Very restricted product

I had a thorough headache trying to pair it with a non-surface windows 10 machine, despite having Bluetooth version 4 and above. There are many better products which have similar form factor and work with Bluetooth 3, windows xp through windows 10 and any machine irrespective of the manufacturer being Dell, Lenovo, or any other. I did reach out to Microsoft via LinkedIn !! Yes, customer support has degraded way too bad !! However they don't even know there are such basic problems with their products, leave aside being able to fix them. I am indebted to Best Buy because they accepted this keyboard upon explaining the problem, as return within 7 days, else it was a 100$ charity !! I love Best Buy, I have bought almost all of my electronics from them and will continue to do so because they are bankworthy. Thankyou BestBuy.

It's true the Surface Keyboard was specifically optimized for use with devices from the Surface line. We work hard to be transparent with our customers about the specifications of our products. We do have many accessories that should be able to successfully connect with your device outside of the Surface line. Try checking out the specifications of the Microsoft Modern Keyboard with Fingerprint ID here: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/microsoft-modern-keyboard-with-fingerprint-id-wireless-gray/5906800.p?skuId=5906800. This is a very similar design to the Surface Keyboard, and you might find it will connect with your device. Like with any accessory, please be sure to read the system requirements of the keyboard and compare them to the device you intend to use it with.
