Everything I need to replace my laptop

This is an awesome tablet, Exactly what I was looking for to replace my laptop. its fast, touchscreen is very responsive and it is built very sturdy. On the other hand it is a little heavy and uncomfortable to hold with one hand. expensive but you get what you pay for. But worth every penny. The biggest problem I've had is that the usb port is not very friendly. By that, I mean that it is difficult to connect devices. the usb port for some reason seems to connect at an angle. it doesn't go straight in. This has already caused me to damage one usb port and had to exchange the tablet. now I am afraid to connect anything to it unless I don't have a choice. Otherwise I use dropbox to get the files on the tablet. but don't get me wrong, there isn't another tablet I would rather have. Oh, and for the price they should have thrown in MS Office...

I was comparing this tablet to my sibling's ipad 4 and it was a bit heavier and not as loud for the speakers, but had much better picture quality. I like the fact that I can access multiple windows, programs, etc. and even run LoL on low. (It overheats a bit when I do use it for that though) I also bought a type cover II for my tablet, but I wish it had a hinge like a laptop. Maybe I'm too used to having laptop, but it's hard to lay in bed and get that righhhtttt angle to view the screen at without that hinge. But overall good product and worth it since I use it for light traveling and taking notes for school. :)

A+ product. This is a fully functional laptop and tablet. I will switch more of my users from laptop to this Surface Pro. I'm connected to my remote servers via VPN in less than 2 minutes. Microsoft need to increase the HD capacity 128GB, increase RAM to 8GB. And I don't think this has built-in speakers.

I love my laptop and this is so much better. Everything that is available on a regular PC can be used on the Surface tablet. Microsoft Office products are easy to use and the quality of a laptop or desktop is there in a compact size.

Finally a full pc in tablet form. I can be as productive as I need to be and still have fun. Improve battery life and weight in the next generation and you'll have a hit.

After a slight learning curve using Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, The Surface is a wonderful replacement for my laptop. The ease of use and the portability are excellent. The battery life lasts longer than my laptop battery ever did. There was an automatic update from Windows 8 to 8.1 which made it more user friendly. Having a tablet that will do everything a PC does was the selling point. PDF and any Office Suite program runs perfectly and I have had no problems installing software I am used to using.

I like the Surface Pro very much and highly recommend it. I use it as a replacement for my laptop which I used to take when traveling. I bought my wife an iPad several years ago and I did not like being unable to use my usual Windows applications. The Surface Pro runs Office including Access as well as Quicken. Boots quickly. I can plug in a USB keyboard and use a bluetooth mouse when at a desk. I also have a Nokia Windows phone (which I also like very much - free offline turn by turn navigation for most countries in the world when I travel). On the Surface Pro, I like the ability to use a microSD card for additional storage and a USB port to access the memory cards from my cameras. For the right price, I'd buy another Surface Pro for my wife.

Tired of owning a laptop, a tablet and a smart phone? So was I so I got rid of my laptop and tablet after buying (and trying) the Surface Pro. Total laptop functionality, tablet size and convenience and rock star performance. The lack of apps is annoying at first until you realize they are not really needed - it isn't a tablet, it is a fully functioning computer. Bonus you will love - one note 2003 and the pin point accuracy and quality of the stylus allows you to get rid of your pen and paper too...

I had been looking at tablets when my laptop broke down. I thought the tablet would have to wait since I needed a new PC. I'm a software architect. I needed something that could handle work and entertainment. If you want every version of Angry Birds, you'll be disappointed. If you're looking for a solid windows PC, this fits the bill. In my home office I easily plug into a usb hub that connects my mouse, keyboard and external DVD. I connect to a full size flat screen. On the go I have a conveniently small laptop that fits in my purse. I won't be shopping for a tablet. I have that too.

I had put off buying a tablet since I still needed to haul around my laptop for functionality of other applications. Although this high-end Surface is a bit pricey for a laptop, the convenience of being able to stick it in my bag and go is so worth it. With this higher capacity model I am now running Photoshop and SQL Server with no problems. If you do more than e-mail, social media, and web surfing this may the solution for you.

This is what I have been waiting for in a tablet. Full PC functionality and power in a small portable tablet design. Windows 8 has all of Windows 7 with the new Metro UI stuck to it. Short learning curve to drive windows 8 vs Win7. The only issues is I would like to see Win8 be able to scale the screen on everything not just web pages in IE10.

It runs desktop software (photo and video editing, etc) and has a USB port. It is very portable and doesn't weigh much. If you fly, this is a huge improvement from a laptop. And the Bluetooth mouse is very nice!

This is an excellent upgrade from the RT. Not that the RT is a bad device. They're both terrific. The Pro is not locked down as much as the RT. Only thing I don't like is the mini display port. They borrowed it from the "A" company and it's really inferior. Never seems to fit snuggly etc.. Does work though. So be it. Disc space is good 128GB. I have a 64GB card installed with 60 movies. Wireless is great also supports 5g networks. You can't go wrong. Go ahead, take the plunge....!!

I had outgrown my iPad and its limitations (more a play device). With the introduction of the surface 2 the original version got much cheaper. I decided to purchase the original surface pro. I have been pleased. It is truly a laptop replacement. I am glad I resisted the urge to purchase the RT which is better than the iPad but stops short of being a laptop replacement. I find it difficult sometimes to line up the charger and the battery life for this model is about 4-5 hours in application. Much short of the ipad. All in all I am very pleased with this device.

Nice for sales personnel to travel with to show off database of photos. I have over 4000 pictures of items I sell and this machine does exactly what I need to show them off in good quality to people without any working knowledge of a computer (seniors, children, etc...). Only drawbacks are Slide shows and Microsoft emails - they have not yet perfected the technology for tablets to make it easy for everyone to use. I wish they had some non-black cases to protect them, though. My business shows dirt very easily and black makes the machine look dirty all the time... How about some color cases please!

I was looking for a new computer that I could take with me for personal and possibly business use. This one is great. I love that it has a full operating system but also has the "apps" for quick access to favorite games and programs. I will be attending a business conference in the near future and was not looking forward to lugging my large laptop with me. This gives me the option of a smaller computer that will get the job done and also allow me to not break my shoulder carrying it. It does take some getting used to if you are not familiar with using apps but it was well worth the price! Such a great deal that I recommended it to a friend and they went right out and bought one. :-)

I travel a lot, and I have to carry my laptop with me to stay in contact. Even portable laptops could be a hassle in size and weight, but the Surface is perfect for me. Its portable and light (it feels like a small book in my hand). It allows me to read email and surf the web, as well as Skype with my family and program while I am on the plane or in the hotel. I create a large number of presentations with Powerpoint, write papers in Word, and analyze data in Excel. I use multiple Virtual Machines with Windows8 as well as program in Python, Java, and C++.

The Surface Pro gives me just about all the utility required for a typical day of meetings, e-mail, letters, and memos. It's fine for the average Excel audit workbook, too. I'm finding that I really only need the 8-core 16GB laptop for crunching large data files. I much prefer the Surface Pro to a laptop when it comes to air travel for business meetings.
