I was sad it wasn't included because of the hefty price point. But I decided to purchase it anyway. It is very nice for a college student to be able to highlight and circle words in a text. The downside is that I find myself barely using it. With the Surface Laptop since the screen is connected, it is a bit uncomfortable to use. But other than that it was a good purchase, especially for an art student.

Of course you can just forgo it but who would want that when the pen makes it so much easier to use. Note taking is a breeze and even though there's not an actual slot for it on the Surface Go, it sticks pretty well via magnet.
