I've grown up with every iteration of the PlayStation, but for gaming on a PC, Sony controllers are highly finicky and erratic. Given the Microsoft relationship, the Xbox controllers were supposed to be far more compatible. So far, from what I can tell, they are. The controller feels alright to hold, just different from what I'm accustomed to. It isn't a bad thing—it's still highly responsive. I just am not the biggest fan of the layout.
