Love my Surface
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love my Surface tab. Had it over a year now. Only bad thing is my charger went faulty within that period and now its been really hard to get a replacement. Otherwise its a great tablet in place of a pc.

Beats Ipad hands down
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are looking for a tablet that works for business this is it. A little pricey but far superior to the Ipad. The Ipad is nothing m ore than a toy.

All in all a good little PC for travel
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Once we learned the trick to hard reset the Microsoft Surface when it locks up we have had a good experience using the unit, both at home and traveling. So far the issues with it seem to be Windows-8 related and hopefully Microsoft will fix those with future updates. Two USB ports instead of one and a full size SD card slot would be nice, but all in all the unit is very powerful & versatile for it's size.

Powerful and portable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I waited for a tablet with full blown windows so that I could run CAD apps. This tablet does that.. The price is comparable to a notebook that is capable of running the same software. I've added a DVDRW drive and a powered five port USB hub so that I can set it up more like a workstation when needed. Battery life seems fair. The keyboard works well, but occasionally drops out of connection. I reseat it in it's mag attachment and it usually comes back just fine. The Windows 8 is workable, but takes a while to get used to. It's not terribly intuitive.

Great compact replacement for laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my surface. As a student its extremely convenient for taking notes and just storing them right to my documents just as you would on a laptop. Some professors post notes online so I will download them and follow along in class and add on to them with my stylist pen which is extremely accurate. Even for my online class which posts lecture videos and lecture notes I will split screen the two and write notes as he talks. Great product.

Outstanding product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have tested or owned. Several "phablets" (phone tablets) Called this because the iPad's ios system and Androids OS are designed for phones first. They were ported over to a larger screen tablet. Since I already own a phone. I do not need another device that does the exact same thing. Outside of a larger screen. These phablets don't give me any added benefits. Hence, they are just a waste of money. I then realized that I really wanted a tablet computer. Tested some of the older ones over the years, but the standard windows OS was not very touch friendly. Therefore they were a wash as well. Windows 8 comes out and changes everything. I moved on to testing out the various tablet/ultrabook/hybrids. The Surface Pro is the single most responsive one I tested. It had the overall best package in terms of specs and performance. Windows 8. Now I only tested this on the tablets and ultrabooks. So I really didnt know how to navigate it all that well. Once I made my Surface Pro purchase. Then I really got to dive in. Took about a day to get used to. You really see the beauty of the touch interface when you use a touch screen. It may not be the best looking interface, but it really gets the job done. I discovered all the ways to do everything without the use of a mouse or keyboard. Since that is how it will be used half the time. The on screen keyboard is hit an miss for me. I like the split version. I just thumb it or single finger type. I purchased the type cover for heavy typing. Applications. Windows 8 does not have as many of the phone/phablets apps that Apple or Android has. However, they are increasing. The biggest benefit of the Surface Pro? It has a full blown OS on it. You can load any of the native windows applications you already own on it. Office, Photoshop, inventory software. You name it. You are not forced to wait for something to show up in the app store to possibly do what your real computer can already do. I currently have full versions of Office and Photoshop on my Surface. They run perfect. Photoshop you will probably get used to using the pen as I have. However, you can always use a mouse if needed. Very sharp screen. Full 1080p HD display. Even turning the brightness down below half and it still pops. The pen is phenomenal!. I have only used them sparingly in the past. However, this pen is actually a great replacement for a mouse on the go. Pinpoint tracking for websites and spreadsheets with the added benefit of note taking directly on the screen. Very nice. A big plus. Weight. It is a little heavy, but not that bad. Its weighs more than the other phablets for one simple reason. This is a REAL computer. Not a large phone. The weight is right in line with various ultrabooks around the same size. USB ports and mini SD card slot. This alone makes it leaps and bounds ahead of almost all other phablets. You can add storage via thumb drives , sd cards or usb hard drives. Or peripherals such as a mouse and keyboard. Personally I don't like the touch covers offered for the Surface Pro. The type cover is actually a really thin "real" keyboard. With real keys that click. However, at the price it is kind of steep. Although, I also liked the fact that it acts as a cover for the Surface. So I purchased it anyway. Battery life. Not that great. I am still testing it. However, this is what I have done so far. I played hd video via my usb hard drive for 3 hours 45 minutes before it got to the 5% mark of battery power. That was constant use. The screen was always on and never went to sleep or shut down. I currently had it at work all day. Using it for spreadsheets, email and moderate web browsing. In addition, to music playing. Roughly 2-1/2 hours of use over the course of the day. It came home with 40% battery remaining. Not to bad. I can always plug it in at work if needed. Even in the car. However, I want to test the extent of the battery for future use. Value.. Its not cheap. However, its still a good value. It has better specs than the MacBook Air. In addition, it cheaper. That's not including the fact that you need to purchase Windows for the MacBook Air in order to run any of the applications you already can run on the Surface Pro out of the box. There are other laptops priced cheaper that give you better specs. However, a lot of them lack the responsive touch screen or a touch screen at all. They are usually larger and do not include the Solid State Hard Drive that the Surface Pro has. My suggestion is to decide on weather you want a computer in tablet form or laptop form. You can do both with the Surface Pro. However, if you don't think you will utilize the touchscreen as much. Go for a laptop or ultrabook. Go to the store and test them out. See if you like the various touch screens, keyboards that come with some of them. Test Windows 8 on the touch screen if you have not already. Its completely different if you only used it on a normal non touch computer. Overall, very happy with my purchase. While its not cheap. I think it has officially replaced an aging laptop and become my go to "on the go" device.
