    Browser issues

I picked this tablet up after reading all reviews. My biggest gripe is that you can not pull down menus without using a mouse. Examples are Best Buy and Walmart websites. The drop down menus do not function when using this tablet. Also I did try Mozilla and Chrome. One fixed the problem but then I could not make page bigger to view things closer. The other will let you make screen bigger but does not allow use of drop down menus. I want a tablet that makes for faster and easier use. I would not want to use a mouse just to navigate the net. I would get a laptop.

It works, as intended I imagine, but the screen is too small, the bezels are too large, and it's heavier than what you'd expect.

Straight up Mac guy for 7 years, but alway on the lookout for something new and cool and well made to try, this is NOT it!!! First of al, it's not NEW. It's just another wannabe iPad. What!!?? You say. How Could You Say That??!! Think about it, honestly, if not for the iPad, would this product even exist?? If you answered yourself HONESTLY, you would obviously said 'no'. Second, its not cool. They are trying, oh so hard to make it seem cool, but it's not. Well made??? That remains to be seen, but at my first go around with, I wasn't impressed, but then it is MS branded and it seems they can't build hardware any better than the Software/OS that led me to (joyfully) try Apple all of those years ago. A company that makes a product so satisfying, that the simplest task to the mightiest brings a smile to my face when i open the lid, wiggle the mouse, or flick on my iPhone. Products that I use, sometimes just to use, because they are so damx cool. Just remember, MS diehard's, early adopters, or whatever the reason, remember the XBOX360 and its "Red Ring of Death", remember Windows(insert version) OS and i suppose, try and remember their attempts at a cell phone. Best of Luck to you, here's hoping the product is around a year from now and that there is/and/or remains support, apps, parts, a real selection of cables, cases, artistry pens, you know, trivial stuff like that, for years and years. Quite the expensive gamble to find out. IMHO. JL

I don't love the new microsoft interface. If you can get past that then this is a pretty cool tablet. It's a bit glitchy sometimes.

Not ready for prime time, purchased one last night at the local best buy. It was dead out of the box. hooked up the charger and it was still dead. called the geek squad to see if i am doing something wrong and their response was worse than dumb and dumber. The conversation was like monty python's pet shop skit. returned the unit for s second one. tried powering it up in the store and guess what? It was a rerun of the first unit. Quality of the build looked good but the quality of the innards obviously was bad. Not ready for prime time. Got my money refunded and will wait for the next generation, by then I hope Microsoft will have the assembly bugs worked out.

    A Quick Disappointment

I was really looking forward to having a state-of-the-art PC that would make my life more efficient and effective. The first problem was when I attached the Surface Type Cover. The PC wouldn't allow me to use the screen keyboard with the Type Cover attached. This is a problem when working at night in the dark. But, this problem resolved itself rather quickly so I decided to stick with it. From then on it ran great until two days ago. The screen brightness began to continually change which is incredibly annoying when trying to read. Then the kicker, the screen began to give me a lot of problems. The settings screen was blank, the app screen didn't show the right apps in the right places, and everything was completely garbled. That is when I threw in the towel. I'm done.

Just to start off I had high hopes for this, and I bought it, then returned it.. This has great potential to come out with improvements to be better. When trying to read books and comic books, it's weird, it is two long, it should feel like holding a page not a long board. Screen is way to small to do anything windows based on, I was even thinking about the yoga but it's not a true hd screen, plus the price is way to high, I rather deal with an ipad for half the cost and buy a laptop with the same specs and half the cost. Once they have a bigger screen and not such a weird screen orientation I will def buy, I'm really rooting for windows on this one but I had to buy the ipad instead,

Hardware is great. Windows 8 is worthless

People are calling this the "Post-PC Era." I certainly hope the new "features" here aren't the norm now. There's really nothing worthwhile in Windows 8 that wasn't in 7. The appstore is nothing but juvenile novelties. There's nothing there that classic 10-year-old opensource programs and browser-based tools don't do better. And even if something useful gets added, it requires a Microsoft account to install. Unless they enable Skydrive encryption and ease up on the despicable terms of service for an account, that's out of the question. Bottom line: GREAT tablet, but only if wiped and Ubuntu installed.

Surface Pro - An Expensive Dud!

This is a total turkey and complete waste of money! You cannot hear the volume even when turned all the way up. Its hot to the touch, so hot you can use it as a hand warmer in mid winter or run a realistic video of a fireplace and people would think its real if they were near the back of this expensive dud. Its heavy and hard to hold too. Wait for a refresh and even then...wait some more. This is the most expensive turkey ever hoisted on consumers and it simply does NOT fly!

    Not so great Surface

The Microsoft Surface is a piece of garbage. After deboxing it, I noticed the kickstand came damaged and didn't lay flat against the surface. The charger fell apart as I lightly unplugged it from the surface. The keyboard wasn't very responsive; It would lag on the key presses and other times it would just stop working. It was also awkward to work and play around with. I would not suggest buying one. It does not live up to the craftsmanship Microsoft is claiming.

    Great - when it works

The least reliable computer I've ever owned. Frequently drops WiFi (extender is 3 feet away). Sometime loses Bluetooth connection to (Microsoft) mouse. Restarting often fixes connectivity problems, but sometimes it just won't restart. After sitting for a while, it responds to the power button. Sends dumps to Microsoft weekly because it "stopped working". No useful diagnostics in Windows 8. I should mention that I have been a software developer for 40 years and have owned built, modified, and upgraded many computers, starting before the IBM PC was introduced.

    Poor quality and customer service

Exterior kickstand snaps off easily and Microsoft won't sell replacements (just two screws holding it on# - instead you have to pay to ship it to them, have it re-built, and pay to ship it back. Keyboard stops working all the time and has to be removed and re-attached to work again. The charger cable #magnetic) often doesn't make a connection and doesn't charge - you have to make sure you see the light each time. Screen scratches easily.

This tablet would have been great if it didn't always freeze. At times, additionally, the touch screen DOES NOT respond to touch! When emailing, you have to double-tap ALOT!
