Overall impression is great. I will be watching Netflix, get a call that requires me to remote to our BAS system, to running automotive software. This will do everything from your "tablet type" apps to running special proprietary software that the other tablets can't even think about running. Best for all around use and heavy lifting when needed. Battery is not as good as the benchmark tablets. I also would recommend one of the keyboard / covers. Makes it great to send out emails or work as if your on a laptop. Would highly recommend this.

Overall, I've been happy with my surface pro. Windows surface took a little getting used to, but within a few days it became very intuitive. I am finding the stylus very useful. So far I have been able to run every program I need for work, and when I need to read journal articles I just pick it up like a tablet. Very nice! My only gripe is the mouse trackpad on the keyboard is crazy sensitive, and I can't seem to turn that down.

The device is amazing. I wasn't sure how much I would use it because I have an iPad and it rarely gets used. The surface on the other hand has full functionality and now I use it more than my laptop. Next Monday will be my first attempt at taking it to work as a substitute for my laptop but I anticipate the only difference I will notice is the weight.

The laptop (PRO version) is very nice, fast and gives really good platform for all business apps... I would suggest MS to: (1) consider possibility of un-fixing the angle by which Surface may be viewed (as people are taller or not-so-taller :-) ), (2) increase SDD - 128 GB is the capability of my iPod I bought in 2007..., but generally I am happy with this product and would bought it again if the one I have was lost.

I love the portability that the Surface Pro provides. I use the computer for a lot of personal purposes as well as many business-like purposes in connection with my volunteer activities. The ability to transport all of the computing power I formerly had in my desktop greatly overshadows the few negatives.

Finally a tablet that is has the capabilities of a full PC Laptop with Windows 8. Generally easy and fun to use. I am glad I got it. I can use it in the office, take it the coffee shop, it runs all my windows-based programs and I can even use it for business presentations - it has video out and a USB.

Runs all of the fully-functioned Microsoft Office applications. So good if you travel and use them. Start-up time is quick and battery life is good. The Type keyboard design, though, is poor. Sometimes Surface doesn't think it's connected at start-up or during the middle of a session. Touchpad buttons are treated as part of the touchpad. So if your finger moves while clicking, the cursor moves off the thing you're clicking on. Keyboard also attaches only in landscape mode. If you rotate to portrait mode, you've got a sideways keyboard dangling to the side of the screen. Kickstand in the back of the Surface also only works in landscape mode. Will try the Touch keyboard to see if it clears up some of the issues.

Great for computer development while traveling, many options for connectivity to external devices. A little low on internal memory, and drive space for a development machine but admittedly I am stretching its abilities. I am very happy to have a fully functional tablet/laptop device that I can accomplish nearly anything I need to do.

Not perfect but one of the best for the moment

In past couple years, I have owned multiple tablet devices including Android tablet (Xoom, Samsung Galaxy 10.1, Transformer Infinity, Galaxy Note 10.1), iPad 2, Atom Processor Windows 8 (Samsung Ativ Smart PC) and now I got this. Generally, speaking there is no absolute best for tablet at the moment including Surface Pro. You have to choose what is most important for you, and what you can compromise. For me, this is the best tablet at the moment but still falls short on couple areas. 1. OS Full Windows 8. I can run all my Windows application. If I want to I can technically run Android applications using BlueStacks but some applications does get slow so not perfect, which is expected for emulator but its a possibility. In any event, this is personal preference, and mine is Windows over Android or iOS. 2. Power This is the most powerful device if you consider this as Tablet. No good cross platform benchmark available but if you take standard Javascript test like Sunspider, Surface Pro gets 200ms vs. the fastest tablet on the marked iPad 4 gets 800-900 ms. Compared to my previous Atom processor tablet, this thing flies and opens applications fast. 3. Screen Full HD display in comparison to regular HD display on many ultrabook. There is a reason why tablet world is shifting to the higher resolution screen. When you use a device as tablet, you tends to hold the device closer to your eyes. In which case, you can see a pixelation . My eyes are not good but even for me I could tell a difference between FHD and HD especially when reading words. If you never had FHD device, you are fine but if you had it once its hard to go back to HD. So I am glad Surface Pro got FHD. 4. Portability This is merely 2lbs so carrying with a bag is extremely easy, and you won't probably know the difference compared to other tablets, which are generally 1.5 lbs. (When carrying). 5. Productivity Main reason why I had to get this. I use OneNote and open PDF/EPUB file at the same time to read and write a note. Such true multitasking is only possible with Windows. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 provided its own multitasking, but unlike OneNote the note I took was not easily synced among different devices. Obviously, this is real Windows 8 so I can do much more. 6. Stability Transformer Infinity had great resolution, keyboard dock but it was probably just too much for its hardware. The device suffered from stability quite bit. Unlike which, this is very stable. Yes. It's windows so some applications occasionally shuts down or hangs, but nothing more than on my desktop. 7. Expandability I have tons of videos, I needed expandable storage. This comes with MicroSD slot but also USB 3 so I can attach 1TB harddrive. If I want to have full sized keyboard or mouse, they are also covered. But obviously, I went for Touch cover for now (at it looks cool). 8. Real Pen Support One must understand difference between capative vs. inductive technology. Basically, iPad and most of Android tablet except Samsung Galaxy Note uses capative technology i.e. stylus can be used but they are nothing but mimicking your finger touch. So you don't get real palm rejection but more importantly, they won't recognize small handwriting. By small, I don't mean unnecessary small, simply try writing exact same size as you would on the paper, it is easy to notice that you won't be able to with capative technology devices. So this was one aspect I liked on my Galaxy Note, and Surface Pro have this area covered as well. Now let's talk about downside/compromise I had to make. 1. Price Obviously, if you think this as just a tablet it is expensive. But in reality, this is a Ultrabook computer with tablet like factor. Once you understand such, the price is not cheap but not expensive. Simply compare to Macbook Air 11in for similar spec, you should see Surface Pro's price is competitive. 2. Heat The device gets warm but not terribly bad when in ultrabook mode. However, when I have it as tablet it quickly becomes uncomfortably hot. I am not sure if this is related to me having the touch cover flipped back. But certainly, this is something you would never noticed while using the real tablets. 3. Battery Life Perhaps the weakest link. The batter life is 4-5 hours on this with some reviews suggested can go up to 6 hours, which I may be able to pull it off, but won't count on it. Though there is a hope for this. Recently, MS rep suggested change in design on Surface Pro's connector at bottom, which can carry much higher voltage, and sort of implied battery containing keyboard accessory may be on its way. 4. Kickstand Only single angle, so very uncomfortable to place on your lap. Whether it will happen or not is uncertain, but personally hoping may be with new battery containing keyboard, they will also design the keyboard so when it is attached that the surface can be tiled in multiple angles. Conclusion Surface Pro is not perfect. If you really need just a tablet, you better off buying tablet as they are cheaper, lighter, and lasts longer. But if you need productivity, real windows power with a factor of Tablet at occasions, this is the best on the market. The only competition is upcoming Lenovo's hybrid, called Lenovo Helix which will start at $1499. Personally, that seemed a bit too much.

I had looked at a few different tablets before making this purchase. I have to admit I'm a Microsoft guy (except Xbox) so I was leaning towards this tablet anyways. After comparing other tablets the functionality of this tablet made the choice simple. Good little device.

I'm amazed at what this little thing can do. For an everyday tablet user or even low to mid end laptop users, this would be a great replacement. I personally have an issue with running Autodesk's Revit. It runs, just not very well with larger files. This shouldn't be a deal breaker for others that aren't running such a beefy program. However, I'll most likely have to return and replace with a higher end laptop. :( I was surprised to see that you can install programs onto an SD card and run them. Very cool feature!

The surface pro is great because you get the convenience of a laptop without the bulk. I have had this for about a month now and it is great no problems so far. The only issue I have had is that the speakers are not load enough. I would recommend that you get a keyboard with your surface. It will make things a lot easier.

After months of researching the larger tablets on the market I realized that the SURFACE PRO did so much more than anything else. I really enjoyed playing with my SURFACE PRO on a recent week at the beach. I kept up on e-mail, news & weather from anywhere in the condo. And it fits in my purse so I can take it anywhere!

When Microsoft reduced the price, I knew the time was right to buy. Excellent hybrid device for those people that want laptop productivity in a tablet formfactor. The only thing i don't care for is that there is only one viewing angle when keyboard is attached. and this can be a bit awkward depending on your workspace. Battery life is a little low, but still not incredibly inconvenient.

This is just what I have been waiting for in a tablet/Ipad. I use it for everything both business and pleasure. With the USB port it has unlimited connectivity to anything that can be attached by USB. The solid state hard drive is plenty big and FAST. Love the windows 8 operating system on the Surface Pro. It makes it easy to navigate and access apps.
