wonderful tablet device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a Dir of I.T. and have been sampling a number of Windows 8 devices and I have found that the SurfacePro is the best device to-date I have used. It primary strength is that it will run anything Windows plus all my Admin tools seamlessly.

very under-rated device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Couldn't beat the sale price. Definitely need a keyboard with it. Excellent screen resolution. Runs just like a laptop. If you're tied to the Windows platform like I am, it is definitely worth a look. Excellent sound to be so small.

Love the portability
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love that it is a full PC in a tablet form. Touch screen is great. I also have an iPad but use this when I need the full version of Office. I also love that I can install other programs on this one.

It's not a Tablet, but it'll do.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well, it's not really a tablet, it's a hybrid. If you accept that, you'll love it. If you expect it to be a tablet, or a laptop, you'll be disappointed. It's right in between. None of even the microsoft apps have large enough buttons that you can operate them with your finger. The stylus falls off it's magnetic perch, too easily. It should slip into a tube like the old ASUS E-Slate.

Laptop Power in a Tablet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the fact that this tablet is more like a laptop that a tablet. I can install regular applications, use native Office, and also download apps just like a tablet.

Computer in a great form factor
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great tablet that can actually replace a computer for many day to day tasks. Great build quality. Win8 is great with a touch interface, and the desktop works just like a computer should. Handles personal as well as professional tasks.

This is a great alternative to Mac Air laptop!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Surface Pro works as a laptop and can be downloaded with programs and applications as oppose to the lower model Surface RT and Mac IPAD. USB connectivity can make it possible to attach an external HD or DVD drive, etc. It works both as a laptop and an iPad-like features and more than the iPad is it's capability to run several programs at the same time. Overall, this is a decent product.

Great tablet!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I held off buying the Surface Pro because of the price. Now that I have it, it is worth every penny. I would recommend adding the Microsoft Comfort Mouse (see below). It improved navigation 100%.

Purchased a full function tablet/ultrabook
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With the 2-day sales, I was able to purchase the Surface Pro for $499. At this price point, it is of great value. I needed a laptop for a while and this fits the bill and my use model. The machine came with Windows 8 and I later on updated it to Windows 8.1; the best part is I can install Blue Stack and now can play many of the Android games on this machine. It is pretty cool...

Good tablet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Initially I did not like this device, the windows 8 environment is not to friendly at first. After about 3 months I have fallen in love with it. The display is one of the best I have seen. And it is quite powerful. The device is very nicely designed.

Powerful, but not nearly as easy to use as an iPad
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The previous generation Surface Pro runs all my Windows 7 applications with ease and drawing with the pen works very well. However, I was unable to get my Logitech wireless keyboard to work with it. So I upgraded to Windows 8.1 (free via online store) hoping it would fix any driver issues. Unfortunately, the process took so long and ran into so many problems that the system recommended that I restore it, although it would save my installed apps, which sounded great. But apparently, apps are not applications. It kept all the Windows 8 store purchases, but wiped out the hours it took to install Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and several digital content creation tools. For day-to-day use, I find the lighter and simpler iPad to be far superior. I only use the Surface Pro to draw or check the development of Windows 8 apps. If it weren't for the discounts Best Buy offered with a trade-in of an old laptop, it would not have been a good purchase. There are other Windows 8.1 pen tablets that offer detachable keyboards as included features, for a lower price.

BEST Portable device, but NOT a tablet replacement
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don’t compare this to a pure tablet. The thought process of “iPad vs. Surface” is ridiculous. The thought process should be “Do I want a tablet or a PC/Convertible/Hybrid”. If you choose the latter, then that’s when you try to decide if you should buy a Surface. And I tell you, the Surface blows out the competition in its category. The Surface Pro cannot replace a true tablet. The battery life is short, it has moving parts inside (cooling fans), and the moving parts make it more fragile. It gets hot. Not warm….HOT. And most importantly, Windows 8 is still more desktop centric (at least for now). You still need to us a mouse or stylus to for a lot of the functions. Especially on websites that have desktop versions that are not touch friendly. It’s definitely not a device you can lay back on your bed to watch movies unless you want hot air blowing at your face. Also, the Surface Pro is a sophisticated machine for the sophisticated user. Don't expect grandma to be comfortable using it. Now that I have gotten that stuff out of the way, I want to say that I love the Surface Pro. It is probably the best and most versatile device I have. I like the fact that I have this very portable and very powerful machine in my hand that is ready to go any time I need it. Say something comes up and you need to start typing using Microsoft Word. Find a place to sit (like the floor?) and you are ready to go in less than ten seconds. I’m not talking about booting up. I’m talking about the application already open and your fingers ready to go on the keyboard. Windows 8 handwriting recognition is the best I have ever seen. I don’t even think I need a keyboard in a lot of cases. In fact I have found myself handwriting website addresses on Internet Explorer. The artist in you will love drawing on this device as well. Its pressure sensitivity makes it like you are using a real brush or pen. I own other Windows 8 devices and I can say that I like the Surface Pro has the best pen/stylus. It is the most comfortable to use to say the least. The screen is beautiful and watching videos on it if a pleasure, but those are just pluses for me. To be fair, normal tablets are probably still better for stuff like that. The product has some cons, the cameras are only good for video conferencing. The photos and videos they take are grainy and poor. As I mentioned above. It gets very hot and blows hot air. Quite uncomfortable when using it in tablet form. In conclusion, if your desire is to play Angry Birds, tell everyone on Facebook what you are eating or creating your own Harlem Shake video, don’t buy the Surface Pro, that would just be so insulting. If you want a serious and powerful device in the palm of your hands that is ready to service your serious computing needs within seconds, by all means, do yourself a favor and buy this.
