    Excellent portable unit

I have full size laptops but wanted a unit to run from meeting to meeting, I have been very pleased so far with the system. Draw backs overall are battery life of 3-4 hours and the OS that has crashed several times when running IE-10. DO NOT have a screen protector applied. I did and found that it hampers your ability to hand write on the screen. Had to remove the $23.00 protector (loss). As a tablet its a bit heavy and clunky but with the keyboard its a great portable unit. Fast start up time. Problems using MS Outlook since using Office 2013 but home Outlook System using 2007, so they do not sync. Sound is poor, so need to use external speakers. Adapters to external HDMI or VGA display or projector works well, but cost extra. Note that NOTHIING is water resistant! Spilled a small bit of water on the keyboard once and had to replace it. Has only 128 hard drive, but I just transfer files on USB stick.

Awesome device for people on the go

I love the size and ability to carry this small compact device around and still be able to do all my hardcore windows development on the go. the fact that it can also be used as tablet when I just feel like doing some web surfing is great. The screen quality is fantastic, it's so clear and sharp. the touch is very responsive. Overall I would recommend this to anyone on the go who has to do real work and who wants to also be able to kick back and just surf the webs while watching TV without the need for separate devices.

At first i was hesitant of getting this, I didn't think this tablet/laptop combination will be of use except for watching movies. I loaded F5 client access on it and attempted to remote into my office from home. To my suprise this is a lot faster connection than I get from my desktop at home. On my desktop you can notice a slight delay when clicking between application. On the Surface pro their is none, it is like I am sitting infront of my machine at work. The real test is when I travel. But so far l like it, depending on how this preforms in my travels I will get my daughter one for school....to be continued.

The build quality is extremely nice. It was a bit heftier than I expected but overall not bad. I am in love with the pen and drawing capabilities it has and my wife has already stolen it a few times herself to draw on it. It is snappy and the fact that bluestacks runs all my android apps without any lag is the cream of the crop. It is like having a PC and Android tablet in one.

Microsoft has finally put its best foot forth on this product. I manage to get the last one in stock. I can do so much on this device. I can do my personal stuff: Netflix, HULU PLUS, etc. I can get right down to business: stocks, Office, just name it. -StreetSmartStocks

    Great Product

I think this is one of the best computing products I have ever owned. I have read many reviews complaining about battery life, weight, and product gets warm. First of all the Surface Pro is a very powerful Windows-based computer with an I5 Intel processor that has lots of power. The battery life is not a concern for me as I generally don't use battery very long. The weight in my opinion is actually a plus because the machine feels rugged and solidly built. The machine does get warmer than previous laptops I have owned, but I generally do not use it in position on lap, and there are lots of laptop fans available. The screen resolution is breathtaking and comparable to machines costing much, much more. The stylus, which is included, is very natural feeling in the hand, and helps to unleash the true power of OneNote, and that is a great benefit for me in schoolwork. I can run all my Office applications, Adobe Photoshop and other software on this machine without a hitch, and I think Microsoft has a very good product on its hands.

This has eliminated my need to use a laptop or desktop almost completely. I would say I have easily gained about an hour of productivity per day due to it's portabilty and processor speed.

My 1.5 year old Dell XPS 15 was replaced by best buy under the ADH warranty. I was given a gift card which i used to buy my 128GB Surface Pro. I couldn't be happier with my decision to go with the Surface Pro. The surface has been able to do everything my XPS could do and faster in most cases. My kids also like it more than my wife's ipad.

I have to be short today. I had to replace a broken laptop and searched laptops ultrabooks yogas etc. I was looking at mac books with retina screens but could not justify paying $2800. This has a screen every bit as clear for almost 1/3 the price that does more. All the rest is total gravy.

    Surface Pro, Outstanding Table

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First off let me state that I am an IT Professional. I am a Director of IT as well as a software/web application developer. I recently picked up a Surface Pro 128gb tablet, and I can finally say that I am pleased. Before the surface pro, I used a 3D High End Gaming Laptop (ASUS), with windows 7, for development and coding. I carry two Nokia Lumina 928's as well as an iPhone. I had a smaller laptop to take with me on trips so I could code and be productive. Finally I had an android tablet for reading and emails and such when I couldn't justify carrying my small laptop around. Now I use All of Adobe's Creative Cloud 6, as well as Visual Studio 2012 with SQL Server. I also use the complete suite of Office 2013. I never liked the mail applications on android and IOS. Since purchasing the Surface Pro, I have combined all my systems into the surface pro and have installed Office 2013, Visual Studio, SQL Server and Photoshop as well as the rest of the adobe suite, synced my contacts to my phones and started using a skydrive. The surface pro works flawlessly. I now only carry it. Actually it has allowed me more time with my family and to enjoy vacations and the outdoors more. I can keep everything with me and take care of whatever I need to from anywhere in a small powerful form factor. If you are looking for a tablet that can run applications than this is the tablet for you.

    Best tablet for school

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I paid $1000 for the 64 GB version. While I enjoy my Surface completely, I wish I had spent the extra for the 128 GB version, as Windows 8 leaves me with only 28 GB of usable space. Buying a 64 GB Micro SD card helped immensely, but apps and programs can only be installed on the SSD. No matter which Surface Pro you buy, you will get a very versatile ultrabook with great type/touch covers. Adding Remix will give MacBook a run for its money with the sound mixing abilities it brings. If you can wait, and don't miss illuminated keys, buy the Power Cover. Adds more battery life without making the package too bulky. Overall, Surface is the best PC (yes, PC) I've owned. My next PC will be another Surface. Worth every penny, even the $1799 version is a relative bargain with 512 GB of SSD memory and 8 GB of RAM.

Wow! This thing is amazing. The screen quality is awesome. Touch, Type and Mouse interact flawlessly. Only downfall is the speakers. The volume is too low, but the speakers sound decent.

    Finally a tablet for work

Don't let the media fool you. There is NOT a disk space issue with this tablet. If you want more space you can insert a 64GB SD card, or move the recovery partition to a USB thumb drive. I love this tablet. I can run any app that I can run on my desktop, including Office. Syncing Office, especially One Note, with Skydrive allows me to take detail notes and specs on my tablet and have them automatically sync'd with my desktop. Love it, love it, love it.

Purchased the pro a month ago, and still one of my best investments. I'm in sales and constantly on the go and the surface does everything I needed it to. I have a verizon hot spot, so I can be productive where ever. Not sure why everyone complains about Windows 8 because I enjoy it. Takes a couple days to get use to the software, but I look forward to it now. I would highly advise the type pad as an accessory purchase. This thing is very quick to boot up. I have had no issues with this machine. This is the perfect hybrid of a tablet and an ultrabook. If you need use of the full Microsoft office, need something that fits in any briefcase, and just want a tablet to play on; this is by far your best option. I also love the multi-screen function. And when windows 8.1 comes out you will be able to do more. I already pull up email and the internet on one screen. I'm actually considering getting a windows phone after buying surface pro. As a quick note: Windows 8 will not connect with a wifi that uses WEP encryption (this encryption is outdated but some offices may still use it). So if your office uses an outdated router, you won't be using this machine at work.

    Excellent Hybrid Tablet / Ultrabook

I was intrigued by these as soon as they were announced but put off by the price. I just got one on closeout for $600 and it's a hell of a deal. Don't buy this if you are looking for an iPad or Android alternative. It's not a great tablet but it is an awesome 2-in-1, or Ultrabook / tablet alternative. Inside it has the same specs as an 11" MacBook air with equivalent battery life. You can use it as a tablet but the selling point is full Windows 8.1 under the hood. You can use a bluetooth mouse, keyboard, and external display for a pretty great PC experience. The SSD is FAST and the display can be CALIBRATED unlike iOS or Android devices. It's not the same high DPI as an iPad but this is more like an MacBook Air. Great tablet/ultrabook for a power user!

Surprisingly thinner than I expected. Beautiful design, and the touch keyboard is actually pretty easy to use. Windows 8 needs a lot more apps but they're coming slowly. Until then, you can always hit full websites or legacy Windows apps.

As a laptop replacement it is fantastic. It is much lighter and has similar battery life to my Dell laptop. As a tablet it is a little heavy and the battery life is about half that of an iPad. I now longer carry my laptop around - I travel frequently on business - and it is now left on my desk. All my familiar applications and especially Microsoft Office work as expected. I can run corporate software without limitations. The display is clear and bright. I am a particular fan of The economist. Its digital version displays best on the Surface Pro; the type is clean and clear.

Just got it yesterday and spent a few hours setting up and installing my programs. Didn't expect Windows 8 to import most of my stuff from my home computer (desktop, favorites, settings#. So far, I love it. Only issue I ran into was using AOL #yes, I am old school#. Some of the AOL screens are much to small to see without a magnifying glass. I found that "AOL anywhere" #using Explorer) works just fine so I am good. All in all, love it. Starts up, log in, and on the Internet in less than 40 seconds. Shuts down in about 5 seconds.

Just picked up the 128GB model today. Bought a 64GB SDXC card with it. Love it. Using the Wedge Keyboard/Mouse. Breeze setup-15 minutes. This thing is amazing. Touch screen is amazing, pen is pressure sensitive. Tested slingbox, hulu, Skype and apps. Very fast, screen is beautiful. Don't believe haters, this thing blows doors on my wife's Ipad. After some maturity in the apps. Microsoft if they stay humble is going to leap frog apple here. Love it!!!

While I am a Mac Fan, this tablet is top choice.

This device comes offering itself as a one stop device. For Microsoft that is a big goal. I came into the device expecting a lot from the little guy. The best part this little guy delivered on those expectations. While I am still a Mac fan when it comes to computers, this guy is just moved to top choice for a tablet device. If your looking for a tablet that can play your windows games this guy is your best choice so far. I tried both Star Trek Online and Wow, and they both was very playable with a external mouse. I highly recommend getting the touch keyboard to go with it. It might take a bit of getting use to, but after few hours of typing its finally feels as natural as typing with regular keyboard.
