I use this device as my mobile notebook for drawing, taking notes, connect to the projector at work for meetings, accessing all of my Sharepoint documents via Office, and I Skype my family in Chicago. A truly great ultra-portable device. I carry it with me in the office all day, as long as I charge it while I am at my desk. The screen is very sexy.

Finally, a tablet that is a real computer

I am a financial adviser who spends a great deal of time meeting with clients in their homes and offices. I finally have a true mobile solution that allows electronic note taking, will run financial planning software and enable on the spot illustrations of financial concepts. My son has the iPad and I tried to use it but never really considered buying one because is lacked the abilities of a true computer. Compared to the surface, the iPad is just a toy. I was not thrilled with only a 128GB Hard drive but I just use a 64GB micro sdxc to store files which works fine. I love the fact the the Solid state hard drive boots in only 8 seconds.

All the tablets available are fun and have their pros and cons. This Microsoft Surface Pro is fun, it is a workhorse with the fast Intel core i5 processor. The VaporMg casing is simply amazing. Nothing like it non the market. It feels rock solid in your hands. I've been an iPad user since day one, NO LONGER!

Since I got this on sale it was a great price. While it's not as good as it's newer brothers in terms of things like battery life and weight it's still a great little machine from Microsoft.

The Surface Pro works way better for me than my iPad did. I can check and compose emails, browse the web and still run Microsoft Office. So as a combination personal device and business travel device it is perfect. The display screen is great. I have the Type Cover. So for input I use the Type Cover and sometimes the nice big on-screen keyboard, The Type Cover has a nice very useable touch pad. I also carry a Bluetooth mouse which works great with the Office software. The included touch pen is great.

If you never like windows 8 you wild change your mind when using it. This is what windows 8 was made for, tablets! Restart in seconds, open desktop programs, like Google schetchup, in a flash. OneNote works perfect with the pen. I'm amazed! But if your thing is run apps, and you are very used with iPad stuff, I recommend you research more about Microsoft apps, they don't have too much, and apps like chase bank or ADP payroll, still not there. Still a great tablet/ultrabook device.

Owned my Surface Pro 128GB for almost 2 months now. This is a great little ultrabook in a tablet form factor. Love that you can run a full blown Windows 8 OS with capability of running legacy Windows 7 apps on it. Still adjusting to Windows 8 interface so nothing bad to report on so far except for 1 thing......BATTERY LIFE IS AWEFUL! Power saver mode gets me about 3.5 hours on a full tank. That's why it's getting a 4 stars rather than 5.

The Surface Pro is a great tablet. The screen quality is amazing, but the wacom pen driver isn't perfect and is inaccurate towards the corners of the screen. The battery life is decent, and is where it should be for a 2lb tablet. The only true con I have is the lack of accessories, as the type cover's trackpad is still pretty bad.

    Everything I wanted

I felt the need to write something because the "experts" really gave this mediocre reviews. If you notice, the actual user reviews are off the chart, mostly 4 and 5 stars. I don't game, but do use this for business. It's fast. The form factor is amazing. I wish it had built in LTE so I wouldn't have to connect through my phone when I'm out and about. The screen is a bit small to work with on a full time basis, so I plugged in a 2nd monitor and it works perfectly. I hadn't used a 2nd monitor in the past, but do really like that option. Solid piece of hardware.

    A Real PC Tablet

I got this on a special sale and I'm extremely please with this tablet. I purchased a keyboard and a Mini Display port separately so I could use this with my TV. I sometimes have to remind myself that it's a PC and not an Android tablet and that it has full capabilities. That being said, the only point that I'm not too pleased with is the battery life. I can usually get 3 or 4 hours out of it. If there was an add on keyboard with extra battery capacity, that would be a great add-on. All in all, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Awesome Experience, Full PC within a Tablet

I have the Surface RT also and that's an excellent device in it's own right. Surface Pro however is simply awesome and it's amazing that the complete PC experience is available within a tablet. Can you run Office on iPad, no. Can you run Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator on iPad, no. Is the MacBook Pro a touch screen, no. Surface Pro is simply put a revolutionary device and I'll be buying another for my daughter for college soon.

    Can Be Uncomfortable

I have been using my Surface Pro for a solid week now. Performance is excellent, I have no problems with connectivity or battery life. What is becoming very distasteful is how sharp the edges are on all sides. When you are holding the surface in your hands for several hours at a time, it becomes painful and when compared to other tablets, more than just annoying. Also a minor complaint. I have lost the stylus twice. There has to be some thought given to attaching it to the unit without having to remove it if you're charging.

    Needs more OS refinement

The Surface Pro is a better option than the UltraBooks. I've been using it for over a month now. I loved that I can install my windows applications. Even though in desktop mode, the fonts are REALLY small and hard to read and click without using the mouse. Tapping with the fingers are a challenge. IE 10 has better integration with web browsing than Chrome or Firefox. In IE, you can swipe to move from one article to another if the website supports it. Battery life isn't too bad. When using with emails and web browsing like a tablet, I was able to get close 6 hours. That changes when you start to use applications. I created a small Blender 3D animation clip and it got about 2.5 hours of battery life. I was out of juice and you can feel the heat on the back of the surface pro from all the processing. I think this is more of an issue with Intel CPU than with windows. One thing that has been bugging me is sometimes it would crash watching videos. When it crash, it would do a data dump and restart automatically. The BSOD is bad_pool_caller error. Not sure what this is yet. Once it starts up, you would loose wifi connection. You have to do a full shutdown and then turn it back on to get wifi working again. I have re-install the OS and it didn't help. Other than the BSOD video crash, I have been slowing using it as my main work machine on the go. My recommendation would be to purchase 64GB microsd card. If space is really needed, purchase another 64GB microsd and use the USB adapter. Add these two and you'll have 256GB of space. I installed minor apps and documents onto the 64GB microSD.

It's a laptops power in a tablets size

    Posted .

This tablet is amazing. It has an i5 processor, 4GB of RAM, and it runs any program your laptop will. The Surface RT is nice, but not only does it have less space, but it will run the app version of the programs. The sound isn't phenominal, but some speakers can fix that, and I would recommend when you buy a keyboard, to get the one with actual keys (the type cover, it's only $10 more) rather than the touch one. The only way you can tell you hit the key is the sound it makes through the tablet, so you don't feel it give like a normal keyboard. On a tech standpoint I've used this to remote into servers, and the pen's functionality is great as well. If you have the $1000 to spend I highly recommend buying this.

    Computer power in tablet format

Although I own several Apple products, I have not bought any of the iPad or Android tablets for myself, due to the fact that I was waiting for something with the power of a computer in the format of a tablet. The Microsoft Surface Pro has exactly what I was looking for. The Surface Pro runs all the software that my PC does, and runs it well. Being able to take my programs that I load on my PC, and run them on the Surface is what makes this tablet worth having. The cost of the Surface is top tier, and well above that paid for competing tablet products that run Win8. The system does have Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0 - ahead of the curve for accessory compatibility - but the price seems high for a device that is WiFi only. Including LTE or 3G wireless would have made the price easier to swallow.

I have own this tablet/lap top for about a month now and have no compaints. When I began my tablet search, it began with the Samsung 2014 edition, but unfortunetly it lacks alot of basics. Its a nice begining to possibly something great, but just lacks on the basics(including details will lenthen this review too much). The Surface Pro has ALL of the capabilities of a laptop (office suite) and that of a tablet (apps, apps, apps.) This is really nice cause I need a laptop attached to my hip 24/7.

Dont listen to the haters, if you are not sure just go to a store and check it out for your self. Battery is not that bad at all, just keep it changed and set up your powerstates in windows.

Great product. Only a couple small negatives

Replaced my iPad-3 with this. Before that I had a Kindle Fire. This met a much broader range of needs than either of the others. I had found myself always having to reach for my laptop. The negatives... Only 1 USB port. No good magazine subscription reader - Kindle doesn't support it and Zinio needs a much better reader Other than the above? LOVE it and highly recommend it.
