Customers highly value the Surface Dock 2's USB-C compatibility, ease of use, and multiple ports, frequently citing its ability to support multiple monitors and its convenient size. However, some customers express concerns about the relatively high price and occasional limitations with refresh rates and power delivery to connected devices. The docking functionality is praised by many users.

Seems to be unable to consistently drive my Samsung LED Curved QHD FreeSync monitor, no matter which type of cable I use. Monitor works fine with any cable connected directly to my Surface Book 2, but does not work at all from the dock using the USB-C cable that came with the monitor. Have had intermittent success using a UBS-C to Display Port or HDMI cable.

These are great while they last. Additionally, once they go out, it's been a nightmare to get a replacement as Microsoft is not keeping enough in production.

Great for the Surfaces but we have been having a flickering issue on some of the monitors that use them. Yes firmware was updated and all the regular updates.

This docking station should include an HDMI port. I had to buy a HUB for $98- in addition to paying over $200- for this docking station.

Good dock but extremely picky with monitors and USB adapters. Seems to want you to only use the official Microsoft adapters which are pricey.

This dock is not good. The port configuration is a very awkward and limiting. You might think all those USB-C ports are helpful, but really think about you from doing anything useful. I had the complexity of getting the video to work surface laptops have a combination of frustration and futility. It’s just not a good dock. When you pay $200 you wanna like this and you want to somehow make it work but you’re gonna be disappointed. I love service computers in fact, I’ll most of them is why I bought the dock. It’s taken the joy of some of my devices, so I just put it the dock in the back of my closet, and pretend like it doesn’t exist.

These docks are fickle and difficult to deal with. Providing them to remote users causes issues. I ended up going with a mini dock with the ability to handle 2 monitors. Way better solution

Only two on the USB-C can be used for monitors, that seems silly, also should have one old USB type port, not every device has USB-C

The surface dock is great until it’s not. I have countless issues over the 4 docks that I have. I was hoping the Gen 2 dock would be better.

Does not do Dual monitors at 60 hertz - issues

Does not do monitors at 4k 60 hertz. Can only get one monitor to do 60k then the other does 30k max. I have talked to Microsoft and they confirmed this is proper operation. Monitors would also freak out like they were resetting. No ethernet would work. After weeks of diagnosis and new hardware across the board, the docks will not maintain Ethernet. I am now using an older Targus dock and it is 1000000x better. Do not waste the money. I have no had 4 of them and it does not work.

Huge waste of money. Doesn't have an HDMI or mini hdmi, card reader, or video port. So there is no way to use multiple screens. $240 is ridiculous for something that you are told is NEEDED AND EXCLUSIVE for your surface pro 7. There are $40 devices at best buy that does way more than this.

Overpriced Junk - Too many issues - not worth it

Basically doesn't work. When I connect a USB-C to DisplayPort cable to it, the Surface Pro tells me the dock may need more power.... it's already plugged into an AC outlet. Save yourself time and money and don't bother. I had the first-gen dock and it too had issues. The one mini DisplayPort stopped working after about a year and I Had to buy a USB to HDMI adapter to use with the dock so I could get video output. Don't buy this. It's not worth it. You can find a better one or at least one that does the same job for 1/3 or 1/2 the price. Physically it is sturdily built and has plenty of ports, but it doesn't work as it should, and that is a big problem.
