Since all my i/o devices are tied to the dock, all I need is to connect the one cord. Super convenient and well-designed.

Don't skimp get the proprietary dock

The bonus to having a docking station for me was the Ethernet port. Working on wifi is good but nothing replaces the reliability of hardwired internet. USB type C ports are hard to come by also this has 2

I really wanted the ability to have 2 screens while I’m working. I also don’t have to worry about leaving my power cord at the office while working from home!

Yet when it arrived it was missing a key component - the power supply. Also, there was a Best Buy Open Box sticker on it that said it was "good" condition, so this wasn't even the condition I paid extra for, The only reason for giving 2 stars was the there was no hassle for the return at the local store.

This one has USB C connectors, so it is not directly interchangeable with the old surface dock. make sure of the connections you need it to make before you spend the money.
