I suggest getting extended warranty if you can afford the extra money. They used to charge less for extended warranty, so it was always a yes, but now it costs almost half the cost of the controller, i.e., if you buy the controller on sale, otherwise, it would be 1/3 cost of the controller to get the extended warranty.
