Good computer for on the go. Windows 8 is convenient for touch screen systems. the only thing I do not like is that battery, RAM or Hard disk are not replaceable/ upgradable.

To be clear - if you're evaluating a Surface Pro against an iPad or Android tablet, you're comparing apples and oranges. You'd be more accurate comparing the Surface RT (or plain Surface) against other tablets. This device is a Windows laptop, contained in a tablet form factor. While I was not a fan of the product when it first came out, I grew to appreciate it when I began shopping to replace an aging laptop. At it's lowest price ($499 new, but only briefly), you'd be hard pressed to find an equivalent i5 laptop with a full HD screen that is this portable. Add one of the keyboards, and you can take this anywhere and have an easily accessible, ready-to-use laptop in the size of a tablet. And unlike other tablets, I can run all my Windows software, not just apps from an app store. If you can use your phone as a hotspot, you're connected anywhere. If you're considering a laptop replacement, this device should be near the top of your list.

The only tablet that runs Windows 8, can run desktop apps but gets hot and has limited battery life.

My wife has an IPAD so this was a benefit, comparing the two of them. The fact I have a USB port is a big benefit. Also I'm able to split my screen and perform two different functions. My Camera is as good as her's. The speaker on the surface is a bit weak in comparison to the IPAD. I also like that the APPS on the Surface, have active content displaying on the Home Page, even though you haven't opened them. I also noticed that the screen on the IPAD tends to lock up often when your viewing pictures. It's also nice having office applications available on the Surface. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase. I also purchased the magnetic keyboard, which is very nice addition. I got a great price on a 128 gig Surface Pro from Best Buy.

I bought this device so that I could do word processing while traveling and not have to take my laptop. The Surface was perfect for my needs. It runs Microsoft Office, and I was able to transfer my files wirelessly from the Surface to my laptop using the "Sky Cloud" application. With its size, I was able to use it on the plane--which is not something I could do with my laptop. I have been very happy with my purchase thus far.

This is an excellent computer that performs as well as any laptop, with the portability and functionality of a tablet. I use it for both work and personal use and it was worth every dime. Plus it makes me look cool.

This is such a great device for doing intense mobile computing on the go. Much better funcitonality than other tablets, as it lets you install any application that runs on a full Windows laptop or computer, because it IS a full Windows computer. The wacom digitizer blows so many touch screens out of the water, as the stylus works so well, and the responsiveness of windows 8 really wraps everything together. Now that the price has dropped, this is an easy purchase. The only downsides are the battery life, which they have improved greatly with the Surface Pro 2, or can be improved with the Power cover, and the stand, which only provides one viewing angle, but a case or a 3rd party stand can provide more adjustment/

Don't know what to tell you guys....this is absolutely the best fastest tablet on the market right now. I've used it for both business and personal use. The detachable keyboard is the bomb! I get compliment on the plane when I took out for a business trip. I had the iPad guy asked me questions left and right while drewling over my Surface Pro. I wish I could of filmed his reaction.....lol. I gave it four stars as there is one negative thing about the Surface Pro...and that is BATTERY LIFE SUCK! Calling all accessories maker to come up with a clip-on battery extender.

Love it! It works great for school, and I particularly love the usb port and the fact that its a full blown laptop in a form of a tablet. I used to use my iPad, but I hated that it didn't have a usb port and doesn't have the capacity to view all web pages especially my school website. Thanks to the surface pro I've got both of those things taken care of, however, one minor defect is that the usb port is a little too small that it can scrape or bend your flash drive. I noticed on the surface rt flash drives can insert into the usb port a lot more easier. The price is also a little outrageous since for $1000 I could buy an actual high end laptop.

Operates nice, if you like windows 8, if not you can change to the desktop look pretty easily. Fast and intuitive. Only issue is outside use, in the sun it overheats quickly. Would recommend this over the other model as it runs full windows programs. Could definitely use another USB port

My requirements include office access, development tools. All of these were accessible on a nice size platform. Type keyboard absolutely required for developers. Disk space needs improvement. I added 64G card. Problem with that is some apps require local disk and will not work with removable.

Wanted a tablet for weight but needed to run Windows - this was a great alternative. I got the soft keyboard case so I don't have to carry an additional keyboard which takes some getting used to but does work fine. Easy to transfer files to other computer using the skydrive and the tablet has a USB as well. You can use both touch screen and key pad which interestingly I find myself changing back and forth all the time with no problems or slow down.

The Surface Pro, 128gb is almost as capable as my Sony Vaio laptop(14inch,i7, 8gb). I've only booted up my laptop once in the month that I've had the Surface, but after I did I realized that I didn't need to. It only has one USB 3.0 port - 2 would have been nice; 3 would have been nicer. Because of that, I had to give up my Logitech Anywhere mouse and am using a Bluetooth mouse. I've tried two so far, and they don't seem near as responsive as my Logitech. Other than the single USB port, I'm extremely pleased with the Surface Pro. It could have been better, but what couldn't?

This product is a little pricey, but in my opinion is great! The screen is awesome. Movies and pictures look great on it. App store has all the latest apps and games! Would recommend to anyone looking at it! Love that it's a "more portable" laptop.

I bought this instead of a Wacom Cintiq for illustration. Cintiqs cost much more and are larger. Once I got the Wacom driver, the Manga Studio and Sketchbook Pro software, and the Frenden Brush set, I had an excellent drawing tablet, that is convenient size and at a great value price. Then, there is the amazing benefit that this is a full Windows 8 PC. I updated to 8.1 with no problems. I reinstalled the drivers just in case. The only other thing I'd wish for is that this could also be an extended screen for another computer like the Cintiq Hybrid does now.

I am not very technical, but with help from the Best Buy associates, I am learning how to get around Windows 8. The battery is not nearly what I had hoped for. The Galaxy tablets have a much better battery (yes, this is a computer, not a tablet). I would also like to be able to purchase a quality portfolio type of case and the only thing I can find is a sleeve. Overall I am pretty satisfied with the operations of the device and because it is somewhat heavier than a tablet, a high quality case would really be nice.

I use this much more than my laptop now. I absolutely would buy it again. It is nice and lightweight, I also bought the separate keyboard, it is flat, fabric back and has tactile feedback, The downside, the screen easily scratches, I would recommend buying a screen protector. The keyboard aligns magnetically, sure wish the AC power connector would align half as easily as the keyboard, it is a pain to get just right,

Having access to Office and USB port is what sets this tablet apart from other options like the iPad or galaxy tablets. It would be much more useful if it were 4G capable. I will use the Surface Pro first but will still need to use the iPad and/or Galaxy when outside my home or business WIFI range. Would be a better value for the money if it were cheaper or 4G capable.
