First of all let me say that I use a surface pro laptop, so the pen is extremely compatible with the computer. The pen worked great for less than 30 days and then just stopped working. I never dropped it and it never got wet or anything. It broke a few days after best buys return policy expired. how convenient. The eraser still works, the pen part doesn't. I deleted the pen off my device and readded it, I changed the pen's batteries twice even though it said the initial battery still had lots of charge. I also spent an hour with Microsoft support trying to fix it. Then Microsoft support said that they could not fix it and would send me a new pen ASAP and that they started the claim, I waited multiple days and then reached out to them to check the status and they said that the case hadn't been updated AT ALL since I last spoke to them. No actions were made to resolve the issue or send me a new pen. it was even difficult to figure that out because they have no system for you to check the status of your case. Ive spent a total of 4 hours trying to fix and then replace this pen that broke for no reason almost immediately after purchasing. Ive also lost countless hours of work and notes because the stylus wasn't working when I needed it to.

We're glad you like your new Surface Pen. We would like to inform you that in regards to security for the Surface Pen, the firmware is protected by a signature that is only generated by a few engineers. In order for the Pen to accept any new firmware versions or changes, they must receive one of these few signatures. Because of this security, it is unlikely that any virus would ever occur.
To further protect your Windows 10 Surface device from any virus, make sure to utilize Windows Defender Security Center, with the instructions here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17187/windows-10-protect-your-pc.

It is so helpful & can do many things. Taking notes? Use the pen. Drawing? Use the pen. Want to make life easier? Use the pen!
