I bought this laptop with a few things in mind: 1) to browse the internet, 2) to do some word processing, 3) to do some light gaming. As far as browsing the internet and word processing goes, it’s absolutely fine. It runs nice and smooth, quiet, and it has no problems launching the standard programs. What makes it even better is the screen is rather gorgeous and the keyboard feels wonderful to type on. All good and expected things. However, as soon as you try to stress the machine with some light gaming (in my case, Minecraft or World of Warcraft), the system can barely function. The fan starts going 100 mph, the machine throttles so easily, and the system heats up to an unimaginable level. It’s honestly kind of inexcusable for a laptop that costs $1100+, especially when you can just buy a far superior MacBook for $1000.
So I can’t really recommend this product, unless you’re just really into the Surface brand and only want a Windows laptop for surfing the web and doing some office work. But even then, surely there are cheaper and better laptops out there you can get? Or maybe spend a bit more and just get a Surface Book instead - at least there’s a bit more value to the product there.

Buyer Beware. Surface Laptop 3 Random Screen Crack

Please do not buy, or, at least read the following. These laptops have a possible design flaw in which the screens "randomly" crack from regular usage. Please do your research before you buy. Look up "Surface Laptop 3 random screen cracks". Many people are reporting that the screen of their laptops are cracking without accidental damage by the user.
I purchased my laptop back in December at BestBuy. My screen cracked on March 17. I woke up and noticed a hairline crack on my screen - at the top. This crack spans the entire screen - it goes down. There is nothing I could have done to produce such a crack. I take care of my laptop. I never really used the touch screen either. Another thing I noticed - something that other people have reported - when closing the laptop you may sometimes hear a "cracking noise" between the screen and the keyboard. I had noticed this many times but could not figure out what it was. I never had any debris between my screen and keyboard. I have tried to contact Microsoft and they only offered to replace the laptop for a deductible of 600-750 dollars. I am still currently emailing back and forth with them. I refuse to pay for something that is not my fault. Microsoft has also reported that they are aware of this problem. Yet, they have failed to acknowledge any blame or address what they are doing to mediate the problem. I will update.

Was looking forward a laptop, because I live in a studio apartment and the desktop was too big. Was looking for a windows laptop because I don’t deal with Apple Mac. They computer is really beautiful, love the Face ID to unlock it, love night move, and lop the key pad very smooth. It is only for regular use and some light work. Perfect for me

Bought this laptop after deciding to switch over from Mac, which is the only type of laptop I’ve ever owned, and I cannot say enough good things about this laptop. The design is very slim and sleek and looks very professional. The touchscreen is an additional bonus and the clarity and color of the screen is unbelievable. Software speed is significantly better than Macs and so is battery life. So happy with my purchase!

I truly enjoy the Microsoft computer’s speed style, light weight, and screen quality! It processes very well. The two things that I’m not fond of is that there is only 1 USB port (my previous computer had 2, which is liked), and the power connection on the computer is easily pulled out. But overall, it is serving its purpose well.

Loved the screen, Loved the form factor. The keyboard was good. The touch pad was large. Which is great when using the touch pad, not so great when typing. There needs to be some sort of palm rejection. Every time I bumped the touch pad, I would end up typing in a new field etc. If I had kept the Surface Laptop, I may have gotten used to this. What I couldn't get used to was how slow it was. The AMD Ryzen 5 is just too slow for 8 gigs to be enough. Returned it. If you don't need speed and have longer fingers? You may enjoy this. Get the i7 rig with 16 gig

I bought the surface laptop 3 a few days ago. I mainly got it because I loved the keyboard and wanted the AMD Ryzen chip.
First impression: loved the screen. Decent battery life. Keyboard is great. Processing is fast. Fast charging.
The Bad: over heated a few days in to my experience. When charging and in use. Laptop smells like burnt plastic and gets REALLY HOT. Given the over heating, Can't see it holding up to regular use over an extended period of time.
Returning before return window closes.
Will probably lose my Office 365 subscription.
Works fine. But can't see it holding up over time. Returning.

Upgraded from my Microsoft Surface Pro to this sleek computer. It's been working great right out of the box. You never knew you needed a touch screen until you actually get a computer that has that feature. My productivity has increased ten fold from going back and forth from laptop computer to touch screen. The only thing that would make this computer better is if the screen would detach like my Surface Pro did. Get this laptop and throw away your desktop computer. This baby can do everything my desktop could do, and all I needed to do was buy a USB disk drive for my legacy software and everything was golden. You won't be disappointed if you buy this computer. Plus, all your peers will be so jealous when they see you pull this baby out of your briefcase. And, oh, I almost forgot. This laptop is one of the lightest laptops I have ever owned and it's so slim and light that you won't even feel the weight on your shoulder when the strap of your laptop bag is slung on your shoulder. I know It's expensive, but it's worth every penny, and you will get $150.00 in Best Buy rewards points to boot. I give it 5 stars!

This is definitely a great computer. It boots up fast and has a decent battery life. I do think the price was high but I was able to purchase an open box for $400 less. If you can afford the regular price I would say go for it. Overall, the color, screen size and speed was what I was looking for. Great buy.

After over a year of ownership, I regret buying this computer. The individual problems are small but many that add up to a poor experience.
2GB RAM are reserved for graphics with no way to free it up, effectively making this a 6GB RAM computer and I feel that loss frequently when it struggles to do too many things at once.
Setting the performance level to anything above Recommended will cause the fans to spin up and heat up the machine. The only reason why I turn it up is to prevent the aggressive automatic display adjustment from enabling itself - the effect is truly terrible and can't be shut off.
The trackpad feels like the excellent trackpad used on the Surface Pro devices but there is a software hitch or something. Every few swipes Windows doesn't react to the action, making the cursor feel like it is stuck.
I could go on. The computer is well built and looks nice. It is very pleasant to type on. The screen is large and high res. Lots of nice things going for it, but the little things add up very fast. If you are looking at this machine definitely consider a smaller Surface Pro instead. The Surface Book might be better for you but my SB1's latch mechanism broke and rendered the machine worthless.
On second thought, maybe check out a Razer or Dell instead.

Bought for WFH. My Lenovo Yoga was handed down to the kid for their quarantine learning.
The Geek Squad dude said this was good. “I have this”. If it’s good enough for him, it’s good enough for me!
Knock on wood. It’s still working.
I connect to work via Citrix. I have many tabs open. I like to think I multitask well and I have a machine that can handle the IT person’s nightmare off too many windows open.
Quality of the screen is great. I can see the lines on the excel sheets.
My only gripe is that I needed to buy the digital connector to allow extra ports. And IE. Do the kids still call it IE? Not a fan of internet explorer. I know it’s a Microsoft machine.

I got this laptop for my first semester of college and so far it's held up. it has all the capabilities such as touch screen, the sleek design, and even being able to unlock your computer with a Face ID scanner. Of course there's also the 4K screen which is very good. My only problem is that whenever I move it slightly it does make a cracking type noise which doesn't seem to promising, but so far everything's been going well with it. I did make sure to get the warranty just in case.

This laptop is lightning fast, easy to use, has sleek styling, a comfortable keyboard and pad. It's an all around great product so far. The drawback for me is that the charging cord does'nt lock into place and it slips out very easily. I tape mine to keep it connected during low battery times. It's not the most atractive solution but it is an easy workaround.

we really liked this when we got it to use as a college online laptop. It is lightweight, sleek looking and just sleek.
We liked it even more once we bought a bigger Dell laptop for high school online classes. The bulkyness of the bigger Dell made us realize how nice this Surface laptop is for on the go usage. Would be great for those who use a laptop for travel.

I love this laptop quite a bit. But I do have a few issues with it. First and foremost my Microsoft Arc Mouse constantly disconnects from it and I have to wait for it to pair again. I'm not sure if its the mouse or the Bluetooth in this computer but I will say, I have used the mouse with other devices and it doesn't seem to do it. Second is the amount your can render on this. I'm a graphic designer and I do a lot of things in and out of my office. I use this "on the road" and a custom build at my office. This functions fine but it does do some graphic tearing while trying to design. Other than that this machine is flawless and for the average user I would highly recommend it.
