Wonderful design & specs. This laptop of course has some minor drawbacks like outdated ports but when you start using this bad boy, you will feel so comfortable that it outweighs its minor flaws .Microsoft has a vision and is here to stay.

After 5 years of use, it still works like a charm.

If you want a laptop like the Macbook Air, but prefer Windows OS then this is for you. The Surface Laptop 2 has the same premium build quality and long battery life that the Air offers. It's thin, it's light, has an excellent display and lack of ports, all to similar to the Air. So who is this laptop for? It's for anyone looking for a lightweight computer with a beautifully sleek design with productivity in mind. This would be a great device for a student or anyone looking a general media consuming device. This laptop does not suit anyone looking to play graphic-intensive games as it does not have a dedicated graphics card. What's good about it? Overall design and build quality of the laptop is second to none (for Windows) 13.5" display with great quality and touch capability Comfortable alcantara material on keyboard Keyboard has nice travel with minimal flex Speakers are surprisingly decent for size of laptop Quad-core 8th gen Intel processors Long battery life Charger has a USB port built into it No fan noise What's not so good about it? Only one USB port, no thunderbolt port SSD isn't as fast as other competitors Now for my needs, this was a great pick up. I got it during the Black Friday pricing which was $999 but of course you can get better specs/power on other laptops but for the portability and premium feel, I don't think you can beat this at $999.

I got this computer for 1.5 month, yesterday I left it in the car for 3 hours. the weather was very cold. After I bring it back to the house, the machine would not start as it normally would. I checked cable, recharged, said hello to it, it would not turn on. I packed it up and call Bestbuy to make repair /return arrangement. Bestbuy gives a couple advises, the "press and hold for 30 second" try tip turn it back on. I am so glad. Over all experience with the machine is just ok, the key board is not impressed me. the screen character is small for me. The wonderful thing is the battery life is outstanding and the computer is very light. Well! overall it serve my purpose as a travel computer.

Switched from a MacBook that had become too slow for my needs and didn’t like the new butterfly keyboards. Came across the surface laptop and was pleasantly surprised by the build quality and design. Enjoying being able to touch the screen if needed and haven’t had the fans come on yet during regular use. Only thing I’m worried about is the long term durability of the alcantara fabric on the keyboard, but the cobalt blue color looks fantastic for now. Probably the best windows experience you can get, although a bit pricey (not as much as macs however).

So far ive had this since launch day and it has met my expectation so far. Ive noticed this is very snappy with all the mouse gestures, which have always been slow with my other laptop experiences (including the surface book gen 1). Screen is very bright and beautiful, keyboard is enjoyable to type on. The alcantara feels nice but now i fear eating around my laptop, but no stars docked for that because that will be on me if i dirty the keyboard. The reason i gave this a 3 stars is for several reasons. First off, the previous surface laptop came with windows 10 pro, and now i have windows 10 home. for business use, this means that i have to pay extra money so i can use features such as remote desktop and hyper-v. The next reason is for keeping the mini display port. I know people are asking for usb-c, which i would love but all i care is for something more day-to-day, like a regular hdmi port. Now i have to buy an outdated adapter that i will only use for this device. Apple is making an announcement on the 30th, If they come out something that blows this away i might jump ship. Meaning, if they have something for the same price with a better port selection (and better experience), why not buy a macbook and buy windows 10 pro ? I wasnt satisfied with the 2016 macbook pro, it was a little brick compared to this machine. And the fans kicked up allllll the time. So i'll probably have to play with the demo models when it comes out. Outside of the poor port selection and windows 10 downgrade, i am very satisfied with my experience and yes i do recommend this laptop. There are more pros than cons. A lightweight laptop with an amazing keyboard + great display mean a lot when using a laptop for hours on end.

I chose the shipping option to deliver my surface laptop to my location since there were none in store. Estimated delivery was in 2 days. I got a notification that night that it was delayed and only gave me a guarantee that it would come in the next month. I drove back to the store location to cancel my order and pick up my laptop at a different best buy location since I needed it ASAP. Went to the store and they told me I could not cancel my order/pick up somewhere else because it was now in the carriers hands. They were only able to give a tracking number. A week later my package was shipped. It arrived to my location and was left in the snowy yard out in the open. No signature needed. I was lucky it wasn't stolen or damaged from laying out in the snow. Best buy should needs to be more responsible for their merchandise!

I had a Surface Pro 4 and when the black I5 went on sale for $300 off I decided to trade in my SP$. BB gave $300 so for total $600 off couldn't resist. It is light and very fast. It is a lot smoother feeling than SP4. I love the black finish. Shows some fingerprints but easy to wipe off. I was debating between the i5 and i7 but when tried the i5 in store every thing opened nice and quick so felt i7 would be over kill for me. Very happy with my decision.

Great laptop even 2 years later...only have trouble with it if I leave it on too long

Compact, easy to use, long battery life portable!!

I like the features and functionality of the computer. Great speed, clear picture, sounds great. But I got this computer and only had it for a month before the trackpad became messed up. I could not move the mouse at all without the the computer selecting everything I dragged over. I sent it back while under warranty and microsoft sent it back and said that they did not find anything wrong with it. Then geeksquad called me before going pick it up and said the right-click was not working properly now. So I sent it back while still under warranty and we will see if the problem continues whenever it gets back

Please please do not buy this laptop, especially if you are a student. I bought this laptop in September 2018 as I was beginning graduate school. I went in for a Mac but let the sales associate convince me to get this instead. After only 4 months of having it, I began to have trouble with the power supply. It would not charge consistently. I noticed this as the LED light would not turn on. In January 2019, it would not charge at all anymore. I reached out to Microsoft Surface support and was basically told that it was probably my fault and that I was probably bending the power cord (which I was not). The sent me a new charger which I received February 8, 2019. By February 16th, 2019 this new power supply stopped working as well. It is very difficult for me to believe that it is possible that I ruined a power supply in 8 days. I initially emailed the support member that had assisted me in the case but he never responded. I contacted surface support again by telephone today. They were very dismissive and basically told me they would send me a new power supply in 4-5 days and that if that one didn’t work then they might consider that the problem is with the laptop. When I expressed my concerns and the fact that I was falling behind on school work, they brushed me off and just said “ oh we will keep an eye out and follow up.” I would have believed them if it wasn’t for my previous experience. Now I am behind on school work and can do nothing but wait and hope that the new power supply works. I urge any students to stay clear of surface laptops. It’s not worth the added stress. For $1200, you can get a better computer. I wish I hadn’t thrown my money away.

As a longtime mac user, I was hesitant to make the switch. I love Windows 10, and for the most part I enjoy this laptop. My major gripe is the keyboard, specifically the difficulty I've had with cleaning. I have followed the cleaning instructions to the letter, with no luck. I would recommend this to a friend, but would warn them of the difficulty cleaning alacantara.

what an swesome product. I have bought surface products since they first came out and they are simply the best. great for college.

My cousin saw it in store, asked for it, and I have ordered one for her. We have plenty of laptops in market with windows OS.I still wonder why can’t Microsoft provide office 360 for free with MS laptops? It makes the MS laptops little better when compared with other windows laptops in market.

Overall this is one great laptop, and an excellent alternative to the MacBook Air or perfect computer for a previous Mac user. My rating is 4.5/5.

Not as light as I would like but the big screen is nice. Great value for my purchase.

Let me start off by saying this computer is great! I’ve had this product for a couple of months now and I couldn’t be more impressed! It looks slick and feels amazing. But one problem that I constantly run into is the lag. With just loading up the thing it takes two minutes! After maybe a couple of weeke I started to notice constant glitches going through the computer with sometimes it constantly shutting off. Other times it won’t even turn on or even charge! One thing that I would say is that this product is good but with some flaws.
