The Type Cover for the Surface Pro 3 was something I really wanted to get to make the "computer" side of this tablet more functional. Unfortunately, although the Type Cover is great for typing it is not very useful for anything else and it almost seems like Microsoft did not design the Surface Pro 3 with this accessory in mind. Whenever you use your fingers or the stylus on the screen of the tablet it automatically pulls up the on-screen keyboard. This can be very annoying. For example when you are going to unlock the computer and swipe up, then need to type in your password - the onscreen keyboard shoots out even though the Type Cover is connected. The worst feature of the Type Cover though is the trackpad (mouse replacement). This thing just flat out does not work well. Clicking anything is a painstaking process, trying to highlight something is near impossible, and when I work in Word (which I do a lot) it really slows me down when formatting documents because it is like handling a sensitive bomb instead of being able to easily navigate. The problem is - you pretty much have to buy it to make the Surface Pro 3 useful as a computer. The overall Surface Pro 3 concept is great and it is a handy device for traveling, but they need to work the kinks out with this Type Cover to really allow for the best use of the Pro 3. I would advise purchasing a cordless mouse if you really want to be able to navigate smoothly.
