I for one am not terribly concerned with looks just so long as it works as a controller. How ever if the metallic looking ones would have been on sale too I would have gotten one of them instead. The whole changing d pad thing didn't make any difference in my opinion, seemingly no point to the adjustable-ness of it but whatever.
