, but had constant annoying issues with network connectivity and monitors not coming back on during docking/undocking. While I can't be sure if that is the fault of the Surface itself, or the docks, this dock works perfectly as it should. If you use USB accessories you may have a tougher time with this dock due its relatively small number of connections onboard. If you switch over to bluetooth accessories then you're in good shape.

Very nice product and works well. Super simple to just make one connection and you've connected to an external monitor, wired network connection, and extra USB C ports. On the other hand, the connector does get hot but it shouldn't be anything to worry about just make sure your PC has plenty of ventilation (Surface Pro 7). The video connection can get weird if its not connected properly but just unplug and plug it back in seems to fix the problem.

Got 2 external portable monitors for my Surface Studio Laptop so got the dock to power everything with less cables. Works great and frees up my 2 usb-c ports on the laptop for other items if needed.

Works amazing on a Surface Pro 6 with dual monitor setup. I was a little concerned at first using an older system and I’ve never used USB-C ports as display ports. Thankfully it turned out amazing and exactly what I needed.

I have purchased a couple of these for my home and work office. Easy to hook up and can drive multiple monitors.

Having purchased a Surface Dock in the past, I was familiar with the standard features - power and device access through a single source, Ethernet, and additional USB ports, but with this model it some of the full-sized USB 3.0 have been replaced with more modern USB-C connections. It's a great mix to easily allow exisitng USB devices and accessories to connect, but also plug in more modern devices like an Android phone or other USB-C enabled device.

It works on a Surface Laptop 3. A much needed device if your doing multiple job simultaneously.

It does what it’s supposed to. It doesn’t consistently power all the ports that’s supposed to be accessible with this unit. Pricy. It is okay, yet if you can find a better alternative, do so.

Works perfectly with my Surface Pro 8. I was using another dock and the SP8 was complaining about charging. Now, it slow charges to protect the battery life. Also, had to occasionally reconnect monitor cables with the other dock. Now, set it and forget it. Just the right amount of ports for two extra monitors and two for charging/other connectivity.
