However, customers are negative about recurring issues such as stick drift and the durability of the buttons, which some report breaking quickly. I recently had to replace my original Series 2 as the coating was dtarting to peel off and buttons were becoming less responsive. First replacement series 2 = no X-button. Second series 2 = no Y-button. Third replacement will hopefully be a charm. When it is working, I dont think it can be touched regarding fit/finish.

Ive been through 3 elite series 2 over the years, they typically last a year or two. I purchased this core version thinking since i had the extras for it already, i could save some money. Unfortunately right out of the box the y button and right bumper didnt work correctly. I had to return this, i dunno if its just cause it was the core controller or if it was just one in a million chance i ended up with a bad one. This experience definitely pushed me away from the core controllers.

For a controller thats supposed to be in " excellent" condition, it didnt seem so excellent. The controller was dirty, why was it not cleaned up? It had ugly stuff all around the controller, and it also had a weird smell. Kinda dispoinnted with this purchase.

Quality control on these controllers is horrible. The A button fails to register. D-Pad is wobbly to one side. And one side of the controller's rumble motors is stronger than the other side. Tried different replacements from Microsoft, and all experienced the exact same issues. So I bought this one from Best Buy, and even the controller from Best Buy is experiencing the same 3 issues.

    Second time is the charm

This is the second Elite Series 2 controller I have had to purchace, so I am hoping that it lasts longer than the first one. The design appears to be improved; namely, the grips are not seperate pieces that start to slip off after some use and then become uncomfortable. The bigger issue the first time was the joysticks drifting, so if that happens again I will have to update this review.

Cannot recommend spending this type of money on a controller. Experienced stick drift in less than 3 months. Upon sending it in to Microsoft to be repaired/replaced, the device they sent back was absolutely filthy, had damage and looked like it had been used for years and never cleaned. The poor quality of these devices and Microsoft sending out junk in return, I cannot recommend this controller to anyone.

I cant with all honesty recomend this controler. 3 days in stick drift. Like how is that even possible. If your a sweat player like me this controler will break down and have problems garanteed. Watch vCuda on youtube for an honest reviewer of this product too. I love everything else about this controler though.

I have now ordered 3 Xbox elite series 2 controllers and all of them have been defective. The issues have consisted of the controller constantly disconnecting from the console after being connected for 5 minutes, joystick drift, and buttons not responding. I have tried over 3 months to get a controller that works properly but each time the controller has issues straight out of the box. Customer support has been great with working with me to return the product each time but after 3 tries, I will not be ordering this product again. Until Microsoft addresses these issues I would not recommend this product to anyone, especially at the price you have to pay to get it.
