3 out of 5 stars – Great features, but durability

The Elite Series 2 controller has some fantastic customization options—adjustable tension thumbsticks, swappable components, and a built-in rechargeable battery that lasts quite a while. The grip feels premium, and the paddles can really improve gameplay once you get used to them. However, for a controller in this price range, the long-term build quality is questionable. After just a few months of regular use, I started experiencing stick drift and issues with the bumpers. It's frustrating considering how much it costs. Microsoft nailed the design and features, but they really need to improve the reliability for it to be worth the premium price.

I've been using regular controllers for a while and decided it would be worth it to switch to an Xbox Elite, and the features it comes with are TOTALLY worth it, the addition of back paddles is quite useful and the ability to tweak how tight the joysticks are is incredibly useful, I use it almost daily on my PC and have absolutely no issues, it connects just fine, the battery lasts quite a long time, and is all around very comfortable to use.

Weight feels premium, I love the rubber on the hand grips. The adjustable triggers are great for Call of Duty and other FPS shooters. The small metal details all over really make it feel like an upgrade over the standard. The built in rechargeable battery and USB - C charging are great and the battery life is long. The only issue I had was that the X button was sticking slightly when I first received the controller however that issue resolved itself and the controller has been great since.

If you like the ability to customize your controller with different analog stick options, interchangeable D-pads, four additional buttons, and being able to tweak both the triggers and the analog sticks then this is the controller for you. Even with the pretty high price tag, this is a good controller thanks to its customization, rubber grips, and not have to deal with batteries anymore. Plus it comes with a carrying case that can also charge the controller as well in addition to holding all the left over accessories. This controller for sure feels premium thanks especially to how it’s made. The bumpers, triggers, D-pad, and the analog sticks are made of metal which gives it a heavier feel in comparison to your average Xbox controller if you like having more weight in your controller. Looking past the price point, this controller cones highly recommended to hardcore Xbox gamers and for those who love customization.

The controller that likes being manhandled

If a regular Xbox controller is a trusty sedan, the Elite Series 2 is a fully loaded sports car with heated seats, adaptive suspension, and a smug sense of superiority. From the moment you pick it up, it whispers, “You deserve better.” The rubberized grips feel like they were designed by a team of ergonomic wizards who moonlight as hand therapists. The swappable thumbsticks and paddles? Pure modular joy — like LEGO for grown-up gamers with commitment issues. Battery life clocks in at a ridiculous 40 hours, which is either a blessing or a subtle challenge to your sleep schedule. And the adjustable tension sticks? Let’s just say they’re the closest thing to analog therapy. Yes, it’s pricey. But so is sushi-grade tuna, and you don’t see anyone regretting that.

A little pricey, but if you can afford it, I would recommend it. It has a nice grip, feels weighty, and you can swap out pieces easily. The removable pieces are magnetic. No fear of accidentally breaking the plastic. Nothing about the controller feels cheap. It's strong and durable. It is equipped with a rechargeable battery, and the life of the battery lasts a long time. This controller comes with its own case which makes for great storage. A great controller if you are a serious gamer.

I have mixed reviews with this though overall positive. From a gaming standpoint: fantastic controller. It feels great to use, really good grip, I love the paddles on the back and the customization. I like that you get extras to make it more customized and things can be easily swapped out. I have an issue with the quality control. I had to return my first one because I got stick drift. My second one also has a very slight stick drift. It doesn’t bother me much so I might keep this one vs swapping it out again. The first one never had issues pairing Bluetooth once turned on. The second one tends to not always connect and I have to re-pair through Bluetooth, a little inconvenient. For the price, I would expect it to be perfect.

I have the original Xbox elite controller and absolutely loved it. Still not a single issue with it besides the grips starting to peel but that’s after a couple years. The new elite series 2 feels so good in the hands and the fact that the battery is built in makes it even better. All the options of fine tuning to you’re liking is incredible for whatever games you play. I don’t have full use of my right hand in my pinky and ring finger so a controller like this with the paddles on the back make it easier for multitasking while gaming.

    Premium Quality, Built to Last

I recently purchased the Microsoft Elite Series 2 Core Wireless Controller after reading numerous positive reviews, and I am highly impressed with the quality right out of the box. The controller has an excellent, premium feel and a distinctly high-quality build. It immediately feels like an upgrade designed for serious gaming. The adjustable thumbstick tension and customizable button mapping make this a game-changer, allowing me to fine-tune the controller to my strengths and playstyle. This level of personalization is fantastic for improving performance and enjoying winning streaks. A significant benefit of uninterrupted gameplay is the convenience of unlimited gaming: you can keep the charger attached while you play, allowing for non-stop enjoyment. While I acknowledge that no product is perfect and have seen some negative feedback, I believe issues often come down to usage. For serious gamers who handle their gear with intense gripping, quick frustration, or high-intensity demands, any controller will eventually face stress. Fortunately, for players who maintain a calm, consistent, and careful approach to their hardware, this controller's robust, adjustable design will undoubtedly last and greatly enhance their gaming experience. This product is a high-value investment for those seeking precision and quality.

    Best Controller on the Market

This is the best controller for gaming. I use this primarily on PC, not on the Xbox. Sony's cheap uncomfortable design is just lackluster for gaming for extended hours and causes your hand to cramp up, which can be painful. The regular Xbox Controller is ok and comfortable, But this Elite Series 2 is amazing as its even more comfortable and just feels amazing in every aspect. From the smooth upgraded joysticks, to the rubberized grip on the handles. Most of the parts can be swapped out as well which is a huge plus if you are as aggressive a gamer as I am. I'd recommend this over any controller on the market. Definitely worth the extra cost.

I’ve used a lot of controllers over the years, but the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 is on another level. The grip feels premium, the buttons are super responsive, and the adjustable triggers make gaming feel smooth and competitive. Battery life is great, customization options are insane, and it honestly made a huge difference in my gameplay. Definitely worth it if you game a lot and want something that feels high-end and reliable. Easy 10/10 for me.

Really happy with this controller so far! The feel is solid — nice grips, good weight, and it just works. I love being able to tweak sticks and triggers, and the rechargeable battery lasts me through long sessions. Setup was easy via USB-C or Bluetooth, and it’s great on both Xbox and PC. Only minor thing: it’s a bit pricey, and if you’re after paddles or extras you’ll need to spend more. Overall though, well worth it if you’re serious about your game.

Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 is frustrating because it’s so close to being the perfect controller. The build quality feels premium, the customization options are excellent, and the adjustable sticks and triggers make it one of the best-feeling controllers Microsoft has ever made. When it works, it’s genuinely fantastic. The problem is durability. The rear paddles/buttons never felt quite as solid or responsive as they should at this price point, and eventually stick drift became impossible to ignore. That completely killed the long-term value for me. I ultimately switched to a Razer controller instead because it feels beefier, sturdier, and more dependable during long gaming sessions. That said, I still think Microsoft is very close. If an eventual Series 3 improves the rear button design and finally solves the drift issues, it could easily become the best premium controller on the market. As it stands now, it’s a strong controller held back by reliability concerns, which is why I can only give it 3 stars.

The Xbox Elite Series 2 controller is easily the best controller I have ever used. From the moment you pick it up, the build quality feels premium and solid. The grips are comfortable for long gaming sessions, and the controller has a weight that makes it feel durable without being tiring. The adjustable thumbsticks and trigger stops are a game changer. Being able to fine tune sensitivity and response gives a real competitive advantage, especially in shooters and sports games. The back paddles are incredibly useful once you get used to them, allowing quicker reactions without taking your thumbs off the sticks. Battery life is excellent. I can go multiple gaming sessions without needing to recharge, and the charging dock makes it easy to keep the controller ready to go. The customization options through the Xbox Accessories app are deep and easy to use, letting you save multiple profiles for different games. Overall, this controller is worth the investment for anyone who takes gaming seriously or just wants a higher quality experience. It feels like a true upgrade over standard controllers and delivers comfort, performance, and reliability. Highly recommended.

I like the controller, it feels great, responsive, heavy in my hands the grip on the handles is nice. BUT, and this is on me, I didnt realize it didnt come with all the add ons to make an elite controller, that would be sold separately ($30 i think) so not terrible. Also, the select button is hard to press to get to menus in game. I usually have to hit it twice to get it to register.

While over priced tye controller is a game changer for FPS games. Having four extra inputs frees up your thumbs from lesving the joysticks, resulting in faster respinse time and an advantage over other players in FPS games. It takes time to adjsut to the paddles, but once you do you can never go back to a regular controller.

    Mostly an Upgrade

I had the first Elite controller before this, and it's a definite 95% upgrade. This controller is great quality, substantial and weighty in a satisfying way, and the customization options work wonders. The main downside is in the comparison to the original model. For whatever reason, Microsoft has decided you only need one long thumbstick and one domed thumbstick — which makes no sense, because there are two thumbsticks on this controller. You have two standard, two "classic" (which are basically identical to the standard), then one long and one domed. I loved the two long thumbsticks on my old Elite controller because they allow for more precise movements and cramp my hands far less... but these thumbsticks are incompatible with the original Elite controller, which can only be a financial decision for Microsoft. That doesn't make sense either, though, because they don't sell additional thumbsticks. I suppose I need to find a friend with one of these who doesn't use the long thumbsticks and trade their long one for my domed one... and that's ridiculous. Additionally, there are reviews online that state some of the A/B/X/Y buttons don't always work. I have this issue too, where my button presses randomly don't work. The buttons are also spongy. This is inexcusable at this price point, from a first-party company... but because of the paddles, I rarely use the buttons anyway so it doesn't break the deal for me. Mapping those buttons to the paddles greatly enhances gameplay (you can leave your right thumb on the thumbstick and still use A/B/X/Y, even multiple simultaneously, and that's a HUGE perk!) so I definitely recommend that. You can remap A/B/X/Y if you want, also, to other functions. Don't neglect the controller configuration app on the Xbox One or Series X|S. That's where you truly maximize this controller, to set up custom travel distances on thumbsticks and triggers and remap controls. You can have three separate profiles on the controller, as well as a default which unfortunately isn't editable. I have mine set up with default, FPS, racing, and RPG settings to maximize experience in different game types I play — this controller is most useful, in my experience, in FPS and racing games. Online FPS games will see substantial benefits for you if you use this controller well, and racing games (I play Forza Motorsport/Horizon games) are much better with this controller set up with paddles and configured travel distances. Honestly, using this controller for online FPS and racing games feels like borderline cheating sometimes. You can jump or crouch while you turn/move/fire, ALL AT ONCE, in an FPS game. In a racing game, you can customize your gas and brake pedals as well as steering. Seriously, this is huge for both genres.
