Don't buy without understanding your needs
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't buy without understanding proper usage needs. This dock missing HDMI so you still need to spend money on typec to hdmi port. Heave and wire mashup design, they should make this compact.

poorly designed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.4 years in it works. but inconsistently. as long as i never touch it, it stays on. but if the power cable shifts at all it slips from the rear port of the dock. Should've had a factory replacement within the first year. the original charger from microsoft for the surface book 3 stopped working within months and this was the solution instead of buying a new charger. the surface book 3 is a great and relevant laptop still but in my experience their charger and the surface dock was poorly designed for the price and expectation from the brand. the product was bulky and cumbersome, and the ports for cable connections weren't strong enough for the weight of the two blocks that it comes with.

Surface Dock 2 is faulty, Get a Surface Dock 1
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not purchase this if you want to use 2 monitors. I had glitchy monitors and they would disconnect randomly my Surface Laptop 3 would go to sleep on my desk while still connected to the dock. Tried every type of cable, a new power brick, different monitors... Figured there was no solution. Saw a review online saying something about this version (Surface Dock 2) being faulty with USB-C firmware or something. Found a Surface dock 1 for $40 online and got some adapters for the displayports. BEST $40 ever spent. Everything works smoothly. Monitors stay connected and remember settings. There are ZERO drawbacks and ZERO reasons for anyone to buy the Surface Dock 2. Just get the older one and save hours of headaches

Doesn't play nice with other Surface devices
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had so many problems with this dock and my Surface Book 3. Randomly my second display will be disabled. The only way to fix it is to clear the registry and restart. Having to do that several times a week is super frustrating since I like to mount the device. The whole reason I got this is because I figured the same product family would obviously be compatible with each other. I could not have been more wrong. Never had these problems with the 3rd party docks I used but unfortunately those did not charge the device. Stay away from this if you have a Surface device and want to use two monitors.

Does not work with 4K monitors or multiple monitor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to use with my 4k Samsung Odessy monitor (using a display port). It is SO finnicky. I have to plug and unplug and turn off and on multiple times in order for it to connect. Imagine spending hundreds of dollars on a so called "dock" that doesn't let you dock properly. It also does not allow me connect a secondary display. I have to plug that one directly in to my laptop. Waste of money for a useless brick.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bad Data Port- Best Buy couldn't help because we hadn't set it up before our return date and we cannot get ahold of microsoft to see if they will help.
