When I got the i5 it was a night and day difference. This thing is FAST. Excel, word, powerpoint, youtube, everything just opens in a matter of seconds. I would say in terms of basic tasks this is just as fast as my msi gaming laptop which cost me 2000. Obviously the surface cant play games but it is good for a student

Surface Pro 7 or iPad Pro?

I use the iPad Pro more for consuming content. I read my email, browse the internet, use the Maps app, etc. But sometimes you need more from your applications than iPadOS can do efficiently. The Surface Pro 7 is a full Windows 10 computer, albeit with a smaller screen. With the keyboard it can do more stuff. But those features mean that the basic tablet stuff you want to do is a bit awkward. I would not own an iPad without a regular computer but it is conceivable to own the Surface Pro 7 with keyboard as your only computer.

The screen is a nice size and it is very light compared to the Surface 2.

This surface Pro is just as awesome as an iPad! I LOVE how I can write on the screen with a stylus. The kickstand is cool. The type cover helps make the computer more portable. It’s light weight so I will not mind traveling with it. I have a large second monitor that I will hook up to my new surface pro to use when I work on big projects. Excellent experience.
