The summary above says it all. I am really glad that I bought this as a travel computer. It's really convenient to have the same desktop and software that I have on my main laptop when I am travelling. I did my homework prior to purchasing and decided what I wanted based on price and value. This works out for me perfectly. I also bought the Microsoft ARC Mouse, the Pen, an SD card and the bag to keep it all in. It's fast, there's more than enough storage on board although I bought a SD card. I use cloud storage so that's not really an issue. Overall, I am very pleased.

    Not worth the money

I was looking for a decent laptop or tablet to take handwritten notes on for school. Ultimately, I ended up on the Surface Pro because I also needed something that could run Windows so that I could install some specific programs for my classes. I REALLY wanted to like this, but unfortunately I don't. There's more cons than pros when it comes to this machine. As far as pros, I like the build quality of the computer itself and the fact that you can take notes with the surface pen. That's it. Now for the cons. There are only 3 inputs on this machine. You get a headphone jack, a display port and a USB port. The included keyboard for this model wears down very quickly. It's got a soft touch to it but as a result, the materials allow for premature wear on the corners of the keyboard. As far as the typing experience, it's fine. When it comes to the pen, I am VERY picky about the writing experience. When comparing the surface pro 6, the iPad Pro, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6, the Surface is dead last. I primarily use One Note and White board. Most of the time the latency is noticeable when writing, especially when charging the Surface and writing at the same time. For Whiteboard the latency can be horrendous at times and makes the program unusable. The battery life was my biggest concern because I tend to have long days. The specs claim 13.5 hours of battery life and field testers online claimed around 9 hours. However, in my case neither of these were true. I usually get about 5 to 6 hours before I have to start looking for an outlet. In the instructions and on Microsoft’s site, they provide information on how to extend battery life and I followed these guidelines but the only way for me to extend my battery life is to go into Battery Saver mode. Personally, I don’t like having to use Battery Saver all the time because the screen becomes too dim to read in well lit areas and the performance isn’t as good. It is also important to note that when charging and using the computer, the system gets hot and begins to slow down. As a side note, facial recognition only works about 20 percent of the time. I’ve tried calibrating it further and it doesn’t seem to help. With all that being said, I really don’t think it is worth the money. It’s overpriced for not only the specs, but for the way the machine operates. As far as computing needs, there are a lot of other Windows laptop options that offer good quality AND good pricing. When looking at the Surface Pro 6 from a hand written, note taking perspective, you’re better off getting an IPad Pro. It’s about the same price and the writing/drawing experience is way better on the IPad.

I bought Surface Pro 4 before, unfortunately didn't go well due to flicker and battery issue. I bought this one thru trade-in, still had to pay additional $550 from my packet. Three main reasons, battery backup is improved, touch screen with pen and light weight.

All 3 of my teenagers love their Surface Pro. They are easy to use, light, and relatively sturdy in comparison to other tablets and portable computers. My one gripe is that repairing a surface pro seems to be more expensive to repair than laptops from competing brands. My oldest child just replaced her surface with a new one due to the high cost in repairing a shattered screen with a very slightly dented frame. The screen protector stayed intact but the computer screen shattered. The 3 year old device's repair quote was comparable to purchasing a brand new device. Hopefully the newer model will be a little tougher. Overall, we are still very satisfied with our purchases.

I really do like this 2 in 1. Its runs great and looks very sharp. I was however disappointed to find out microsoft word is not free with this device. Also it is very hard to sit it in my lap and type works fine on a hard surface though.
